Forumer you are complaining against: Devour ( https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showuser=394297 )

Item being sold/bought: Warranty extension on 7th of April 2012 for HP Dv6 laptop

Original thread link: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2713641&hl=

Date of transaction: 7th April 2012

Details of the complaint :

Purchased a laptop from Devour quite long ago. Did not really bother with the details since he appeared honest enough.

Paid an extra 199 for the warranty extension ( Carepack or whatever ) from him with the laptop.

Paid full amount + extra 199 during COD.

After COD, he asked for my details to register for the carepack.

Checked couple of times, not updated. Assumed it's normal since it took 2~3 months for the system to update normally ( Previous experience with Dell )

Recently laptop has problem, contacted @Devour more than once for resolution, but sadly, only excuses are given.

I'm not really upset about the fact that i've burnt 199 for a non-existent warranty ( since it's been 2 years and I don't expect anything from someone who's hiding anonymously online with excuses ), I'm more interested in shutting down his business online.

Example of Devour's already famous reputation is as follows :

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2981709/all
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3070054/all
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2980504/all
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3174452/all

Would upload the PM-es if anyone want to read 2 years ago punya story but I think I'm honest enough not to cheat him for such a small amount.

The statement in question would be in the spoiler. He cleared noted the fact that I'm taking the extra warranty and yet I'm baffled by the fact that I'm not getitn any whistling.gif

Apparently, it's the popular thing now.

Can't say I'm surprised, despite the fact that I've defended him on few occasions.

Disappointing, actually.

Supplier problem or not, carepack has nothing to do with supplier.

Once a customer paid for it, he should immediately register that carepack or warranty extension instead of giving excuses.

I have nothing to defend him if you see my tag against him everywhere in my sales postings. But just to mention some facts about extended warranty... Extended warranty is purchased via the same distributor usually when someone wants to buy it together with the laptop. In this method, it usually takes me 2-10 weeks max, to register the extended warranty for my client (it holds true for Lenovo Dell or HP extended warranty. Some others like Toshiba, Fujitsu may get a quicker response.)... It seldom exit that time frame unless there is an issue between distri and the manufacturer. The other method is of course, dealer purchased the extended warranty in 'Bulk', and register online for the end-user as and when the customer wants it - but i doubt any dealers here do this. So, anyhow in both cases, it should not take more than 3 months to get the E.W registered.

You should highlight that so that other members would know. I'm not saying that you are defending him btw. I'm merely indicating that he should not blame the supplier because of his inability to deliver on his promises.

It took me 1~2 months for my earlier Dell to get registered so I was not bothered when I checked the E.W status 1~2 weeks after purchase.

Was quite surprised when a close friend mentioned that HP usually have quicker customer support and will update the information to the system faster compared to others.

Since The Seller mentioned it's slow for HP to update to their system, maybe it's time for me to complaint to HP as well regarding this issue. Let's see what explanation that HP would give whistling.gif

Anyways, since he's not replying here, I doubt the will bother to come and resolve this issue for sure. Apparently, he said that I was paying for better customer service but look at the facts here now smile.gif

I'm getting no service and being ignored by a "good" seller.

Anyways, since he's taken my MYR 199 for nothing, I do appreciate it if he could refund the full amount + reimbursement for what I'm going through. Don't think it's a difficult thing, seeing how bad I'm being treated by him.

so why dont u guys spread d words by posting all these thread to his selling thread?
because the way i c it , he jsut dont care about it and basically being arrogant about this apparently " small money " to him and ignoring everything..
why let him off so easily ?
the least u could do is to warn off the potential buyer

Give it till the 7th day of this dispute, then I'll make sure I wake up everyday to spam his thread.

For now, let's wait for another 5 days.

I'm gonna file another dispute at Tribunal when I'm free as well. Definitely not letting him get away that easily whistling.gif

This is M'sia, very hard to bring an unethical seller down.

You see the examples given in the 1st post, very very very hard for him to admit he's wrong and resolve the issue one.

This is why I've shunned almost all online seller for products that require warranties because people like him gives a bad name to the business....

You just can't trust him, despite the fact that he looks nice and friends.

Best part is, if you PM him wanting to buy a laptop, I'm sure he would reply whistling.gif

He's unlikely to respond.

I'm hoping Apis or any staff would take note of this and lock his thread until he could offer a reasonable response.

If possible, should also complaint to the companies of all those brands that he's selling. After all, it's their money he's taking into his own pockets.

My 2 cents here

a) I deal with devour few times, I am his friend's friend, but not close, sometime I also pm him ask him add on warranty or free gift , but when the time do cod, I will ask him cut off those , so i think it does not mean what at all, perhaps TS , are you at that time cod, revert not to update the warranty ? its 2 years ago dealing, can you ensure you have enough memory on the actual deal contain?

b) i sense TS has same thinking in a) ,have a guilty conscience, he little bit bias with bring others case that not related to his one, to tend him into right situation ?

c) the deal TS with devour has been so long (2 year ), i think he also cant remember TS who you are laugh.gif ,any way. As i know he not doing online much now, more on project and pass to his friend to update thread from what i call him last deal, he told me this, do TS ever contact his number or ? sweat.gif

d) small advise to other forumer , which IT business has 100 % good feed back, everyday i suft asus ,all it , thundermatch facebooks, a lot of bad comment also. i hardly found one IT seller is perfectone, but at least the case bring by TS regarding devour has solved. i believe some will be dupe from his competitor ? laugh.gif

It's funny that devour needs his frens to defend him, when he only bother to pm me after 7th day I open the dispute thread?

I've message him earlier thrice, and he choose not to answer me.

So, let me be clear, devour's friend.

A. I've a pm for him asking for my personal details to register for the carepack. Reason I don't post it up is because it's personal and I am waiting for him to use such excuse.

Seconded, it was stated that he noted the fact that I asked for the extended warranty. Also, I've contacted him shortly after COD to send him my details for the carepack.

Why would I do that if I did not pay for it? Wanna waste his time for no reason?

And please don't question my memory. I can tell you specifically where we meet, the time we meet and what happened at the location of the COD. I can even tell you he was wearing a black shirt on the day of COD and helped me install an extra ram for the Dv6 on the spot.

Do I have memory problem? I'm sure I don't, but hey, feel free to create excuses.

B. I don't think you understand what you are saying here. I have no guilty conscience at all. What weed are you smoking here bro? I'm lazy to pursue the case because of how he handles such stuffs in LYN. Many many many PM-es I have received from other buyers stating the same time. Just because I'm lazy to disclose, does not mean I am trying to cheat him of such a small matter.

C. I don't give a rat's ass whether he remembers me or not. My name is in his successful trade, I have the PM-es from our earlier deal and finally did i say I don't care what he's doing right now? He sold me a product with conditions attached * extended warranty * and it's his fault he did not register it, even after I gave him the details needed.

FYI, i did pm him a few days after to purchase extended warranty for MAC but decided not to do so because I got a better deal elsewhere. This shows that I was in communication with him up to a point where he has enough time to register the care pack. But no, apparently he forgot right? What a convenient excuse?
