EXACTLY! This is the whole point for studying! We human beings are curious kind of species and we will be very interested to learn about everything around us, and hence thats how we build up our knowledge and technology.

While most of the students, all they know is just drill the book, drill the lecture notes, mechenically memorize the exam tips the night before exam, now come on, this is not the way to aquire new knowledge.

Actually the lecturers in the university are in a quite difficult position, if they want their students to use their brain and do their own research on the topic, or trying to tweak the exam question a little bit to show some quality, they will need to write lots of reports about why so many students failed.

Sometimes, even they gave all the exam tips to the students, "STUDY THIS" "STUDY PAGE 101" "CHAPTER 3.1 - 3.5 is VERY important" "Put triple stars on the 3rd line in the notes", there are still people failed on the exactly same question they did in the tutorial.

University should be the place that teach people how to learn, not the place that teach people how to score in exam. Even nowadays still got parents ask where got tuition class for the university students

Yup, in fact another I'd add to that is honesty as well. If you dont know, say it. Dont try to weasel your way out of it. If you want to attempt to answer by guessing then assert that you are guessing. If you're a fresh graduate, the interviewer is pretty much certain that there will be a lot of technical answers you can't answer anyway and they are trying to pick out other qualities that stands out.

Whether local or non-local Uni does really matter too much, but I'd say that whatever Uni you goto, do spend time to improve your English.

TS, I've got trainees from Computer and Communication Engineering course in UKM. Based on the subjects the course offer, they hv much less exposure in programming and no where near engineering.

Yes it's true as other forummers said it all depends on individual. But considering spoon feeding culture in Malaysia, what the course offered is what you get at most cases.

can i share something? the main reason that most IPTA grads cant secure a job is that they have a poor command of english. u can see this being pointing out from the education ministry all the time when this issue were raised. just look back the old Star or NSTP archive.

and about the local uni = low quality or sux, i see most local grad can apply with MNC without any problem. and also, local uni provides teaching materials and facilities way beyond what private instituition can provide, for example, UKM's library is one of the best here.

Hi Guys, don't argue anymore. Just blame the government of implement M*L*Y in University. It is totally sucks. Brainless decision from the Ministry of E*ucation. How you going to compete with the "non-G0vernment U" students who used ENGLISH as the main language.

2nd thing, it is all about personality no matter from local U or private U. Who cares?

yea, I agree there's no need to Argue.. It solely depends on how one brings him(her)self out in interviews and all. And yeah, a good Command in english is essential too. A useful advice from me would be try to join more activities in Uni to futher improve yourself in soft skills. I'm currently in IPTA and i'm So glad i've join AIESEC, a student run organisation which is recognise globally. Try www.aiesec.net It reli helps me alot as we do deal with the companies, embassies and all to ask for sponsors n to join our programmes organised by us (students). Not many university clubs/organisations will give u that type of opportunity! so for those who's in Uni.. and which organisation gets u to meet the ambassadors from all over the world. and yes, im telling the truth.
