It's not strange. I think UTP also got such course. A combination of Computer and Communcation Engineering but it's still an electronics degree.
*
I don't think so.
I never heard of such course in UTP.

There is an ICT(Information Communication Technology) course offered here and certainly it isn't electronics degree.

The only electronics degree related in UTP would be Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

I think should be this one "majoring in Computer Systems Engineering" or "majoring in Communications Systems". But the first one is more accurate.

Well my point is to correct ur assumption.(if u assuming that)

It not the same as what the thread poster taking.
He's taking Computer and communication engineering. That will be what he study for the whole 4 years in UKM.

Where in UTP, we only take it in final year. 4 subjects only(electives to be precise).
Whoever took "Computer Systems Engineering" and/or "Communications Systems" still an Electrical & Electronics engineering student(major).
IMO, using this to compare with that is not that "approriate".

Then it's either the UTP site is rather confusing by putting there "majoring in" instead of naming it as subjects for a general E & E degree. Plus one of my friend who has finished an engineering course at UTP also not clear with the UTP system. I was doing a comparison from what friend told me. We did compare the list of subjects between UTP and my university.

If u check it clearly, it stated what we studied for the first 3 years in UTP.
The final year will be about "major elective" which will be those major".

It stated very clearly in the webpage.

Well, I don't want to argue anymore. It's either my fault or my friend is a dumb ass.

Sorry for that ...

Well, I have no choice. I'm not from UTP but he's. I just try to rationalize with some information I exchanged with my friend. Perhaps the information given isn't that accurate or reliable.

Don't worry ... I'm still know who I am.

by the way, most UTAR n TAR students keep on saying, UM, UKM, UPM sux....dunno why they say so?since most student cant get into to local U only the apply for UTAR n TAR.n somemore, we study hard n get good results only can get into local U, but UTAR n TAR dun even need good results, my frens fail most of his subject in spm can even study engineering. what kolej is this???

Now, let's not start saying which Uni is better and which is not. Everyone is subjected to their own opinion, and let's keep it that way.

If you wish to talk more about education, do create a thread in Education Essentials and back up your topic with facts, not assumptions.

Am I Telecommunication Engineer?
I didn't learn RF and radio network design, just briefly know about GSM/WCDMA...

Am I Computer Engineer?
There's no programming language is offered such as MS SQL, Java, Perl, Oracle...

Am I Network Engineer?
I know nothing about router, switch, LAN, WAN...

Am I EE Engineer?
I didn't learn more about CMOS, VHDL, Verilog...
Who Am I? rclxub.gif
btw MS SQL and Oracle isn't a programming language..............

that aside - you shouldn't be asking stuff like "AM I XYZ? i know / don't know ABC" type of questions.

you should ask yourself - what do you know and what can you do for a company, then you will be the person doing a particular role and the title be given to you. biggrin.gif

Actually, whether a person sucks or not depends on his personality, not education. A lot of people I know who are not even graduates do well in life because of personality. You may think its not possible but it is, people look at you based on the things you do or say.

ok lets not start by comparing ok?see http://www.asiaweek.com/asiaweek/features/...rank_country/#8 if u wanna compare.

ok, im not making assumption, these are base on facts. employers receive hundreds of resume once they advertised certain jobs, they only pick for, maybe 10-20 which they think is qualified for this job, then they will ask them to come over for interview. well, if this is assumption, u can try and ask others employers and see. what do they seek in the interview?

by the way, what Multi National Company are u talking about?maybe can tell us more?

Come on, all of you guys here are already adult so behave like one and not start flaming each other personally or their education background okay?

If you have a point you wish to clarify, back up with facts and politeness and not start calling anyone names okay?

---
Having that said, I agree on some points but aside from having self confidence and a good personality, you need to have at least a good basic in what you are doing. You can't employ an accountant just because he has good personality and self confidence. He needs to at least have the basics in accountacy so that the company can slowly train him.

my previous post is quoting this point. I'm sayin u making assumption becoz of this point. Students from X college/U accusing others college/U are happens anywhere and this normally is based on certain individuals, so why saying "most UTAR n TAR students keep on saying, UM, UKM, UPM sux".

I don't see my frens around me saying that during college time.

I'm agree that TAR/UTAR requirement are quite low but there are also a lot of good students not given a chance to enter local U (if u know what i mean) and not every students are rich enough to enter private U, so TARC/UTAR are the best choices.

And i can see these college/U produces quite a lotof good graduates

There are not fair comparing 1 institution with other institution. I believe every good students can perform in different education institution. And the link u give are comparing U only.

Again, my previous post said u making assumption is not the regarding the interview. I agree with u on this.

I try not to reveal my company and my fren's and I would like to put it as confidential.

Local Grad in Local U speak malay, as for me, i'm chinese educated, speak malay with lecturer and chinese with fren. some interview require speak fluently in english, that's why i failed. coz when i speak, the interviewer sure will know how's my english standard

well if you have identified your command of english as your main weakness, then do something about it.
take private classes at british coucil for example or parctice it more with your friends.
sitting in front of your computer and ranting about it here doesn't help you.
you have to take charge of yourself if you wanna be successful now and for the future.
graduating from a local univeristy that uses bm as a medium of teaching is not an acceptable excuse for not able to speak english properly.
i also graduated from ukm but my job function is dealing with customer using english everyday.
when there's a will, there will be a way.
