Sometimes this is the purpose of the interviewer, they asking lots of (technical)things that the fresh grads do not know. If they know what is it its a plus, otherwise they can see how you respone to those though question, and clearly know how confidence you are.

As long as they asked you come for an interview you stand a change to score the job. Actually everybody need to learn new things for a fresh job, therefore it is very important to know your level of confidence and your willingness to keep on learning to complete your task.

Yup, in fact another I'd add to that is honesty as well. If you dont know, say it. Dont try to weasel your way out of it. If you want to attempt to answer by guessing then assert that you are guessing. If you're a fresh graduate, the interviewer is pretty much certain that there will be a lot of technical answers you can't answer anyway and they are trying to pick out other qualities that stands out.

Whether local or non-local Uni does really matter too much, but I'd say that whatever Uni you goto, do spend time to improve your English.
