another black screen while playing dota 2, need restart to return to normal...zzz

what should i do now? change to old driver? currently using 14.6 beta

update :

1.after 3rd time crashing, i uninstall, and install the 14.4 driver, still testing, weird though it all happens in dota 2  cry.gif

2. the same thing happened! but instead now memory clock is not stuck as before at 150mhz, but the gpu is running on full load all the time, restarting solve the problem  rclxub.gif

3. this time around i downloaded the 14.3 driver from powercolor website, still testing with this driver, one thing i notice after installing driver from powercolor, the fans rpm started to show up in open hardware monitor, its been none in the other 2 driver ive tested before(14.6beta and 14.4 both from amd website)

4. still crashing! but this time around, if crash, end the game task, re-enter the game, same perfomance as normal! no fps drop, no lockdown  biggrin.gif should i send back for checking? or maybe my psu not enough juice ??  rclxub.gif
am using xigmatek tauro 600w

p/s : most of the time i tested playing dota 2

ok guys here is my problem, 3 days testing everytime crash, what should i do now to troubleshoot the problem before sending back to shop? maybe psu not enough juice? maybe bcoz the backplate touching the case? or maybe driver problem(using ddu to remove the driver before installing)?

gc : powercolor pcs+ r9 290
mobo : asrock b85m pro4
psu : xigmatek tauro 600w rclxub.gif

please help!

It is unlikely that your PSU is not able to provide enough juice. I have tested R9 290 using a 600W (Corsair GS) and it works fine. One thing I've noticed when I faced this crash issue (I always get a black screen) is to uninstall the Beta drivers and use only Official (WHQL) ones, the previous 13.12 works fine. You can use Driver Fusion to clear off the old driver residue before reinstalling with the new driver version. Try to see if it helps. wink.gif

Check page 53, I have a list of chassis below RM 300. You check and see which one to your liking.

If you have 4K to spend... look no further to an Illegear...
http://store.illegear.com/re-series/19-ill...-re-15-evo.html

Maxwell-based GTX860M with Haswell i7...
...and no bloatware that is bundled with this laptop. icon_idea.gif

No SSD though, but you can always add your own in the form of a mSATA drive. brows.gif

2.5K would be too tight for anything good for games unless you drop the SSD. 3.5K budget is too close to a custom built laptop (like the Illegear I have mentioned)..

Hey all,

Would appreciate some suggestions on a new and compact gaming rig. Contemplating to go small this time, probably getting the Silverstone FT03 Mini or one of those Bitfenix ITX (Prodigy/Phenom) cases.

[Budget] RM3500 - RM4000

[Purpose] Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse

[Monitor resolution] 1920 x 1080

[Location] Subang, KL, Klang Valley

Thanks a lot in advanced. notworthy.gif

Don't want a Node 304? brows.gif

If you are going compact the Bitfenix Prodigy is out of the question as it is almost as large as some microATX cases...

Anyway,

i5 4460-RM589
ASRock H97M-ITX-RM349
Kingston HyperX Fury 1x8GB RAM-RM249
WD Blue 1TB-RM189
Zotac GTX760 reference-RM799 (GBros@Garage Sales)
Seasonic M12II 520W-RM279 (Idealtech@Garage Sales)
Fractal Design Node 304-RM349 (GBros@Garage Sales)
-No optical drive-
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD-RM299 (lingloong@Garage Sales)

Total: RM3102
Didn't really max out your budget though. tongue.gif

for medium setting yes, but if you want more future proofing then invest more
so it is either invest more now. or get something ok now and invest further later.

i cant tell the performance of future GPU soo yea.

for eg. previous gen gtx 670 match current gen gtx 760

and gtx 800 series should be out this year. not sure when

and i updated to go for some overclocking. if you want lower price. see the one you quoted.

hmm i see...make sense...after E3 i feel like riding on a roller coaster...seeing how the minimum requirement is now 64bit window....
oh well gonna save more for future proofing....thanks for the advice!
