nothing wrong with AMD CPU except its much more worth it if you go Intel route atm for both work related and gaming

AMD CPUs are horribly outdated

FX8350 vs Sandy/Ivy Bridge i5

and the i5 still runs top in most common testing methodology
*
i also think of sticking with intel. More mobo choices, especially ITX form

btw, i3 dual core is sufficient for games right?

sufficient for MOST games... but newer games tend to rely on the CPU more and more, such as battlefield 4 and Watchdogs so while you still can go with a dual core i3, it's advisable to go with a quad core CPU

Depends on the budget.If you've the money,better grab an i5. brows.gif nod.gif
You can play games with an i3 but in games that utilise more cores,it'll lose out..i think those games are BF4 and Far Cry 3 etc. hmm.gif

depending on type of games

intel going this route where lesser cores = higher clock speed and vice versa, so if your game doesnt take utilise more than 2 cores, youre good to go

PS: theres not much games that actually utilise more cores atm, so youre good to go. but i would recommend an i5 at least if you plan to game alot

Good day,

I might switch to intel by end of this year, yet still haven't decided on sticking with Win 7 ultimate or going window 8 pro.

My current mobo is ASUS which support the processor AMD Phenom x4.

Current GPU: Nvidia GTX 680

My current target:

Motherboard: Asus Z87

Processor: i5 4670k (1150 socket)

I have yet to know are there any other version of z87 out there, as I am not looking into overclocking.

Thank you.

Why go for a Z87 when no into OC'ing may I ask? hmm.gif I think a H97/H87 has the same "potential" as a Z87 to serve that has more USB Ports and can CFX/SLI and only don't have the OC factor in it. I may be wrong cause I haven't read many types of boards yet.

Model and brand of the PSU?
Do you need a monitor?

CPU:Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz RM799(It says "ASK" in Lingloong's thread,should be around 790-810 though)
Mobo:Asrock H97-Pro4 RM329
RAM:Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RM235
Casing:CM K380 RM145
ODD:Liteon 24x DVDRW RM59
Total:RM1567
Prices are from Lingloong@GS. wink.gif

Ask lingloong if he has the ODD,can't find it in his threads. hmm.gif

Do bear in mind that the CPU isn't the one that is going to gain you frame rates, but is your GC. Your GTX 680 is still a potent weapon and will have no problems on most games in 1080p resolution. Try to use Geforce Experience to tweak your games to the optimal setting, if you are not sure how to do so. wink.gif
