Thunderhead Keep? Let's see one of these days, we all login and help the fella out la.. hehe..

Where's Mineral Springs?
*
THK is one of those mission I didn't manage to get Master (was close one time but alas...ERR 7 cry.gif). Mineral Springs is the North most part of Shiverpeak Inhabited by lots of Ice Imps, Avicaras, Frost Worms and 6 bosses. The fact that there is a high possibility drop of Icy Dragon Sword make it a dangerous yet popular farming spot.

So, that's mean if I play Assassin/Dervish, I can learn scythe mastery so long I meet the weapon requirements?  hmm.gif
*
The only attribute you will not get compared to primary Dervish will be Mysticism. Scythe Master is available to all secondary Dervish but it all depends on whether you want to use a sycthe as your weapon. Make sure you get Mystic Regeneration & Faithful/Watchful Intervention if you decided yo go Dervish secondary. You won't regret it. wink.gif

QUOTE(rEDs @ Aug 10 2007, 12:46 PM)
why u want to use scythe for your assasin, when your assassin's skill much related to dagger combo.
*
There are pros & cons for using daggers or sycthe. It all depends on your preference & playing style :

Daggers :

Pro : Fast attack speed , high possiblility of double strike, high damage with Assassin combos.

Con : Single target, Low damage without combo, combo must follow lead->off-hand->dual sequence.

Scythe :

Pro : Able to strike adjacent targets (up to 3 targets), has the highest max damage, you will get 3X effect when you hit 3 enemy (i.e. Assassin with 12pts in Critical Strike will gain 9 energy when crit on 3 enemy / Conjure "Elements", Apply Poison, Sharpen Dagger will stack on all 3 enemy)

Cons : Slow attack speed (same as hammer). Damage fluctuate a lot (due to 6-41 dmg range).

There is also the Deadly Arts line which can prove to be more useful than Dagger Mastery if you don't use daggers.

Any local events plan for the release of GW:EN ? I don't think it will arrive in time (usually weeks after official release) and even if it does it clashes with Merdeka Day hmm.gif.

I already ask my friend in US got me 2 copies and have it shipped to him overnite, i will only get the CD key on 31/8 and get the physical thing in this coming december.......
*
Well then... good for you cause you get an early head start. I'm want to see what is in the physical packaging of GW:EN before making the decision whether to buy it from a software shop or purchasing it online. Maybe Mr.Koross can provide some pics showing the contents of GW:EN once it reach the shore ? (If the answer is no... I understand it's due to confidentiality).

Haha since everyone in KL will be getting the retail packs at the same time, it doesn't matter if you get it early or late since its better to play with your guild mates anyway.
*
That's why I keep hoping (until today) that there will some kind of local event when the game is launch so we may all get together and have fun. Maybe something like last time at the Cititel Hotel (Don't know how many time I have repeated this tongue.gif) but I understand that organizing these kind of events might not be easy for the game distributors/organizers but maybe...just maybe innocent.gif. No need to be fancy, just some finger food, chatting among players, PvP, verbal insult during PvP biggrin.gif and maybe a fashion show (yeah....right.... tongue.gif). Hopefully this will happen when GW2 launch notworthy.gif.

QUOTE(Will78 @ Aug 24 2007, 12:18 AM)
Thanks for the replies, advice, hints and comments. I really appreciate them!

I am playing the TRIAL version of Prophecies which I got FREE (the whole original box with nice manual and CDs)! The computer shop in Subang Parade gave it to me when I enquired about GW. I am pretty impressed that GW invest so much on potential customers like me.

Based on all your feedback, I am still undecided, but leaning towards NF because of the Heroes. It seems to me that with the Heroes from NF, I can run thru Factions fairly easy and make lotsa money. Then after that, I can play thru Prophecies and spend the money there! smile.gif

BTW, I used to play WoW, but I quit because I got busy at work and can only play once in a blue moon. Hence, paying the monthly fees didn't make sense! GW seems like the best MMORPG for me because I need not pay any monthly fees and can play as and when I want to.

In your opinion, what's the best and worst aspect about GW gameplay compared with other MMORPG?
*
This also depends on whether you want to start playing in GW:EN. Starting in Nightfall will definately get you a few Heroes but then you don't have enough skills/weapons to customize them and it takes a bit of time to get all your characters to LV20. Starting in Factions however will not get you any Heroes but you will reach LV20 in about 3-4 days then you can port your character to Prophecies, Nightfall or GW:EN wherever you desire. You may find Henchmen to be more useful than Heroes because Henchemen already came with predefined set of skills although they are not customizable + they don't need leveling. Non-Nightfall characters can get heroes faster once they are able to travel to Kamadan (Nightfall) as they start out with 4 as oppose to only 1 Hero for Nighfall characters. There will also be Heroes in GW:EN as well.

Hope this helps you get started. smile.gif

Anyone planning to shout "Merdeka !" in game on 31st August biggrin.gif ? Anyway GW:EN is enjoyable but I think the titles & Hall Of Monuments (I call it Shrine Of Showing Off) just made the game seem more like Wow as casual gamers most people won't have the time and effort to achieve those titles and get elite armors for their heroes. The story seem interesting with participation from other races but Gwen seem to have forgotton who the main character is...hmm...maybe she'll remember as the story progress. It will be very dissapointing if she just forget that eventhough it's just a small thing.

OH YEAH, I just beat GWEN!!!! but I only finish the main storyline without going through the side quest......... I am sure I miss a lot of others quest... btw,  GWEN is not hard...... Nitefall is harder!
*
Sweat sweat.gif....no need to study/work ? I'm not even at the 1/4 of the game. I only play on weekends. Now you can start focusing on getting all those neat armor pieces like tinted eye glasses...lol biggrin.gif. A dungeon filled with Wurms is not exactly easy you know... blink.gif (Frostmaw quest).

A sad day indeed. T.T

Sad indeed but it was fun while it lasted (It's still a lot of fun to me because I'm not one of those "hardcore" players laugh.gif ). There is just not enough promotion being done for this game. Hopefully things will change for the better when Guild Wars 2 arrive and hopefully we can have some events like the Nightfall Pre-Launch Party at Cititel Hotel last time.(Yes...I know...I'm repeating it over and over again.....but that's the only GW event that I have been to which is memorable.)

hi all  i interest with guild war . but donno how to start  . can share some expriences

like latency ? games play ? where to get retail pack?

i hear is no month fee is that true .

thx for all the help

1) Letancy is averagely good depending on your connection (cough...Streamyx....cough) but seems to fairs better if you are connected to the Asia server.

2) Gameplay wise is heavily focus on skills and builds. Player will choose 1 primary profession (main class) from 10 professions the game has to offer. When you reach LV5 you will be able to choose a 2nd profession (sub class) to mix with your primary (i.e Warrior/Monk , Ranger/Necro....etc).You will gain more skills as you progress through the game and at later stage you can also freely change your 2nd profession. Max level for your character is LV 20 (this may seem low compared to other MMO but it is because of the balance/fair play mechanics of the game) so not much grinding is needed. Unlike other MMO which offers character stat points that once invested you can never change (or change for a small fee /w limited times of changing) you can freely raise/lower your "Attribute Points" in the game any time you want to make linked skills more powerful. Weapons and armors are mostly just for looks as you can get max weapon/armor from collectors which work as well as the one you buy for XXXXK amount of gold. One good thing about GW is that you can leave & come back any time you like and your character will still be as powerful (providing that he/she has reached LV20). You can learn more about the game at the following site :

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page

3) You can get Guild Wars from almost any stores that sells original game software. You may refer to Mr.Koross up there for a list of resellers (I hope you are still dealing with games Mr.Koross tongue.gif )

Depends on your preference. Here are the Pros & Cons :

Guild Wars (Prophecies)

Pros - First story of Guild Wars.Has some of the best skills through out the game. Good tutorial that guide the player how the game works.Has one of the best mission/quest setup.

Cons - Slow paste leveling (I mean really slow). No "Heroes" (customizable NPC Henchmen). No inscribable weapon (built in bonus). Only 6 profession is available.

Guild Wars - Factions

Pro - You can reach LV 20 in 3 days more or less. Additional Assassin & Ritualist profession. Factions system (means you have to choose a side to fight for).

Cons - Enemies are strong on the mainland (after you leave newbie island) so new players who are not prepared will die quite frequently. Same as Prophecies...no Heroes & inscribable weapons. Missions are hard because most are timed missions.

Guild Wars - Nightfall

Pros - Heroes ! (customizable Henchmen). Incribable weapons. 2 new professions the Dervish & Paragon. Moderate Leveling paste.

Cons - Umm....not much except the player character models are not as nice as Prophecies & Factions. tongue.gif

Guild Wars - Eye Of The North

Pro - This is the 1st expansion pack for the Guild Wars series (and the end of GW1). New Heroes. New PVE only skills. Has some of the best scenery throughout Guild Wars. Elite Dungeons.

Cons - You will need either Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall to play it.

I would suggest you get Nightfall as it is one of the most polished of all 3 Guild Wars campaign + you can get Heroes to help you (but I do suggest you party with other players as it is more fun). If possible get Eye Of The North(EOTN) as well because your character can now travel to the land of the north once he/she reach LV10 (You will be temporary buff to LV 20 stat until you "really" reach LV20...then the buff will goes away). If you are unable get EOTN together then just get Nightfall. When you are familiar with the game then only decide whether you wish to get Prophecies & Factions for the extra content. Hope this helps. smile.gif

speaking of Bonus Mission pack.. where do I go to activate the missions? I already have them (though I didnt realise I did.. hehe)
*
Talk to Durmand [Historian] in Lion's Arch, Kaineng or Kamadan to get the story book of your choice + a weapon related to the story. Equip the weapon and use the book to enter the mission. After you have completed the story have Durmand authorise the book then you can exchange the authorised story book for a BMP weapon of your choice by submitting it to one of the Scribes around Durmand. Hope this helps.

BTW...mind telling me your IGN so we can hook up some time....LOL biggrin.gif.

Easiest way to achieve survivor title is to have Nightfall + EOTN.

1) Make a Nightfall character and pump to Level 10.

2) Take the quest "Hole Of Istan" from Bendah to go to EOTN.

3) Run to EOTN...don't fight any boss.

4) Run to Gunnar Hold...do the same as 3).

5) Do and repeat "Kilroy Stonekin's Punchout Extravaganza" (can be knock-down but don't get knock-out of course).

You'll reach LV 20 in no time + you get lot's of good drops to boost.

Disagree to that way..best way is ofcourse to play the game and have fun..dying isnt that hard..its a psychological thing..ull be amazed how hard it is to die after u reach ur title.

and yea..fastest way to the survivor title is thru factions..i personally tried alot of ways..and i find doin fow runs rewarding and also fastest..togatehr with exp scrolls..or..if u wanna be a normal bragger with the title..u can do leeching exp from doing DOA trapping or killing those jade at faction
*
Partially agree with your view on this. The survivor title is a bit frustrating to achieve (I personally don't like it either...somehow that title gives me the wrong impression that you play the game "cowardly"...lol) but I am merely suggesting one of the better ways to do so (Dwarven boxing is kinda fun you know tongue.gif). On the plus side you get 2500 exp + 250 gold when you do the quest not to mention you get some good drops along the way so even if you are not going for survivor it's still a good way to earn some extra exp + cash. Remember to include low level heroes in your party to benefit from the 2500 exp. nod.gif

Let's just face it azxel.... Guild Wars is losing it's appeal to people due to a few reasons :

1) Work/Life ! (Since the price hike I doubt that people will still have time/effort/stamina for gaming)

2) Guild Wars 2 !! People are eagerly waiting for an improve version of Guild Wars.

3) It's an open-ended casual MMO game so there is a lifespan to it and once people finished/got bored with it that's that. (Good thing is we can come back anytime nod.gif)

4) Not enough new content update. (Repeating the same event for a few months doesn't count)

5) Attractions from other games with "Uber Weapons/Armors" and "1337 Skillz". (Humans are vain)

6) Heroes are partially to blame for this. Most people tends to solo with heroes and henchies than to party with other players since H/H are more effecient in some way.

7) As I have said many times before "Not Enough Local Promotion". (I know it's not easy to organise but if F2P games can do it why not Guild Wars ?) Setting up booth at fairs/exibitions allowing players to try out the game. I really hope this can be done when GW2 arrives.

I still enjoy and play Guild Wars because I don't rush through things (lazy tongue.gif) so I will still have a purpose in the game. Feel free to look me up during the weekends between 12-4am. wink.gif
