QUOTE(WIlds @ Aug 31 2006, 09:12 PM)
Ladies and Gents,

looking for some advise ? and maybe some  noob question answered  by Guild War Players

I am looking into getting this game and was wondering was is the diff between

Guild War Prophecies NA
Guild War  Prophecies Europe
....................
Guild War  Factions North America
Guild War  Factions Europe

and which one should i get first  and how much is the retail price now ?

btw still more question but i need to decide to go with this or soemthing else...

* I like  the no montly fee part the best ...

Cheers
*
IMO I would suggest you get "Guild Wars : Factions" as the progression of the game (i.e. Level up, story) is faster compared to "Guild Wars : Prophecy". Only get GW : P if you really want access to some original skills & explorable areas and also you will only get the new profession Assassin & Ritualist in GW : F but not in GW : P (Unless you own both then your character can travel between the 2 continent Tyria (Prophecy) and Cantha(Factions).)

QUOTE(nimloth32 @ Sep 1 2006, 01:25 PM)

btw, did anyone heard that skills from GW:P for each classes are for sale now??

moreover, yoshi/haneda, imho, can you make a short faq on the general information of guild wars as a reference for those who are interested on Guild Wars and eager to know more info about this game (like whether this game requires online fees onot, what is the requirement to play this game, what is the difference between GW:P and GW:F and future chapter, is GW:F standalone game, etc)? it is for easier references..hehe..
*
That's good news for those who's not getting Prophecy but still want the unique skills.

Yeah.... a FAQ sounds good as I notice there is quite a few newbie questions about 2 or 3 post apart. A FAQ will help answer a lot of questions but where should we put it ?

After 3 days of testing all I can say is I'm eagerly anticipating the final release. The hero system is a nice addition. Finally we have henchmen who are "almost" as good as a real player (maybe better in some cases (cough...PUG....cough) tongue.gif). By the way one noob question.... can I get the bonus weapon for my 2nd character created in Nightfall campaign ? Unless I make my 1st character as D/P or P/D I don't see the benefit of getting both bonus weapon on the same character (furhermore you cannot sell the bonus weapon even to merchants sad.gif).

It is actually a double edge sword situation. On one hand if you customised the item you cannot sell it to anyone (some exception to merchants) and the only way to get rid of it is to throw it away. On the other hand an uncustomise item (ala Ectoplasm, Superior Vigor, mini pets, black dye & gold weapons) can fetch a you a hefty income (real money in some cases) if someone is willing to pay a fortune to obtain it even if it's a useless item but this only benefit those who farm. One more thing (from my point of view actually tongue.gif).... unless they start selling max weapon mod in the online shop the GW economy won't have much fluctuation/impact until the next "Rare Item" comes out.

Anyone has any idea when & where will the Nightfall Launch Party (local one) be held and also will there be any female promoters dress in 15K *very little cleavage* armors (2nd part just joking tongue.gif... but I think it's possible in countries like US, Japan & Korea laugh.gif) ? I hope it will fall on either 28th Oct (Sat) or 29th Oct (Sun). Preferable somewhere within KL with a larger walking space than the last event.

A word of warning Zirconium. The Assassin profession is the least favorable character to be included in a group so be prepare for a lot of rejection when you wish to join one unless you are the so-called "Critical Shot/Barrage Assassin" who use a bow to spam Ranger bow skills. Assassins die easily in the game giving the profession a bad reputation because they are in the frontline like Warrior but they have less armor so don't think like a tank when you are playing Assassin as primary. Try to master the hit & run tactic and switch to full secondary profession when needed (trust me...some quest/mission is not meant for close range attackers) and you will do fine. On the other hand Assassins excels in PvP due to their spike damage (large damage output in an instance) & the Shadow Arts line of skills help a lot in flag runs & point capturing. Hope this help you make up your mind. wink.gif

ok thanks ... i like being a lone wolf too =p
*
Note to Zirconium.... you cannot survive alone in the game biggrin.gif. This is a co-opporative style RPG so Soloing or using henchmen will not get you through the game easily. Trust me... wink.gif... You will need other "real" players to help you. Try joining a guild.

QUOTE(tytons @ Oct 13 2006, 11:19 PM)
not really...could be done with henchmen..takes longer time only...theres been articles on ppl finishing both factions n proph with hench..so its possible...
*
Note to tytons biggrin.gif ..... I didn't say it cannot be done. I just said it cannot be done "easily" with henchmen. Yes...you can finish it alone but there is no fun if you don't team up with other people (unless you are like what Zirconium refer to as "Lone Wolf" ph34r.gif). If you get team up with good players and finish the quest/mission with good results the feeling of synergy is so good it's hard to decribe thumbup.gif ... even if it's for just one quest/mission. You need to team up with people especially if you are a "newbie" to the game so don't be "noob" about it laugh.gif.

(Sorry if I'm being long winded and annoying but that's just the way I am tongue.gif. Hope you guys don't mind notworthy.gif.)

Dam...what a great "Green Weapon Drop Rate X 3" Weekend. I hope it never ends... laugh.gif. Wish I can join you guys on the "field trip" but my guild is just a small American guild with no ranking + I have to work and only free on weekends...sigh sad.gif .

BTW Mr.Koross.... you seem well inform of the GW stuff happening locally. Any news of the upcoming Nightfall Launch Event ? Like when & where will it be held ? (Hopefully it's on 28th / 29th Oct notworthy.gif)

hmm dervish/assassins, something to try out haha, sound painful too with the condition that a dervish can inflict, imagine a few dervish inflicting different condition haha
*
Luckily there are only 4 Avatars or else I can imagine 5 Dervishes each changing into one form + holding a different weapon & shouting out : "Go...Rangers....GO !!" laugh.gif. (Mighty Morphin Power Ranger joke)

Hmm... if you play more defensively go Dervish/Assassin as Mysticism make the Avatar form last longer. Offensive wise an A/D is more suitable. Critical + Way of Perfection will work really well (if it stacks....of course). You'll do more damage & gain more energy per hit rather then to wait for Mysticism to trigger (although Mysticism does heal you slightly).

Did anyone managed to get CE?
*
Yes.... may I know why you ask ? I bought it mostly because of the art book which is awsome as always although slightly thinner than Factions:CE. The best gift in the package are the skill pins and "The Making Of Guildwars" DVD. The soundtrack is as usual mostly ambient music but do have some nice track. Slightly dissapointed on the character standy thingy of Varesh (kinda cheap paper cardboard). In game mini pet Varesh is nice but I prefer creature type pet tongue.gif. Overall quite satisfy with the package thumbup.gif.

dang.. stopped playing so long ago... don't even have a level20 character. laugh.gif Been looking at NightFall.. looks good.. didn't quite like Factions though.
*
Where have you been azxel ? Anyway.... GW : Nightfall has a lot of improvements over the previous campaign. Some of the new feature such as Heroes System (customizable henchies) , Dye Preview and Customizable Armors/Off Hand Weapon (Inscription) I think you will like thumbup.gif. My only gripe is the cost of armor making is quite high with the introduction of "Inscription" as Nightfall armors has no additional attribute (i.e + energy, reduce deep wound etc.) when made and some "Inscription" cost a bundle sweat.gif.

QUOTE(Koross @ Nov 27 2006, 12:38 PM)
Ok guys tourney last Sunday at Point Extreme cc is up here.  So check it out. The next tourney will be held this coming Sunday, 12 noon at FTZ cc at SS15. So for those of you who haven't come, this is your last chance to try out and win some prizes!

For the past two tournaments, I have met Celestial Order and Goda Vos players, Supreme Raiders not interested ar? Anyway would be really great to see you guys in person and I bet everyone else would want to get to know the community.

Any more Malaysian guild that I don't know about?
*
Not that we are not interested Mr.Koross but some of us doesn't live in PJ/Selangor area so we are not quite familiar with that part of the area and some of us don't have our own transport (kinda embarassing but it's the truth blush.gif). I also notice that the venue keep changing all the time so that make us even more confuse. If the event is held somewhere in the KL region we might be able to attend it (Preferable a standard location where everyone can get to like Bukit Bintang or e-Club). Still quite dissaponted sad.gif that we didn't get to celebrate Nightfall release like we did with the Pre-Release event at Cititel Hotel. Now that was a blast ! thumbup.gif. Hopefully we can organize something like the Nightfall Pre-Release Event when the next chapter of Guild Wars arrive (eagerly praying... rolleyes.gif).

Ohh...by the way...are you guys promoting at the upcoming PC Fair ?

Alternately if you guys don't want to download a lot of files during the trial period you can ask someone with the full version of GW (preferable all 3 chapters) to burn a DVD copy of the up-to-date installed game for you (usually located in C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\). I think the game size now is around 2GB at the moment. Install the game using the installer you get from GW official site then overwrite your installed game with the files from the DVD. Launch the game and...wala...instant updates.

(Hope you guys understand what I said tongue.gif)

QUOTE(Haneda @ Jan 5 2007, 08:11 AM)
I got Gaile's attention. For those who missed their hats, post your agony here http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forums/show...260#post4621260

I suggested them to add a Hat collector npc just like the one in Dragon Festival.
*
Good suggestion Haneda. At least give a chance for those who have missed the event to reclaim the hats but you might be force to purchase candycane shards for rediculous price because of this as there is another NPC there who will exchange candycane shards for Wintersday Presents which might prove to be much more valuable than a headgear that only looks good. This means that most of them will be exchanged for the gifts instead of the headgear leaving very little shards to go around and as I recall you need 250 Jade Wind Orbs for the Dragon Mask so the same case might applies to the Wintersday hat as well. (This is just my 2 cents on the situation not that I'm against having hat exchanging NPC sweat.gif. Oh...how I wish I can have a chance to get the Tengu Mask.... cry.gif)

On a side note the new Festive Hat Maker NPC is just great. Now I have more room to store things since I "disposed" of all the festive headgear and I can make them anytime for any of my characters when needed. thumbup.gif.

I am facing serious lag too.... so hope can join you guys after the lag is resolved...

Broadband in my new home is not ready at the moment. So, I need to seek for an alternative to Streamyx probably. It might take me a few weeks for the broadband to be restored >"<
*
If you are under their coverage area you can consider switching to Jaring's Wireless Broadband. My friend has been using it since he doesn't have a fix line at home and from what I heard it's quite stable. The only problem is the signal is weak if you live in areas with a lot of tall buildings.
