Does anyone know how to turn off the blinking light on the back of the camera? When you use video mode, the light at the back will start and will not stop blinking. I can disable the orange light/tracking at the front of the camera when taking videos but not at the back. Annoying when you use the lense and not the LCD for the movies.

No you can't. That is to indicate that it's writing to the card.

Even the hacked firmwares have no feature to turn the light off.

If you think that light is distracting, just mask it with a sticker. LOL

Question guys,

Does the S3 support SDHC or the Kingston 1xx speeds? If they do, can you tell me how much u all bought it for and what brand? CAuse I heard S3 doesn't *officially* support SDHC.

I think 2GB card is kinda limiting. As I do tend to shoot continously before reviewing any of them pics.

Canon USA explicitly stated that S3 IS takes SDHC cards. Many forums shown that 8GB SDHC cards can be used on S3 IS. Several S3 IS owners here have used SDHC cards. Many users are using those ordinary high speed cards, including myself.

However, Canon Malaysia denied that S3 IS can use SDHC cards. But be assured, SDHC cards can be used.

For SDHC and high speed cards, I thought of Apacer. There are several other well known card such as Sandisk and Kingston. I heard that DNA cards are performing quite well too.

Added on June 24, 2007, 8:08 pmMy S3 IS shutdown when I tried Vitaly's version of CHDK hack. GrAnd's version is works fine though.

Use plaster then. It's comfortable and light won't pass through. If pass through, put 2 layers of plaster. tongue.gif

Alternatively, remove the LED. But I'm sure you won't.

I was in Canon Store at KLCC last Sunday and they are selling the lens adapter at around RM140 (can't recall the exact figure). I think this is more expensive than it suppose to be. Have anyone purchased this adapter lately? Where and how much?

Thanks.

I got the sticker but didn't join. The prize isn't attractive until the last month of contest. tongue.gif

Waterproof casing is very expensive but I've never seen one for S3 IS.

location?

BTW, any idea on how to take picture in-door..last Saturday i went to cineleasure (transformer exhibition)..

i'm not using iso 400/800/ super due to HIGH noise so i try to stick with 80/100 and 200 at maximum..

maximize the exposure..

i'm using flash.. but the picture look to horrible (robots placed in side the glass container
try open wide the apperture (using Av),
try using Tv to play bit with shutter speed.. still got the same.. uishhh

headache already.. trully previously i'm more on out door rather than in door.. any suggestion except for DSLR? kekekekek

The maximum ISO i'm willing to push is 400 only.
I'll try to keep 200 most of the time except at REAL bad lightings.

Personally I dont like direct flash in my photos as they create a 'fake' feeling to me in the pic.

I've tried two ways, one using paper to cover up ur flash, making the flash 'softer'. Another way is the bounce way, using the cig box as i posted earlier.

That's all I can share.

At outdoors, I'll gladly use ISO 80 or ISO 100, thanks to the great IS system. At indoor, I use ISO 200. Unless it's total darkness, I won't push further than that.

If you find the flash too harsh, using slow synchro can help a little. At least by using slow synchro, your subject won't look too "fake".
