The damn frustrating moment when in BF4 you get down to 80 ticks left from a 1k tick server and crash due to DX device hung error...make me wanna smash keyboard especially when getting top score. I didnt even OC my GPU...

I heard some bad reviews on Powercolor, is it that bad or just.. ?

In Deciding process. that Vapor-X is sexy.
waiting for review to see how good the vapor-x can OC.

on the powercolor pcs+, the only downturn of it is the 'Performance/Uber' mode in which the fan noise is juz a little under 50 dba, which is extremely loud.
the Quiet mode is superb with its noise lvl, but not the uber mode sadly.

LOL, go go go with 780 Ti, fastest single GPU out there. My only reservations with the Tri-X style cooler is the fan rattling issue, hopefully it doesn't affect this model.

I think you can just stick with Quiet mode, since the recorded temp is 76C only, compared to 6x ++ on Uber. Of course remember to add in +/- 10C due to our hot weather.

juz notice you are using zotac 780ti amp as well. may i know how is the temp, fan noise and OC performance?

780 Ti is great for resolutions below 4K, 290X is better on 4K, not to mention cheaper.

If me I kinda want blower style cards now, my casing aren't that good for open style cooler heh.

His is the normal GTX780 AMP!, not the Ti version. Hahahah.

What's your budget like? If you can go higher you can get the GTX780Ti GHz Edition or GTX780Ti Lightning.

Ghz Edition is the beast iinm, in our shore.
at this price point, for me going either 780ti or 290x is not wrong, but the thing to choose is, which Tech do you/I wan to go.
sadly we can't get the best of both world in 1 rig. else, i would love to marry 780ti with 290x.
nvidia (780ti)- Shadowplay, shield, Better frame-pacing (apply to single gpu?), TXAA (got a forumer told me that it blur out sucks iinm), Physx (recent game did not use this special effect?), best single gaming gpu for my budget.
amd (r290x) - mantle, tress fx ,RadeonPro+Sweetfx (this is insanely a must for SP game), cheaper and performance is not losing out much to the above, <- the only pros i'm able to figure out.

already got 7970, buy a Nvidia card then proceed to use both

swap the cards whenever you feel like using AMD or Nvidia

already sold d 7970, hence getting a new card. lol. require physical strength.
after taking out d 7970, i only realize how quiet my PC has been.

Just one or two complaints I saw from Amazon and newegg. Maybe just odd case

Mine is 780 AMP! only. But it is actually very similar with the 780 Ti AMP!, so I will share what I know. Temps are ok, idle at 38C, load temp 80C (probably due to the temperature target). Fans are generally quiet, I do not notice it any significantly louder than my casing fans. I have 3 Bitfenix Spectres + 1 Corsair AF120 running, all are dead silent ones. But compared to the Asus 760 DCUII OC that I had previously, I consider the Zotac AMP! slightly louder at load. I personally find it to be as loud as my 290 Tri-X at load.

Overall performance is ok, my base clock speed is 1006MHz, max boost clock speed observed is 1163MHz (all running at stock speeds, no manual OC). Did a simple comparison with my 290 Tri-X, my 780 AMP! is up to 16% faster averagely. I have no idea why there is such a big gap in terms of % difference. Perhaps due to the latest Nvidia driver that claims to improve a number of games' performance.

Like marfccy said, you actually CAN get a 780Ti and 290X together. Then switch in between to see which tech you wanna use.


Just get the GTX780Ti if you want best performance. Unless you're going 4K, the GTX780Ti will be faster in most respect. Unless you play a lot of Mantle based games like BF4.

Unless you wanna save lah. I think I saw the 290X PCS+ for 1999 somewhere.
