Probably a higher clocked Hawaii XT GPU. Same like what AMD did last time for HD 7970 (925 MHz) and HD 7970 GHz Edition (up to 1050 MHz).

This of course is assuming that there is no typo error. They could well mean R9 295X2.

TN panel. That's why it's cheap. A good start though towards making it affordable. From Linus's observation, blue and purple color shifts. Still can't hold a candle to IPS (Dell UP2414Q) or IGZO (Asus PQ321Q or Dell UP3214Q).

Rig nearly finish. A few more little touches and it should be done. i7 4770K and R9 290X in Crossfire.



Nearly bought that R9 295X2 at Jayacom for future SFF build just now. Wasn't happy with the runaround and bullshit I got from them regarding the PSU power requirement to run the thing. I'm sure anyone who had the intention of buying that 295X2 had made their research on how much power it needs (12V rail, two 8-pins delivering 28A of power).

Guys, i just bought used MSI R9 280X TF. One thing that bother me is the temperature. On idle is about 45C, while on full load about 82-87C + im not sure. I thought Twin Frozr should be running cool than the reference.

Does my card faulty? And what is the normal-safe range temperature for R280X?

then if youre ambitious, reapply thermal paste on the GPU chip

Just re apply the thermal paste using Tuniq-TX2. Not much improvement. Only slight different. Idle about 42-43C and full load using Heaven benchmark about 74C-80C. The biggest different i notice is card cool down in faster rate compare to previously.

Wait! I already tear off the MSI sticker during re apply thermal paste. My warranty void?

depending on how you tore it, if still able to reapply in close to mint condition, you can always try RMA

try perform Furmark and see the temps

check the fan speed as well. tweak them as you see fit
