I bought that Toxic card for my 2nd rig back in Jan.
no, the actual price is not rm850. after bargaining, it's closer to 800++
To be frank, it's a awesome mid range card, especially if you got a transparent side window casing with the Sapphire logo light and blue LED lights up based on the card's temp.

Based on the specs disclosed on the Radeon R9 270X Black Diamond Edition, this is just a re-branding of the Toxic for the china market.

Just got 1 piece of Sapphire R9 280 Dual X from viewnet with RM919. But when i reach home, found out HDMI cable was missing. and the GPU-Z still showing 7900 series instead of R9 200 series. Is that normal?

that's what happened when I bought my Toxic card. Just check if few pieces of plastic protector still wrap on the painted surface of the card or other signs of usage already. If yes just returned the card to them and request/demand for a new completely un-used one (and complete set). open your eyes and check properly before u go home !!!

It's either some jokers meddle / tested with the card........

If have the patience, wait for the Sapphire R9 290X Toxic.........

Won't be long since the SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X R9 290X 4GB GDDR5 TRI-X OC (UEFI) was launched recently...with similar core clock speed as the msi lightning but ram speed at 5640.

As a side note: I hav given up on idea of acquiring the R9 295X2 after weighing on the overall pros and cons of the card. Nice try/attempt for AMD on the 295 but it ought to be better (refined)...especially aiming for the high end market.

5970 - great card at the time launched
6990 - so so only....it's noisy
7990 - late to enter the market

Hi, my friends are asking me for opinions on his value-orientated build. Can you help me out?

Can you name some AMD cards that are good value? On top my head, I say the 285.

I can't recommend the 280x. It is priced too close to the Gainward Phantom 970, which is at RM1199.

I told my friend that the best value cards right now, IMHO are:

- 750ti (can use cheaper PSU and still 1080 at lower settings)
- 285 (the no brainer value card from AMD right now, comes with THREE AAA games)
- 970 (price to performance leader)

Lastly, I just can't justify buying AMD at the moment, except the 6350 (RM489). The i5 4460 is just too good a value at RM580. Almost all builds from Idealtech has them. Again, your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

Just look at the Gigabyte Windforce R9 280 OC (core 950 MHz boost 1072 MHz), u care to shop around, can b bought for mid RM700+ (cash).

U guys.. i dunno lah wat to say. Im just asking simple question on power consumption of both card, and u go far ahead assuming everything based on your suit. I know what im doing, and I can afford it. Ive been using ATI cards since 2006, I know every of its quirks.

Its surprising actually when I always get proper answer more easily from kopitiam section.

nvm la. I already got my hands on both card. I can measure myself now.

Thanks anyway.

*just because you have little bit more money and can afford it doesn't mean you have to stop controlling your usage or made no effort to cut your electricity usage rolleyes.gif .

Fren,

If power efficiency is your top priority, then the new R9 285 chip would be your best bet. Tweaked GPU with slightly better features and power usage. U can check some reviews for it.
There's no use of you to buy a powerful card like the 290x/290 (and more expensive) and to throttle it to save power and obtain reduced performance at the same time.

AND The performance of the 285 should sit in between The Sapphire 270X Toxic and the R9 280X.
