Okay so the Original casing recommendations thread has over 100 pages and is 5 years old. So after all that time... here is V2!! rclxm9.gif

The purpose of this thread remains the same, and that is to provide LYN members and their peers suggestions to choosing the best PC Chassis available in the market.

So here is a suggested template for all to follow when asking for a suggestion:

Budget
Preferred Brand(s) (e.g. Antec, BitFenix, Cooler Master, Corsair, Nzxt etc)
Must-Have-Features (e.g. M-ATX only, Rubber grommets, Circular shaped, can fly... etc.. you get what this means)
Location

Here is the link to the first version of the Casing recommendations thread -> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1221166

Anyone is welcome to contribute and discussions will be allowed; but try to keep it relevant and please do not start World-War 3 okay people?? thumbup.gif

Any suggestions on improvements to the thread is appreciated as well wink.gif

hai guys

i want to ask what a good casing for easy cable management..for now im using aerocool templariouse telum.

for now i have to casing i like which is bitfenix ghost and nzxt phantom 410.

and i want to put Hydro Series H110 High-performance CPU Cooler or  Hydro Series H100i High-performance CPU Cooler

which of these casing is suitable or any casing?price range 300-400

tq
*
one with the front door? why not just stick with the BitFenix Ghost like you said? tongue.gif

anyway at that budget, I'd suggest you take a look at something like the Silverstone FT04 or RV04 and maybe even the Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 wink.gif

it is a nice chassis, but I wouldn't say that it's better than any other chassis as it has it's own strengths and shortcomings wink.gif

the Colossus is a full tower chassis, much larger than the mid tower... unless you're referring to the Colossus-"M"

I owned NZXT phantom 410 before, the casing design is good, but when receive the casing, the material they used I'm very disappointed .
The paint very easy to scratches, and may of plastic, cheap craftsmanship

Wow, I know that the Phantom series have a plastic shell but scratched easily?? the plastic quality should be solid at least right?

I'm guessing that your budget is about RM100 for a chassis? truthfully speaking at that price, there are not many others that have the same styling as Aerocool, Probably Armaggeddon chassis... most chassis by manufacturers at this price point are simple and gets-the-job-done design and most are M-ATX enclosures like the Xigmatek 323 or the Cooler master CMP 102 (this one's ATX BTW)

Not too sure if you can get Fractal Design chassis on that budget but for BitFenix I can only think of the Comrade for now smile.gif unless you wanna top up a bit to get the Shinobi Window.. the Merc is in your budget but only USB2.0 ports

Hi all! I'm planning on a rig right now to be made from somewhere within December 2014 to April 2014. I'll be using it as a Digital Audio Workstation whilst it being able to handle gaming. I know it's a long way to go, but I'd rather start on my list now then later.

These are my required components. If you know where to get the components for a really cheap price, do PM me brows.gif

Location: Petaling Jaya
Budget: RM4500//
Usage: Gaming, Video Editing, Pro Audio Editing
Required list before: 15th December 2014

Thanks in advance! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

hmm.. this looks like a system recommendation bro smile.gif

Go here-> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3163951/+2300

but as far as chassis goes, the Fractal R4 is a great choice, you could also consider the Nanoxia Deep Silence series that'll give Fractal a run for their money as well wink.gif
can have a look at our review of the DS1 here-> http://www.tech-critter.com/2014/02/unboxi...-silence-1.html

you can get them for as cheap as RM50 IINM from shops.. those with unknown brands.. or else you can probably get some for free if someone can't sell them off, just need to look around

I'd go gor the NZXT because of it's cable management alone but both are good contenders imo but I don't have experience with them to compare fully

This is a bot hard... hmm... maybe you should get dust filters?? cause all chassis will trap dust in front first anyway before hitting the filter behind it

BitFenix Ronin and NZXT H440 comes closest to that but you will still have the 5.25" bays covered as those parts are usually what people wanna hide

else there is always the BitFenix Ronin or Thermaltake GS - II if you wanna consider other brands... Corsair is a bit expensive for the same features

at that price, I can't think of anything that'll have all the features you want... especially the Vibration dampeners on the HDD mounts if you're willing to sacrifice that then have a look at BitFenix Comrade or the Silverstone Redline series

Thanks for the recommendations ! I think I go for Corsair Carbide Spec-02. The design looks sleek, good air flow and the internal has a lot of holes for cable management but more importantly, large side panel window. nod.gif

lotsa Matx chassis with dust filters but at that budget I can't think of one with front dust filters.. those that have dust filters at the front (or intake) are something like Silverstone SG08, Sg09, BitFenix Phenom-M collossus-M, Prodigy-M, Corsair 350D, Xigmatex aquila, Aerocool DS cube... but they are well over RM300 each

sorry for that notworthy.gif , personally i prefer

- black/grey colour chassis
- easy cable management
- good air flow (i am not going to use liquid cooling, but air cooling)
- mid tower for atx board
- good quality case (solid, not easy to be scratched hmm.gif )

i found out that nowadays a lot of ppl using corsair chassis, any recommendations ? or there are other brand's chassis which are also good?
please share your valuable opinions notworthy.gif icon_question.gif

Hmm well Corsair does makes good chassis but they're not the only ones that do wink.gif brands like Antec, InWin, BitFenix, Silverstone, Cooler Master and even Thermaltake all makes good chassis.. only see which you prefer smile.gif

based on your requirements, I would suggest these:

Full Towers:
BitFenix Shinobi XL
Corsair Graphite 760T
CM Storm Trooper
Silverstone TJ11

Mid Towers:
BitFenix Ronin
BitFenix Shadow
Corsair Graphite 600T
Corsair Obsidian 450D
Corsair Carbide 400R / 500R
Phanteks Enthoo Pro
Thermaltake LVL10 GT
NZXT H440
NZXT Phantom Series
Silverstone Raven 04
Silverstone PS06
CM Storm ScoutII

These are but a few that I know of with great airflow and cable management, there'll be more if you wanna disregard cable management lolz but have a look at these for starters, hope it helps

will see other casing as you listed above.

I did consider both Corsair 450D and NZXT H440 but either one was missing either cooling performance or sound dampening.

But then I notice the Fractal Design Define R4. It has both good cooling performance (better than NZXT H44) and sound dampening quality.

The integrated fan controller is a really sweet touch, icing on the cake smile.gif

Not available? Why is that so? hmm.gif

Nah, I haven't gotten mine yet but I have my eyes on it. Planning to upgrade my entire rig of 2012, wanna get a good looking red themed rig brows.gif

So far planning for red: Asrock Z97X Killer, using back my old i5-3450 first and wait for Broadwell K processor, Corsair Vengeance or Kingston Fury red rams, Corsair H55, Sapphire R9 290 reference, Seasonic X-650W gold, Fractal R4 with red custom sleeves (do you know what brand is the cheapest and also reasonably nice?) and red+black custom sleeves for the PSU cables like 24 pin bla bla (not sure which to go for as I'm new at this) and some Enermax Magma advanced red fans

You know I've always envied those really kick ass beautiful rigs. I'll attach some here laugh.gif

I haven't bought the case yet, just planning to get it in the future smile.gif

NZXT H440 is pretty awesome though but I was always attracted by pure black cases like those from Corsair, so I took a look at the Obsidian 450D. Design is pretty nice for me but I always knew that I don't like noise and that's when I saw the Fractal Define R4, it has everything I want biggrin.gif

Probably going to miss the bracket that hides the PSU (in the NZXT H440) but some people would wanna show off their expensive PSU whistling.gif brows.gif

Hi guys, Looking for new casing to replace my raidmax smilodon.

budget around 200, have window, decent flow, if possible stylish.

Main reason for replacement is my gpu is too long to fit in smilodon. GPU MSI GTX680 Lightning. the gpu clash with hdd slot. thus i have to pull out hdd slot.

The 2 Corsair cases you mentioned are fine, but with that budget be sure to take a look at the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe too.

I'd get something like the Cosmos SE if you can top up a bit, else can go and try taking a look at the BitFenix Shinobi XL for sheer size, it is an older model though

Agree with hooh888, the Phanteks Enthoo series is worth to consider, can also take a look at the NZXT Phantom series or the new Thermaltake urban series

Guys, I'm having problems with my cables (broke a few blades on my fan also). So, thinking that full tower would be my solution. Had my eyes on Haf X for a long time, but it is an ageing case. Any that you reccomend around that price (rm500-600)?

My needs are cable management, and ability to upgrade if I want e-atx boards, huge cards & probably water cooling in future.

Right now it's trending towards the newer NZXT H440 and Phanteks Enthoo series but i find no fault going for the HAF-X actually so long as it still meet your needs.

at that budget, here are my recommendations:

BitFenix Shinobi XL
NZXT H440
Phanteks Enthoo series
Thermaltake Urban T81
Cooler Master Cosmos SE

Compact ATX... one that comes to mind is the CM N200 or Elite 343....

if you're going for even smaller and don't mind going for a SFX PSU... Silverstone has the ML07 or the RV-Z01 wink.gif

Oic... hmm.. well if a slim full sized mid tower...Elite 361?? it places the PSU at the front of the chassis so it's lower than most chassis that can support full atx mobo but wiring is gonna be a headache

I might suggest fractal design arc Midi R2 http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product...ies/arc-midi-r2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujH42NYOgbI I bought one exactly RM350 including postage

features I like:

- dust filter at front, bottom psu, top. all easily remove.
- come with 3x 140mm fans (rear, front, top). front panel can support up to 2x 140mm fans for better air flow
- 8x 3.5" Hard disk slots (good for my future NAS box project)
- simple look smile.gif

Hey guys,

I went through a small casing phase and got myself a Silverstone SG09. It's been a few years now and I think I'm ready to return to my mid tower cases. Small cases are nice when everything is in place, but I got a headache anytime I wanted to upgrade anything. The case was also quite heavy, something I didn't expect for such a small package.

Can anyone recommend me a cable management friendly mid/mini tower casing that's also lightweight? I prefer something with a less striking look, so no Thermaltake cases for me. The Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 suggested above seems quite nice, but according to the website the casing itself is 10.7kg shocking.gif I haven't done extensive research, but the Cooler Master N200 seems to be like a good candidate. It's a bit on the budget side though, so it's lacking some luxury items such as fan filters and toolless installations.

Relevant specs:
mATX size motherboard
160mm long modular PSU
9.5" GPU
2 HDDs, 1 SSD

Hi guise.. What casing do you recommend with budget rm250? Must have good cable management. The cheaper the better.

NZXT S340, the BEST BUDGET CASE with superb cable management and quality. 90% Steel!! smile.gif Elegant looks! thumbup.gif
Link here, http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/151-s34...r-atx-case.html

And, our LYN Admin(Goldfries) is using this awesome case too.
You can also search Youtube for it's reviews! Example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cNWOgbEXMI

Moreover, if you don't like it's current painting job(glossy) of NZXT S340, you can always buy a powder coat type paint spray and change the casing looks.
Because this casing construction is simple and easy to understand.

IMO any chassis will be better than the one you have, I recommend something like the BitFenix Neos, a very basic one that you could also choose colours wink.gif

Pricelist of their sales.

Damn poisonous.. Corsair Air 240 down to RM239 cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

BTW plain21, last time when I wanted to buy the SilverStone SG09 I had to preorder from the distributor via a seller. Try asking people like lingloong whether his distributor is willing to do the same.

this is atx version there is also m-atx version of this case
Price at RM1399 and RM999 respectively as seen on IdealTech ( I am quite suprised they can get that lower than online retailed price as In-win d frame mini value at $349=RM1000+ in e-bay if not mistaken )
quote me if got a better price.... so intrigue by its design can't decide if want to buy or not.

Hey right now im using Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus casing. I want to buy a new case to be used for a long time, that means the case size must not be a problem if i want to upgrade any hardwares.

Budget - Below rm400
Preferred Brand(s) - Anything
Must-Have-Features - spacey inside, dustfilter for each part (im living in a dusty environment xD), cable management, must have some additional 12cm fan slot

so far im very attracted to fractal design arc midi r2.. I think it suits all my needs especially the dustfilter part..

Have a look at NZXT or Nanoxia line of chassis for inclusion of fan controllers, can't think of any other that has them... else you may wanna get a separate fan controller

NZXT Phantom 530 has fan control ability.

If you don't mind slightly smaller than full-tower (mid tower la) casings there are models like Aerocool Dead Silence DS 200 has built in fan controller.

I heard that NZXT casings are a bit hard to take apart (for upgrades and what not) compared to CM and Corsair.

Has anyone ever come across this issue?

the Arc Mini R2 is a bit harder to find compared to the 350D, personally prefer the Fractal because of the less restrictive airflow and massive 3.5" drive support wink.gif

Well, you could consider the Fractal R5 over the H440. A lot better in case in a lot of areas. There's a windowed version btw.

Silence, cooling performance, modular HDD/optical bay cages (you can even remove the 5.25" bay), MORE ROOM at the back for cables, etc.

Budget : Less than RM400, or any as long as it can do what I want.
Preferred Brand(s) : Any will do as long as it does what I want. (Durable)
Must-Have-Features : Good air flow, Dust filter, Cable management feature, compact
Location : PJ/ Shah Alam

I'm using CM690 for years and recently I change my CPU location and the bulkiness of the size made me wanna change it to a smaller size. Anyone please suggest me something that is compact with good airflow and dust filter as I might be putting near the cupboard on the floor.

EDIT: I believe CM690 is mid tower. I wanna get something smaller than that. Small tower maybe? Will include the proc, GC and number of HDD I am currently using once I reach home, as I do think that would affect the choice of the CPU casing isn't it?

the main thing that would affect your choice is your motherboard size, but yes please list down all the details of what you wanna fit inside a smaller chassis and we'll try and think of all the possible chassis taht will meet your requirements wink.gif

Hello @Clem1982,

Full Black
Silent
Very good air circulation (as my environment is quite hot)
Dust filter (less dust as possible to go in)
Reliability (at least solid not like tofu, on/off button wont easily spoil tongue.gif)
Simple design (not monster-like look, fancy like gamer)
Place on the table beside wall
As less use of screw as possible
Possible cable management

I don't mind how ugly it looks but i just want something that i dont need to clean that often like the cap ayam im using right now, just a week after cleaning inner side full of dust as if like never clean before also i'm not sure why my environment makes all my metal at home easily get rusty =/

I'm actually looking for Lian Li PC-7H / PC-8N, however Lian li casing stock availability with below RM300 like these model will never happen any soon. So, i don't mind getting any brand now as long it meets my requirement above =/

Hope you can help bro

Preferred Brand(s) : Any
Must-Have-Features : modern pc case with nice cable management, removable hardisk cage and dust filter
Location : jb

I have this pc case for 12 years and now i am struggle to put my long graphic card..i think it is time to get better and modern pc case.

TT versa series or the BitFenix Neos or Comrade, even CM's Elite series can do justice wink.gif

QUOTE(jexmond @ Jan 23 2015, 11:15 AM)

*
Can take a look at the Silverstone PS11 this one is really solid but simple and very quiet with dust filters but you do have to get a little creative with cable management a little

QUOTE(Master Ryu @ Jan 23 2015, 08:09 PM)
is it worth to buy this case CARBIDE SPEC-03..my budget under rm220
*
it's one of basic entry level by corsair, if you really like the chassis then just get it, but if you're open to options, take a look at BitFenix Neos or Thermaltake Versa and the CM elite lines

QUOTE(sw1314 @ Jan 25 2015, 09:50 PM)
hey guy.. is the prodigy M is a good buy?
planning to buy it with h97m gaming gigabyte
*
Prodigy M is a good solid chassis with multiple color options, but it's also not your normal chassis and you gotta pay attention to your hardware orientation and airflow is a little weird in the chassis

hmm.. CM Elite 120 ADV is a good bet but if you wanna go a little premium I suggest taking the Silverstone TJ08, it is slightly bigger but the quality on this is amazing for it's size

Fractal Design Define R4 window RM425

I can tell you that Define cases are super silent, can be placed in your bedroom.
It sound very quiet (almost silent) compared to most computer cases I have reviewed so far.

I would advice you to save extra money and get computer cases that are around RM200-300 because anything lower than that,
manufacturers cut back on a lot of things such as inconvenient installation of cables and hard drives, lack of proper dust filters, build material not solid (flimsy and thin).

If you insist on that price range, you can grab Cooler Master N200.
Grab DIY dust filter at RM6. 2 Fan Intake + 1 PSU Fan = 3 (3 x 6 = RM18).

Asunakirito is right, invest a little more and it goes a long way.. I still have my original CM690 at my hometown wink.gif

Maybe you can try going for the Thermaltake Versa series? or go second hand??

hmmm..then what would you recommend if the budget's around rm200? would something like Cooler Master N300/N400 be good?
long lasting is definitely the most important criteria and also cooling so the hardware doesn't heat up and get spoiled easily, and also not too "cool" looking
btw will be using an ATX motherboard so MATX cases are out of the picture

Here are a list of computer cases I would recommend for $200:
1. NZXT H230
2. Bitefenix Neos (My review at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3339205/all) @ RM180
3. Cooler Master Casing ATX Silencio 352 @ RM180

Do take note that computer cases below RM300 budget bracket will have:
1. Difficult time doing cable management (less than 1cm of space behind motherboard tray to tuck cables)
2. The rear brackets are permanently removed (can't be placed back with thumbscrews).
3. Lack of rubber grommets on the motherboard tray holes OR stock computer fan aren't sleeved = not great aesthetic
4. Computer case feet is made of cheap plastic = might slip.
5. Flimsy thin material, easy to bent = side panels difficult to install back into the case.

Hi, I posted earlier in here to get a compact and small casing for my desktop but I couldn't remember my rig.

SO! I am here to repost my question again with the rig. Hope all the sifus can help me with this. tongue.gif

My rig;
Asrock B85M-HDS
Intel E3-1230v3
Leadtek GTX650Ti BOOST 2GD5 O.C

I am looking for some REALLY compact and small casing, preferably with good ventilation. I am curently using CM690 first edition. That casing alone is heavy as crap and space consuming.

Requirement
Small, compact
At least 6 USB port (Optional)
Front 2 USB port (Compulsory)
Mic jack (Optional)

Any sifu can suggest me some compact and small casing with good ventilation would be appreciate. notworthy.gif

Hi guys, planning to change case from my Corsair Air 540, I still love it and all but it's large footprint is beginning to give me a headache. Hope the sifus here can provide me some suggestions based on my requirements stated below, whether or not the case is already in the list of what I have in mind doesn't matter, slight elaboration on why to get what you suggest would be better. Either way thanks in advance guys.

Requirements:
1. Budget: Not more than RM600
2. At least 2 5.25" bays (yes I still use DVD drive, and the other is for NZXT Hue)
3. Must be able to fit 280mm radiator at the top (due to CM Nepton 280L that I'm currently using)
4. Minimum 2 x 2.5" bays, and 3 x 3.5" bays
5. Fully black is a must, but with slight blue accents would be way better
6. Footprint not as wide as the Air 540 (this one should be very easy to fulfill)
7. Almost forgotten, must be able to fit ATX motherboard
8. Must be able to fit long GPU (currently using Gigabyte GTX970 G1 Gaming)
9. PSU cover is a must.

If my complete parts list is required, you may refer to this.

Cases I have in mind:
1. Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (fulfills all requirements above, blue accents only through usage of LED)
2. Phanteks Enthoo Pro (only lack blue accents)
3. NZXT S340 and H440 (lack 5.25" drive bays, but comes in black and blue variant)
4. NZXT Phantom 530 (lack blue accents, need to get modder to make a PSU cover)
5. Corsair Obsidian 450D and 750D (lack blue accents, need to get modder to make a PSU cover)

*
The Phanteks would be a top choice here, the blue accents can be added easilly compared to having to mod 3.5" bays and what not

Hi, Newbie here.
Planning to build a gaming rig, prefer mini ITX. budget for case below RM600.
-Is Corsair- Graphite Series™ 380T Portable Mini ITX Case a good case?
-how much is Graphite Series™ 380T Portable Mini ITX Case?
-any other good recommendation for mini ITX case?
*
for the ultimate MITX chassis, take a look at Silverstone's lineup wink.gif there are others like the Bitfenix Prodigy and the 380T that you mentioned but none as small as the Silverstone's sugo lineup

Names of the casings are NZXT P240/Phantom 240 and S340 by the way.

Others you can consider are CM Storm Scout II RM300-340 or Phanteks Enthoo Pro RM370. brows.gif

Not sure if the Bitfenix Pandora counts, but can be done with some simple modding, since SSD has no moving parts, can just use velcro or something to mount the SSD to the PSU shroud. Sifus correct me if I'm wrong.

The Bitfenix pandora has a dedicated side mount for the SSD at the HDD cage complete with a window, no need to mod

Oops didn't state clearly, I meant aside from Bitfenix Pandora, other cases will require modding to achieve the same thing.

Budget : ~RM200, preferably less
Preferred Brand(s) (e.g. Antec, BitFenix, Cooler Master, Corsair, Nzxt etc) : Brand doesn't really matter
Must-Have-Features (e.g. M-ATX only, Rubber grommets, Circular shaped, can fly... etc.. you get what this means) :
I have Micro ATX board so need to have support for that
With fans (the more the better) but at least 2 for 1 in and 1 out
USB 3.0 in front
Smaller better but GPU is ~10inches so must fit
Anything which makes the case looks nicer would be an extra bonus (LED fans, coloured accents on the case etc.) but not a must.

Also, I don't really know where to get the cases so if anyone replying to this can provide a link as well, it's be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

All are okay, I don't really like the Aerocool X1 though tongue.gif Zalman chassis... not much variety in the shops so probably a good idea to ask online vendors like Idealtech or Apes, no worries about your components, all can fit wink.gif

S340 is good... if you have no need for an external 5.25" bay at the front, very mod friendly too, and yes all your components will fit inside of it, no worries

Hey everyone,

Would love some suggestions for this one. I'm looking for the smallest casing that supports:

1) mATX
2) Normal size expansion slot (not low profile)
3) Maximum width of 180mm
4) Has one fan intake slot and one exhaust slot (top or rear, NOT side)
5) USB 3.0

The smallest one I've found is the SilverStone PS08 (23.85 litres). Coming in second is the Cooler Master Elite 361 (25.61 litres). Are there any others I might be missing?

If it weren't for the width requirement, I would've just went for smaller SFF casings. If it weren't for the expansion slot requirement, would've went for one of those slim HTPC ones from SilverStone.

Have you taken a look at Bitfenix or Aerocool Matx Chassis?? but yes they are quite big for an SFF chassis but still smaller compared to normal mid towers... going more premium will be the BitFenix Pandora but it is a slim profile chassis

Didn't really look into those, just skimmed through. Doesn't seem like they have anything that fits my requirements though sad.gif the Pandora is slim width wise, but still quite big.

Well caselabs are expensive, and the S8s is a huge one at that, other alternatives maybe Corsair Air 540 or CM HAFXB... else another will be the Bitfenix Atlas (has yet to be launched) but even then they will not be s spacious in comparison... but they are kinda big already lol

Fractal Design's Define S can be more silent if you don't mount any fans on top. And I think you mean Phanteks Enthoo Pro M? If so then they are similar in many ways, though the Pro M has a single 5.25" drive bay if you do need it, and maximum of 7 or 8 slots of 3.5" drives if required(need purchase additional bracket as at stock the case comes with 2 slots only) whereas the Define S has only 3 slots for 3.5" drives without option for additional slots. So it all depends on what you're using it for but if it's just gaming you won't need more than 2 3.5" bays.

Hi Sifus,

Wanted to ask, what is the best Mid-Tower casing that has good airflow and full dustproof that has dust filters covering top, front and bottom? So far after some researching, the one that I found to my liking is Obsidian 450D, but the price now with GST + weak RM is making me cry.gif doh.gif cry.gif

I wanna ask is there other alternatives? Or if not, where can I get 450D cheapest? icon_question.gif

no choice on the RM dropping but there are other options for chassis, for starters maybe CM 690III or a Bitfenix Ronin or even the Shinobi wink.gif there is also ones from thermaltake with full dust filters wink.gif

yea... the weak RM is killing us... doh.gif

hmm... but the cases that you suggest, they're so biiiig.....
I scared my table cant support heavy casing + hardware that is why i choose 450D, that means there is no other options?
The thermalktake one, may i know what model is that?

Budget: Below RM 350
Preferred Brand(s): None
Must-Have-Features: ATX, Solid, Good airflow but need to be covered as much as possible - full mesh is no-no (if possible no need to worry about accidental spills on the case - I have a clumsy housemate)

Any recommended PC case ?

1. price range : 350-450 +-, of course cheaper better. smile.gif
2. Able to remove the front grill/ or even top grill , so that i can clean my front/top 2x140/120mm fans easily.
Just an example :Obsidian Series® 450D Mid-Tower PC Case
3. Provide good ventilation.

Doesn't matter if the case looks ugly etc.

Thank you. tongue.gif

Currently using CM690 for few years already. Want to change it to a small and compact size as I am bored with bulky size casing.

Currently using these;
Leadtek GTX650Ti BOOST 2GD5 O.C
Intel E3-1230v3
Asrock B85M-HDS

Budget - Below RM400
Preferred Brand(s) - ANY, as long as it does not electrocute me. laugh.gif
Must-Have-Features - Small, compact, good ventilation.
Location - SEL/KL

Suggested to take this Carbide Series® SPEC-03 Red LED Mid-Tower Gaming Case. Want to hear more opinion from other forumers.

Since you use mATX mobo, why not Bitfenix Phenom mATX version?

Hi there, thank you for the reponse. Would like to ask if there is any other smaller in size compared to this? What's the difference between the one you mentioned and Carbide Series® SPEC-03 Red LED Mid-Tower Gaming Case?

Thanks alot.

Obvious difference is:
Phenom is for mATX (mini-tower) while SPEC-03 is for ATX (mid-tower)....short vs taller.
Phenom hardware orientation is different from normal casing. (front PSU / upside-down mobo).
Phenom airflow also have different direction compare to normal casing (from top to rear/bottom).
Phenom appearance is simple & sleek compare to SPEC-03 which is bit fierce to me.

Maybe you can search an online review for both case (or any case you interested) as many as you can before deciding.

As I am placing it on top of my table, align with my keyboard and monitor, would it cause extra heat to my CPU as well? I honestly do not care of the design as I am already giving up on looks. It's the size and compact-ability that I want.

Thank youu! smile.gif

Not sure about that, have to ask real owner of this casing. Clem1982, any thought of this?

Or do you interested in Sugo SG02F?

Cooling on the Phenom-M is actually okay as you could mount fans on the top and bottom as intake and the exhaust to the back.. just keep in mind that you can't install 3.5" Hdd at the bottom if you go for this config, best to use 2.5" drives and SSD for this on the side cage that comes with it wink.gif and yes, it is not the smallest chassis around for mATX chassis

Other chassis that you could consider would be Corsair air240, Aerocool DS cube, Silverstone SG08, Xigmatex Gigas, Corsair 350D, Fractal define Mini, Silverstone FT03... lol lots... just google wink.gif

thumbup.gif Good~! Even though that Air240 not really small in term footprint size....still unique casing nonetheless.

Intel Xeon E3 1230 v2
ASROCK H87 Pro4
Kingston Value RAM 8GB
Sapphire R9 270
WD 500Gb HDD x 2

at that budget, I think you have chosen the best chassis around wink.gif I don't remember anything else that will let you keep your budget.

Between the two, I'd go for the Elite 130 for the 5.25" external bay, maybe not for an ODD but there are a few things that you could place there in the future wink.gif

Thank you for your feedback. i was thinking Elite 130 also but most of the review that i read are concern about airflow and high temperature inside the case. Since im planning to use stock heat sink for processor so hopefully its not as bad as people said.

Good morning sifus smile.gif
I'm planning to change my current casing (CM K280) to a smaller and plain-looking m-atx case (taste changed, like it small and simple now tongue.gif ).
So I'm currently eyeing on the Fractal Design Core 1000, do you have any other suggestion? hmm.gif

Fractal Design Core 1000:
Awkward HDD positioning
Top mounted PSU - inhale hot air from CPU cooler & GPU
Single intake fan
Rear fan only fit 92mm which is rare / hard to find good one
Bad cable management space

But I also like the appearance...

Add few more RM to get Fractal Design Arc Mini R2...or see my previous post for cheaper option.

Thanks for the case interior analysis notworthy.gif But I don't really like the CM N200, cos the width is a bit wider (202mm vs 175mm) it looks fat tongue.gif
And I just found out SilverStone PS08 is quite affordable (RM129), is it good? hmm.gif

EDIT: Top mounted PSU taking in hot hair from CPU & GPU will harm the PSU? hmm.gif

27mm=2.7cm is not noticeable in real life...as for me la... Also it's better for taller CPU heatsink.
PS08 vs Core 1000, i'll take Core 1000 anytime

For PSU matter, in long term not good for PSU health....

*I found Idealtech selling Fractal Design Core 1300. Try look at it, maybe...

Smallest is this:

Since you use mATX mobo, why not Bitfenix Phenom mATX version?

Check with you guys, corsair carbide 240 air vs bitfenix prodigy M, which one is better? Or you guys have any other suggestion?

My requirement for casing is

1) Dust Filter - Really useful as I'm using big CM ATCS 840 case with filter and really block a lot of dust.

2) Easy Cable management - Have space to tuck in motherboard cable, going to get modular PSU anyway but would be prefer as neatly as possible, would like to have rubber grommet as well.

3) M-ATX casing, going to get M-ATX motherboard, but getting a graphic card that required three blocks of space. Which is Palit Super Jetstream 980Ti. But welcome other form factor, as long is small.

4) Cheap as possible. Around the price of corsair carbide 240 air or lower.

Thanks!

Air 240 is better imo, fully dust proof better airflow, but can only low profile cooler 120mm, not sure u use water or air cooling.

Since u going mATX can consider Fractal Design Node 804 too RM439.

Hello.

I am hesitating between S340 or Fractal arc midi R2.

And also between H440 and Fractal design R5.

Not sure if i want to spend 300+ on a casing or issit really worth it to spend the extra 100RM on the H440 or R5. Any one can give me some input or feedback or advice?

Depending to what you want.
Like my AMD CPU always maintaining at 45-49°C as using CM's Hyper 101(for up to 95W while CPU about 100W), so limitation is at the cooler, not the casing.
Secondly is the bling factor, this is quite subjective.
Lastly, sure is how much you willing to spend. For me, cooling performance and 0 bling factor is important.

For me i like the design of S340.. The dust filter of the arc midi r2. And the silentness of the R5 and also the dust filter. And for h440. its purely the design and also the dust filter part. I guess the dust filter plays the main concern as im quite lazy to clean the internal regularly. What stopping me from the R5 or H440 is im not sure if i want to spend so much on a casing. Haha

Well, with or without filter your casing still will let dust enter.

All the case u listed is pretty good already. Go with whichever suits your budget and design that u like better. I like the Fractal more because some of NZXT back part can be tight for cable management, but that is just a minor issue. For H440 and R5 you are paying more for the sound dampening material in the casing and extra features like fan hub.

lots of chassis is that wide or more from cheap Aerocool to the premium like lian li

my recommendation? get the Silverstone RV05 chassis, it's very unique and for the price is worth it

don't get the 380T because I had it before, and it's kinda flimsy on their construction. if you have the budget you can look into the ncase m1 (currently using) and it's a really good case. if you want for best bang for the buck, you can get the Prodigy which has better build quality over the 380T. if you are interested, I'm currently seling my Prodigy, you can see it here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3710631&hl= biggrin.gif

never say what cooler you use. RM250 is hard to recommend for new casing cause it's mid way, you may find higher end used casing if lucky.

it's one of the nicest 'silent' cases, pricey but worth it imo. there is optical drive bay if you need it, lots of HDD racks which can all be removed or repositioned (modular). Drives have to be screwed in, no tooless though. has removable dust filter that can be accessed from the front. the only bad part imo is the price tongue.gif

u can also look at H440 NZXT which is also silent case.

using a Define R5 Blackout Edition, no regrets tongue.gif

have to agree with you 90% both on the specs and the price
when in light loads (e.g no playing games, browsing + movie) almost dead silence, only once awhile can hear the hdd activity spinning.
If paired with a GPU with zero fanspeed when under 65 degrees, can say the case is the best in terms of silence laugh.gif

the remaining 10% is pure personal preferences and I have to say I have zero complaints as the case is wub.gif

You can try looking CM 690 III, it has excellent price range.

- dust filter top, front, and bottom ( removable )
- 1x 200mm front fan, 1x 120mm rear fan
- windowed side panel

i using one, it's good. rigid and solid.

ya, but its discontinued last year, so not sure I can find it here in Sabah or not. Normally if postage to Sabah from KL, how much it cost?

and for the current cm 690 iii, do they have rubber grommets at mobo tray and thumbscrews at expansion slot for the black windowed eidtion? I heard that they dont have those in earlier build

You can buy from Idealtech @ postage.

it's still in production, yes, they now have rubber grommets at the mobo tray and also the psu area.

It's all thumbscrews for window/non-window version.

I'm looking for a budget case around 330-350. So far i'm thinking of getting NZXT S340, Phanteks Eclipse P400 or InWin 703. Can you suggest which one is better? Or do you have any better suggestion around that price range?

Thanks in advance.

Also I think the front intake is severely narrow.

But mine I ask how to do closing ?

Im put those case on the table, so there is no dust compare on the ground.
Im using fx8350 cpu+id cooling 240l- max temperature stress test below 50°C
For gpu,im using hd 6850(single fan) no aio,no aftermarket cooler - max temp 70°c below. Quite nice for amd
For clean, i onli wipe tempered glass.

Hi guys, I'm looking for casing recommendations to fit the following:
MSI H61m-P31/W8 motherboard
Corsair VS650 power supply
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card
3 X 3.5'' Hard Disks (1TB, 2TB, 3TB)

I would prefer Small Form Factor if possible? Budget I would expect not too expensive, thanks!

Hi guys,

I'm currently looking for a case that can fit the following

micro-atx motherboard
gtx 1070 strix oc
id cooling 240mm radiator
1 intake fan and 1 output fan (besides the one occupied by the radiator)

and i would prefer if it had a side panel window.
& dust filters would be sweet

My budget is around 200-260 (maybe slightly more)

The ones i am currently considering are:
1)bitfenix pandora M-ATX - RM265 (Cable management and build quality seems to be a nightmare)
2)tecware quad - the 240mm radiator mount is inside the case and blocked by a glass window, so i'm not sure if it will affect my temps adversely

Thank you for your time.. notworthy.gif

Im considering either of this cases. Thermal Take P3 / Corsair crystal 460x.

Can this 2 case fit the below:
-corsair h100i v2 cpu cooler
-gtx1070/gtx1080
-thermal take 850w psu
-gskill trident z 8gbx2 rams
-asus prime z270p mobo

Any clearance issues regarding these hardwares? as i might build this rig myself.

Corsair H100i v2 is a 240mm rad AIO:
Corsair Crystal 460 case - No problem
Thermaltake P3 case - no problem

Since no reservoir involved, both cases can accommodate GTX1070/1080 without issues

normally cpu aio watercooler will not affect ram kits right? unless using something like a cooler master 212 might affect ram clearance?

The only thing you need to worry about with AIO coolers is the ability of the selected case to accommodate the rad. With air coolers, RAM clearance will need to be considered due to the cooler's fan

I can think of the following:
In Win BL-series and CE-series
Thermaltake's SD200
Cooler Master's Mini 210

On where to buy, you will need to do some googling

EDIT : You could check out Silverstone too. Recommended seller here. FYI, Idealtech also does inWin. Maybe they can help you order

Sooo this thread is so damn dead.

Still trying my luck here:
Budget: Below RM400
Size: MATX only
Weight: Preferably on lighter side which is 6kg or below
Additional: Would be nice to have dust filter, ample cable management, rubber feet or rubber for psu, removable 5.25" bay.

good morning all, any casing or hardware able to prevent dust?

I found that if casing have too many fans to keep the device cooling but it makes the casing attract more dust.

any solution for this?

Hi everyone, need some advice on changing to a smaller casing (if its possible based on the spec below) because I will be moving abroad soon.

Processor : i7-7700
RAM : 8GB (1 pc)
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Mobo : ASUS Prime B250M-A
GPU : ASUS GeForce GTX1070 8GB Strix
PSU : Corsair TX650M
CPU Cooler : CM Hyper 212

I've asked a few shops but they either seemed reluctant to help or do not have the right casing due to GPU size too big. I can change the CPU Cooler to the stock cooler if that helps with space constraint. Current casing is Thermaltake Versa H24 which is too big to fit inside the luggage bag.

I don't have much knowledge in desktop modding but I did some research and I think this casing (http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-itx/elite130/) can fit all the parts above? Budget wise, 300-400 but if I can get the smallest possible casing for slightly higher price, I don't mind paying more.

Thanks everyone

I'm looking to build a micro ATX rig.
Right now looking at Thermaltake Core V21 case as the first choice.

Any suggestions what other cases could be a better choice?

At least can fit 2x3.5 hdd and 2x2.5 ssd

Hi,

Can someone help me to choose a new case close to tecware nexus m looks. Looking for matx case with enough clearance for AIO mounted on top .

Im currently on nexus m case and trying to find some option to make it more cooler for noise reduction. Im unable to mount the AIO(ID Cooling 240) with fans on top as it is hitting the ram, currently mounted it on the front, adding more heat to my gpu.

budget: less than 400

Update : Considering the one below
- NZXT h500/h500i
- any others?

Must-Have-Features :
ATX is fine, matx is preferred.
Graphic card is 3 fan type long (320mm length)
Need to support 240mm radiator + fan setup at top
Good selection of front AIO (usb 3.1 gen2 a must + additional 3.1/3.0 to be preferred)

Currently using Thermaltake Versa J21
- cant mount 240mm radiator at top, blocked by RAM.
- mount at front does heat up when gpu on load
- front panel for versa j21 doesn't allow for good intake or exhaust, air intake only at bottom of front panel.

Location: kl/pj if possible

Thanks..

I got wonky non-standard power button on my current case. Looking for a replacement. After looking around. I've shortlisted these E-ATX cases

Thermaltake Level 20 XT (Cheapest) - RM746
Fractal Design Define S2 Vision Blackout (still have to buy 4x SSD brackets) - RM859
Corsair Crystal 680X (Very expensive) - RM1119

Seems like Level 20 XT has the best value.

I'm looking for a case that has a lot of drive bays.
I currently need 4 HDD slot. With plan to expand to around 8 in the coming few months. And up to 12 in the long term.

After some google searches, most case suggested are rather hard to find locally. Rather not pay shipping for a case.

So, do you guys have suggestion of a suitable case that is available locally.

The one i did see have local seller is the Fractal Design Design 7 XL. But at a whooping RM950 im hoping for a cheaper alternative if anyone have any suggestion.

something like Tecware VXR size but want to try other more reputable brand, the tempered glass broke right in front of me unexpectedly, not sure is it due to heat or it hit something sharp when I was re-arranging them.

anyone experience similar mishap?

Looking for suggestion for suitable matx case. Not tempered glass. I'm kinda like nexus M2 but its tempered glass. prefer that almost look like itx but its just matx form. if next time go itx, can reuse also. migrating from Nzxt 510i (wrong buy).

I have MSI B450M Mortar Max, Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 and PSU: S.Flower 650W Leadex II. Hope these 3 item fit. if vertical mount gpu also ok.

currently see tecware fusion.

I am also looking for something like this. So far came across 2 items that probably be what you want

1) Silverstone MM01

2) Advantech Industrial PC casings

Can't find where to buy the MM01 and Industrial PC casings a bit too sharp around the edges for me. Any other suggestions?

Recently i saw the Fractal Design North casing and i really like the classy looks of the casing. Is there any other similar or nicer looking case within similar price range or cheaper?
