The list they release is for initial launch countries, eventually they will expand availability to more countries, including Malaysia. Just hope it's not too distant future. If like Moto X's case, late for 8 months, fans passion already dropped.

i wonder how many units they have under production? 10? 100? 1000? they have less than 7k members in the forum. and not everyone is from the 16 launch countries. do they really need such a system to ensure to "out of stocks" issue?!?

I believe invite system are for them to estimate stocks needed. It's quite unique but I still think pre-order system is enough. Just open up on 23rd April since it wont available straight away. I would even goes into pre-order that open right now, where we pay upfront for ensure getting unit ASAP.

Seems like OnePlus had initial success in building hype, seeing how big company at China all launch new products at 23rd or nearby date to try steal away attention.

if anyone really, really must have this phone when it is finally available, good idea to login and change your country in the profile. put a launch country like USA or Hong Kong. dunno if they will issue invites based on country, but never hurts to try.

They are a new company,they dont have manufacturing prowess like Samsung.
I think they will OEM from Foxconn, but i dont think they will get enough unit for launch.

as Someonesim said... they are using OPPO manufacturing line. the thing is... i think even the OnePlus One guys aren't confident in their product and didn't place the 'right' amount to the manufacturer. i mean... if they wanted to make forumers happy, they could easily just say that anyone who joined forum until this morning can buy one unit. there are only 6000+ members. how hard can it be? and since those not in the forum would not have heard of the phone... makes good sense to give to forumers. then there won't be any upset members.

Actually we forgot about chinese forum there , potential there can be high but had more tough choices there, since china brand's phone spec and build quality are getting better.
