########## AVAILABILITY & PRICING ##########

Unfortunately, stocks is going to be an issue. So, no official availability for Malaysia yet.

QUOTE
Sales will start in May 2014.

However, for the first few months, sales will be by invitation only and limited to 16 launch countries and regions. Currently, the launch countries are:
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.

China too.

As for the invite system, no details yet like how many units per invite, etc... But not that sales in China is NOT using invite system. It should be the normal/ regular way of selling phones. Only thing -- China version does not come with CynogenMod 11s.

The OnePlus One will cost:

Note: Hong Kong seems to be the cheapest so far.

For USA... 16GB will cost...

The 64GB... See spoiler. The price may make one go crazy... Yes, it pwns even Nexus 5.

How can it be so cheap? One possible explanation can be found here:
http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/04/he...nsumer-low.html

Anyway, OnePlus did say later, they will reveal the cost breakdown. It's also interesting to note that OnePlus did mention before that their financial backer (BBK) is allowing them to have no profit for the first two years of operations. So, OnePlus says the phone is being sold without profit. They will make some money from accesosries like the Swap Style cases.

QUOTE
How do I get an invite?
The main method of getting invites will be through others. In the beginning, when not a lot of other people have the device, you'll be able to get invites through contest and raffles. We have planned ways so our early fans, as well as people who weren't here from the beginning will be able to obtain invites.

When do the next batch of invites roll out?
The first real batch of invites roll out late May, and will be of the 64GB Sandstone Black version. Any invites that you might have been promised before this, will be sent during this time.

How long are invites valid for?
For invites that you receive, they are typically valid for 24 hours. If they expire, they get returned to sender so someone else can get a chance to buy it. Alternatively, you can ask for the sender to resend it to you. For invites that you can give away, they are usually valid for longer, usually 1-2 weeks.

How many invites can I give away?
This varies. In the beginning, the quantities will be smaller, but increased as time goes by. You will frequently receive new invites to give away as production ramps up.

When do I receive invites to give away?
You do not automatically receive invites when you purchase a phone. We will need to manually roll them out according to our operations situation.

It would be a shame to hide the One’s beautiful design under a bulky case just to avoid wear and tear. We've introduced our unique range of StyleSwap exchangeable back covers, so you can not only add a bit of a personality to your OnePlus One, but also easily swap out a dinged case without needing to replace the whole device. StyleSwap covers come in a range of materials and textures, including kevlar, bamboo and denim on top of standard silk and sandstone. Now you can customize your phone for the look and feel you prefer, and change it up whenever you'd like.

The phone will come with CyanogenMod support for two years, a Cyanogen Inc. team member said on the OnePlus forums, and will pack Google Apps. Furthermore, buyers will have the option of doing anything to the phone when it comes to rooting, unrooting, installing stock Android or other custom ROMs without voiding the warranty. However, disassembling and/or “frying your CPU due to over-clocking will void your warranty” David said on Reddit.

from: http://bgr.com/2014/03/19/oneplus-one-desi...yleswap-covers/

“Engineers and designers spend a lot of time creating the specific look for a phone, but then people tend to cover it up with a case. Don’t you think that it’s a pity to cover up a beautiful device?” OnePlus CEO Pete Lau wrote. “We believe that the appeal and beauty of a device should speak for itself. Adding size and bulk to a phone for protection is a thing of the past.”

He further added that the designs “are durable and attractive, but still durable and strong.” Furthermore, some the StyleSwap covers will be made of their own respective materials, aside from the Silk and Sandstone versions. The company has also kicked off a contest on its Facebook page, with one lucky winner to be flown to Hong Kong to try out the back of the handset.

In the recent weeks, OnePlus revealed the phone will not have a user-replaceable battery, while a design sketch of the phone exclusively obtained by BGR revealed the One will have a unibody design.

It’s not clear how the whole StyleSwap customization process is done, and whether the phone will come in some default color versions, which could then be customized by special case purchases. Also, even though the StyleSwap Covers are replaceable, it’s not clear whether the phone will offer users access to a microSD slot for expandable memory.

That’s just a bit over a month from now, but we’ve waited this long for all the official details, and I’m sure we can hold out just a bit longer. What we already know about the OnePlus One has us excited. Here are the early specs we’re told to look forward to:
* Qualcomm Snapdragon 801
* 3,100mAh battery with QuickCharge (charges to 75% in 30 minutes)
* 5.5-inch 1080p HD display
* 13 megapixel f/2.0 Sony EXMOR camera with 4K video recording
* Custom version of CyanogenMod with touchless controls

All of this is supposed to be coming to us for under $400, though an exact price point has yet to be formally determined. The OnePlus One is looking to arrive in Q2 2014, so prepare those wallets if this is shaping up to be a device you can see yourself walking around with.

What's interesting is that there won't be a 32GB version, as the One will be offered in 16GB and 64GB flavors. The larger storage option will come at a price close to what other companies ask for 32GB models, OnePlus notes. Rumored to be made out of metal, the One will also sport a notification LED.

The battery specs haven't been revealed just yet, but it did become clear the phone will last more than a day on a single charge. There's also a new and interesting technology, which it'll be utilizing, too.

The OnePlus One will be the only phone the company makes this year. It's also planning to double its size from the 150-employee company it is now. Those are very bold plans and we'll see how things pan out for the optimistic phonemaker.

The upcoming OnePlus One droid has made yet another appearance before its official announcement, paying the Antutu benchmark a visit. The most prominent member of the Cyanogen Mod team, the guys behind the handset’s ROM, shared a screenshots with its performance in the popular benchmark.

Even though the name of the device wasn’t explicitly confirmed, that fact the post was reshared by the official OnePlus account tells you everything there is to know here.

So now that we know what the device is, let’s focus on the score. 36,715 points is an excellent achievement, topping the Galaxy Note 3’s result even though the two handset share the same chipset – Snapdragon 800.

Obviously the CM ROM is somewhat lighter than TouchWiz and leaves some extra processing power at the user’s disposal.

As previously confirmed, the OnePlus One will go on sale in its first 10 markets in Q2 (which starts in less than a month). The pricing is confirmed to be below $400, but that’s probably before local taxes are applied.

note: its official that processor will now be Snapdragon 801 instead of Snapdragon 800.

from: http://liliputing.com/2014/03/oneplus-one-...in-q2-2014.html

The OnePlus One will be available in 10 countries at launch, including the United States. It’s expected to be sold directly to consumers for under $500. There are currently no plans to partner with wireless carriers, but the phone will be a GSM device that supports 4G LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks. It won’t support Verizon or Sprint, and there are currently no plans for a dual-SIM model.

We would like to thank all our suppliers. Without their support over the past few months, the OnePlus One wouldn't be possible.

figured maybe we should try to get benny888's opinion on this. no doubt there's not much info yet on this -- like how it looks, amount of RAM, etc...

but at least outright stated warranty not void when we flash (unless we overclock and kill the chip)... then there's the price (below usd400).

Steve Kondik's post on Google+
https://plus.google.com/+SteveKondik/posts/Koc2SLKuhjR

QUOTE
By now you may have seen or heard of +OnePlus, a young company looking to make an impact with the upcoming release of their first device.

From the beginning +CyanogenMod was their OS of choice to power the device; well before hardware was even planned or engineering units were produced.

I met Pete, their CEO, while he was still at Oppo and as Cyanogen Inc. was playing catch up with the N1 device. We were chatting about the incumbents in the device market and how CM's community and growth is driven by the users. We do not have a marketing campaign, no fulltime PR team and no ads on the Superbowl. But still we manage to grow at a steady rate. The growth we see is all about the users genuinely enjoying our work, the customization & expression of self it offers and advocating for it.

Most hardware vendors have lost sight of the user piece. Money is spent piling in new specs, features, and silly ads but it seems like no one takes that step back to say "is this useful for the people buying it?

Pete and I discussed what a new model for hardware vendors would look like. Not quite a modular phone (that market is a few years out), but something less rigid than the status quo. Much like CM lets the user's voice shine through the software, there should be a way for the users voice to resonate through the hardware. Listen to the community at the design phase for starters. Yes, you'll get wildly differing opinions, but this information is invaluable - they are practically telling you what it would take for them to buy your product, it would be downright stupid to ignore that. Maybe you can't get everything off of everyone's wish list, just showing that you are listening will keep those people interested in your future products.

The team at OnePlus understands this. They are asking the right questions on their forums, running community polls about hardware and software components. By focusing their efforts to online marketing only, they can pass on savings to the users. The build quality and design of the devices we have been working with are what you would expect from a premium phone. A top of the line phone with 90% of what most people want in a phone for a reasonable price, this should be the model OEMs follow.

I'm glad to say that we are involved in that revolution.
