well, now you have OnePlus One. smile.gif

anyway, seems OPPO is the contract manufacturer for OnePlus. so, the build quality (or lack of it --  sorry, no experience with OPPO products yet, so not sure which way it goes) should be similar.

Most tech review told that, their product(Oppo Find 5 and N1) quality are very solid build. Well, we not too far away from the OnePlus One official announcement event. nod.gif

Friend told me there's shop at LowYat plaza sell/demo Oppo phone, could go touch touch, but am still hold my money toward One+ One or Nexus 6.

Processor now confirmed to be Snapdragon 801 (AC variant) clocked at 2.5GHz. It'll come with 3GB RAM.

see: http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/the-onep...864/#post-35609
did i mention it'll ship with CyanaogenMod and will have at least 2 years support from CM team?

all these... and more... for below usd400 (US pricing). smile.gif

good chance i might get one myself. just hope officially coming to MY.
*
Good chance ? I'm certain to get it ASAP. Then gonna compare to current N5 only decide to keep which, most probably let go N5.

well, i dun like to be someone to say 100% unless its already in my hands. even queuing up to buy anything... never know... comes to your turn, they put up a sign that says SOLD OUT.

for me... i still have my love for Note 2. but yes, this OnePlus is really giving me reasons to love it more with each tease/ announcement.

i just need some more 'proof' on the camera + some other usability...

I decide so early due to their consistence to #NeverSettle, been satisfied with spec so far, should not be disappoint on software/OS given CM was quiet for some times. Most important aspect is, below $400 price tag is a no-brainer for me, like how I unable to resist Nexus for many generation.

ya, with that price tag and the official CM support, i'm just kinda surprised the more techie members in this forum is not really interesting or posting here...

Maybe still slow ? Dont think every phone geek will know about OPO. OnePlus doesnt have these engineered leak like other phone's trend now.

I dont like large phone as well, but initial speculation that OPO should be slightly longer than Nexus 5, so I had no issue with it.

Regarding availability, they recently reveal there will be online store.

QUOTE
Let’s talk about how shopping at OnePlus will be like. Our goal is to make the OnePlus online shopping experience as friendly for the user as possible. To accomplish this, we chose to focus on three areas: localization, logistics and customer service.

Will the shopping experience be perfect from the beginning? I don’t think so. As a young startup, we’re bound to make a lot of mistakes on the way. However, with your help, patience and guidance, I’m confident that we can make the OnePlus shopping experience great together. We look forward to start shipping.

If there’s something that needs clarification after reading this post, don’t hesitate to ask.

Localization

When you visit OnePlus, it will feel like visiting any local e-commerce website from your country. It will be in your native language, the currency you pay in will be your local currency, and all aspects of the experience will be catered to your region. For instance on the product page where we talk about network connectivity, we will also show you what carriers the OnePlus One is compatible with in your country.

Logistics

Shopping online internationally can be painful, with long delivery times, poor communication, and customs issues. To improve this experience, we will have multiple warehouses in every continent we serve, and your package will always be shipped from the warehouse closest to you. This will help ensure safe and speedy delivery.

European customers are often worried about customs and VAT when purchasing goods from outside of Europe. By the time you purchase the OnePlus One, we would already have imported them into the European Union, and paid all associated fees and taxes. The device will be shipped from one of our EU warehouses. The EU is still trying to unify the laws and taxes across the different countries, so some countries might still act a bit differently. However, this means that in 99.9% of the cases, EU customers will not be faced with any customs issues when buying their OnePlus.

Customer Service

When you have questions or face problems with your product, there will be three ways to obtain help: knowledge base, forums, and by contacting our customer service team.

We will keep updating a knowledge base with the most common questions, so that you can find your answer immediately, without the need to wait for a response.

The OnePlus Forums is growing into a great community where people discuss the latest technology, help each other out, and make new friends. This is also a great way to receive help for simpler questions.

In addition, we’ll also have a dedicated customer service team ready to assist. As we start out, the customer service will operate from the OnePlus HQ. All agents will possess great English skills, and with the help of modern translation tools, will even be able to help you in your local language if you don’t feel like requesting help in English. Depending on how well our products are received, we may expand our customer service team to other regions in the near future.

If in the rare chance that your product has quality issues, you will be taken care of by the warehouse closest to you. Our warehouses also double as service locations, and depending on region and circumstance, will pick up your device or have you send it. Of course, if we are to blame for the issues, we’ll also take care of the costs.

not true haha. Maybe its the other way around. They dont want to compete with Oppo and shift towards European markets where penetration of Chinese brands are slower.

So you guys were right, doesn't look like there will be a Malaysian release. Since the spots are taken up by Spain, Portugal and Italy. Looks like its coming to Singapore.
*
High chance it's coming to Malaysia, as Pete had mentioned they targeting market like Thailand, Malaysia etc.
The list they release is for initial launch countries, eventually they will expand availability to more countries, including Malaysia. Just hope it's not too distant future. If like Moto X's case, late for 8 months, fans passion already dropped.

sadly, this OnePlus had turned into a major fiasco, imho...

invites are needed to purchase the phone?!? seriously?!?

i wonder how many units they have under production? 10? 100? 1000? they have less than 7k members in the forum. and not everyone is from the 16 launch countries. do they really need such a system to ensure to "out of stocks" issue?!?
*
I believe invite system are for them to estimate stocks needed. It's quite unique but I still think pre-order system is enough. Just open up on 23rd April since it wont available straight away. I would even goes into pre-order that open right now, where we pay upfront for ensure getting unit ASAP.

Seems like OnePlus had initial success in building hype, seeing how big company at China all launch new products at 23rd or nearby date to try steal away attention.

China biggies want you to forget OnePlus

anyway... regarding the invites...

if anyone really, really must have this phone when it is finally available, good idea to login and change your country in the profile. put a launch country like USA or Hong Kong. dunno if they will issue invites based on country, but never hurts to try.
*
Good idea. I had friend at Canada and Taiwan, could ask them to ship here, if receive invite.

potong stim la... was already holding out on a new phone purchase this year to replace my KOing note 2.... now they drop a news that initial purchase need invitation...

They hype up the product so much.. then tell everyone only a small number of ppl will be able to get the phone... thanks for pouring cold water lah.
*
'Initial', they will push production line into more units and countries available. No issue for me to wait OPO until Nexus 6 available which will be end of the year.
So just hold on bro nod.gif

They are a new company, they dont have manufacturing prowess like Samsung.
I think they will OEM from Foxconn, but i dont think they will get enough unit for launch.
even HTC One have production Problem before
*
They will use Oppo's production line to manufacture since under same mother company.

as Someonesim said... they are using OPPO manufacturing line. the thing is... i think even the OnePlus One guys aren't confident in their product and didn't place the 'right' amount to the manufacturer. i mean... if they wanted to make forumers happy, they could easily just say that anyone who joined forum until this morning can buy one unit. there are only 6000+ members. how hard can it be? and since those not in the forum would not have heard of the phone... makes good sense to give to forumers. then there won't be any upset members.

but they didn't do it.

which makes me wonder... maybe they only like like 5000 units to sell or something?!?

i'd have thought they would have at least got 10000 units or maybe even 50000. no need to go million.
*
Actually we forgot about chinese forum there blink.gif , potential there can be high but had more tough choices there, since china brand's phone spec and build quality are getting better.
