I do buy nokia phone from a retailer friend who takes stock from directly from zitron/avaxx. Supplier told him that the model's production has been discontinued. This is what he revert to me.

I went to nokia gardens yesterday to look for 1020 and the malay sales rep told me the same thing.

Might be true then. But I have yet to hear any news of it being discontinued though.
If it is then there might be a new one coming already.

this is common situation when successor will be announced soon.

Yes pretty sure it's a shortage of stock not discontinued..
From the first week I own my 1020 and joining this thread there is already shortage.
The amount of stocks they have aren't many for sure and there is zero real news saying it's discontinued lol.

Is WP 8.1 stable enough/ still have a lot of bugs? I'm still on Lumia Black until now.. but sometimes will feel like trying out 8.1 because of the new features.

Battery Life Feedback:

One of the complaints we got is the battery life. What I did so far is to set my 1020 to full time battery saving features : Setting>Battery Saver>Battery Saving set 'On' - 'Always'.

That way one charge can last me about 48 hours. No doubt whatsapps will only update when we turn it on only. Which I think is a good thing. That can prevent constant 'bing' all the time, disturbing peace and work.

After upgrading it to 8.1 and its subsequent update, it actually lasts slightly longer.

Just to share.

There is already like a 3rd update already for 8.1.
Not sure why some are holding it out since it's the best update ever.
You are missing all the feature which should be built in since day 1.
It's very stable and you don't see much complain about it and best part is no more missed notifications.
Pretty sure most have upgrade to 8.1 preview already and satisfied about it.

Battery life is not an issue for me it will last a day at work on LTE and even longer on Wifi.
The constant notification for a single whatsapp message when someone spam is no more..
Only one notification in a few minutes time.

since the day i got my lumia1020, i only stay 1 day with wp8...then directly upgrade to dev.prev.8.1 without regrets.....

My phone had a couple of random reboots. Might be because of some apps I've installed. However, lately behaving well without any major hiccups.

Random reboots are due to old WP7 apps.
I get it all the time back then on 920 before Portico update.
Not so sure if it is solved or not now.. But recommend not to use old WP7 apps if there is any.

Updating to WP8.1 but this error keeps popping up "the update couldn't be downloaded. (801882d2)" when it reaches 38-39%
