Hi, all masters.

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand. ASUS will be first consideration.
2. Budget: 3K-4K
3. Usage: Microsoft Office, Web Browsing, Movie(lightly), Music(lightly)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14''/15.6''
5. Criteria: built-in battery-type definitely would not be my choice.

BTW, I'm also considering K Series K551LB-XX184H. Any comment? maybe like the battery life, etc?

your usage isnt necessary for a laptop like the ASUS you mentioned. try these :

Lenovo
G500S, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT720M@RM1699, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS

MSI
CX61-2PC, i5-4200M + Nvidia 820M@RM2199, 4GB, 750GB, anti-glare, W8.1

Dell
Inspiron 15, i5-4200U + AMD HD8670M @RM1699[2.25kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 6-cell, Linux; W8.1SL@RM1899

prices in RRP and negotiable. use the remaining budget to upgrade RAM to 8GB, get SSD and extend warranty to 3 years is better than getting a laptop that exceeds your needs. just curious about ASUS that did they use removable battery for these :

ASUS
A550CC-XX530H, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT720M@RM2099[2kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; colors: black/red/white
A550LC-X0091H/XX179H/XX180H/XX181H, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT720M@RM2099[2.3kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; 4-cell; colors: grey/white/red/blue

Hi sifu,
I noticed that for this model below the battery is non removable:-

Asus
K451LB-WX071H, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199, 4GB, 750GB, W8

What happens if the battery spoilt and you need to replace the entire system? rclxub.gif

Most people don't bother replacing the battery unless if you really need it laugh.gif
In which's case you just need to open up the casing and replace it?

Unless if you always put your battery into the oven, or if you use your notebook inside an oven; batteries won't die so fast laugh.gif
Usually around the lifespan of 2-3 years, when that time comes you will feel like changing a new laptop already. That's why most people don't bother changing..
The battery in my M14x is dying as well, and I don't really think I would change it too, just use socket haha laugh.gif

If you really need it, buy battery and replace the kong one? I'm not sure how easy you will be able to find an Asus battery though hmm.gif Probably need a few hundred

There is a risk that batteries will die accidentally, or without our conscent. Only if TS not to worry about it, it is okay.

Or if you want a 'user replacable' non-removable battery, get macbook. Macbook's non removable battery involves removing back cover, unscrewing and detach battery plug, which is a simple job. laugh.gif

laugh.gif What do you mean "without our consent"? Doesn't feel right haha laugh.gif

I think most built-in batteries are not that hard to replace I suppose.. apart from those in thin ultrabooks or hybrids hmm.gif

You know, my 6930p battery died without my consent. The adapter was plugged in and battery meter showing my battery was fully charged. Just when i wanted to switch place a while and i turned off the adapter, the laptop insta powered off. When plugged in the adapter and startup, the battery meter shows 0% and not receiving charges, means its dead.
