1. Preferred Brand: any brand with after sale service/ service centre/ pickup in Ipoh/ Perak (guess Asus is out of question then)
2. Budget: RM2k-2.5k (other option is buy a cheaper laptop and upgrade the other components eg RAM)
3. Usage: minimal gaming, eg DOTA2; browsing, office, photoshop
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: any

reading all the replies previously, if really worth it, would not mind to stretch budget to RM3K
thank you to all the sifu's out there!

if warranty service is priority, you can go for Dell as they offers on-site warranty around Malaysia, save your hassle traveling to service centres while the technician can arrive in front of your door step and fix the laptop for you (after remote diagnosis). your options :

Dell
Inspiron 14R, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM1849 [2.32kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), Linux, 6 cell; W8@RM2049
Inspiron 15R, i5-4200U + AMD HD8670M @RM1999[2.32kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), Linux, 65WHr; W8SL@RM2199

however, you can get Lenovo as well, just that you need to pay more to get on-site service.

Lenovo
Z510, i5-4200M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2399[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 yrs, color: white

prices in RRP and negotiable.

MSI GS60 is better than razer blade.
1st issue after you bought razer is where would you want to send the laptop for warranty if broken?
2nd issue is availability. Where do you plan to get the laptop?

Hello, I have asked for a recommendation for laptop to be used during my win8 mobile app development training and these were the suggestion I've received:

QUOTE(Kivaa @ Mar 6 2014, 12:26 AM)
Acer
Aspire S3-951-2464G25, i5-2467M + Intel HD3000 + 256GB SSD@RM2699[1.35kg]

Dell
Inspiron 14R, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1366x768;touch)@RM2999[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL , 6 cell
May I know what do I have to look out for if I am to look for other models around my town? p/s: These model's design are not really my cup of tea.

my request

1. Preferred Brand : any
2. Budget : rm3K
3. Usage : need a laptop for my win8 smartphone app development training (programming i guess)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : >13', light weight and long battery hours if possible. I dont need good speakers or FHD since I'd be using my desktop for entertainment. Just need it for training purpose.
Thank you for your time.

Hi

1. Preferred Brand: ANY BRAND. Important is budget
2. Budget: Mum says below RM2500. Rm3000 maxxx.
3. Usage: Use at Work/School, and i play DOTA 2
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Usually i take small screen. But now i want a 15.6 inch with FHD. Touchscreen optional.

Oh ya, that time my cousin got advice here to buy DV6. But now dv6 no more in sale. is there an alternative one ? but with FHD??

Hi, all masters.

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand. ASUS will be first consideration.
2. Budget: 3K-4K
3. Usage: Microsoft Office, Web Browsing, Movie(lightly), Music(lightly)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14''/15.6''
5. Criteria: built-in battery-type definitely would not be my choice.

BTW, I'm also considering K Series K551LB-XX184H. Any comment? maybe like the battery life, etc?
