This is the guy to look for: https://www.facebook.com/pages/DellAlienwar...1751731?fref=ts
He doesn't have a shop though laugh.gif His house is his shop, and he's only selling Dell/ Alienware ya~

If you are staying around PJ/KL, he can help you fix/upgrade your notebook.. if you are staying elsewhere you can still contact Dell for warranty claims etc.

13" notebooks are generally more expensive unfortunately sad.gif
Can consider these:
14"
Dell
Inspiron 14-3437, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400@RM1399[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), 4-cell; W8SL@RM1549

Lenovo
G400s, Celeron 1005M + Intel HD @RM999[2.2kg], 2GB, 500GB, FreeDOS, Black/Red
G400s, i3-3110M + Nvidia GT720M@RM1449, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS
G400s, i3-3110M + Intel HD4000@RM1349, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS; W8@RM1499

HP
14-d006TU, i3-3110M + Intel HD4000@RM1349[1.95kg], 4B, 500GB(5400rpm), Ubuntu
14-d002TX, i3-3110M + Nvidia 820M@RM1449[1.95kg], 4B, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS

*Prices in RRP~
Depending on how adventurous you are, you can actually get one of the cheapest ones, then throw in an SSD, that way you will get a much faster computing experience (even more than the expensive ones laugh.gif)
*
hmm very limited choice i have . the HP is a good brand or not ? I have few friend that don't recommend buying it since after 1 yr warranty ended there must be something wrong with the laptop . screen problem , graphic card / mobo prob etc . how does Celeron 1005M perform ? i think that is the cheapest you recommended here .

Yea, your budget is pretty low unfortunately..
And all these are budget-line notebooks, so try not to expect too much from them, regardless of the brand..
If you are worried, then just get the Dell and extend warranty to 3 years onsite for peace of mind icon_rolleyes.gif

The Celeron will be able to handle normal tasks like web surfing and microsoft office without a problem.. anything more intensive and you'll experience lag hmm.gif

but the hp spec +nvidia 820m is tempting. I actually can afford it but not really interested with the brand .

Do consider this one instead icon_rolleyes.gif
14"
Dell
Inspiron 14 7000, i5-4200U + Intel HD4400 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2699[2.02kg], 6GB(soldered), W8.1, backlit keyboard, 58Whr, No ODD

* Price in RRP, use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years on-site
* 2.02kg, ~5-6 hours battery life normal usage; having a 32GB mSATA will help boost speed

Lenovo Ideapad Flex 14, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT720M +(1366x768; touch) + 8GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@RM2299, 4GB, W8, 2 yrs; colors: black/orange

* use remaining budget to upgrade to on-site warranty

If you don't mind an Apple, then this:
13"
Apple MacBookAir 13", i5-4250U + Intel HD5000 + 128GB SSD + (1440x900)@RM3299[1.35kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX

* Very light, fast and also offers the longest battery life among these lot
* Go for student discounts
*
Thanks. Might be going with MacBookAir 11" + Intel HD5000 + 128 SSD + (1366x768)@RM2,849 (education price) with spare for VGA dongle and still fall within budget.

Good for you man rclxm9.gif
Try to go for the warranty extension as well if possible, since slim notebooks will be very expensive to repair if anything happens nod.gif

Read this before you decide to buy an Asus: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2337458
Don't think there is an X550 D here, I think you got the model code wrong already laugh.gif

As for the MSI GE60-2OC, there are plenty of variants oh.. just wondering why you want to buy older models instead of new ones? hmm.gif Its not like they're much cheaper right?

But I'm not a big fan of W8 or those convertibles and touchscreen is unnecessary. ):

Assuming you are using these for normal, everyday tasks and some gaming:

If battery life is important to you, pick the 2nd. But you'll have to upgrade the RAM to at least 4GB RAM nod.gif

If you are low on budget, then just pick the 1st one, not much difference in terms of CPU performance  icon_rolleyes.gif
Pinned as 2nd post already haha, thanks man notworthy.gif
Good to know that you are doing your research haha~
FYI ya, there are new variants of MSI coming out, perhaps you can look at those with Nvidia GT840M
15.6"
MSI
GP60-2PE-026MY, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GT840M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) @RM3299[Dynaudio], 4GB, 1TB HDD, W8.1
GP60-2PEY, i7-4200H + Nvidia GT840M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) @RM2899[Dynaudio], 4GB, 750GB HDD, W8.1

But have to wait until the performance of this GPU to be reviewed, then only will we know if its better than the GT750M or not... currently these two are estimated to be on par with one another  icon_rolleyes.gif
