Bro, does it fit CM 690 III?

it should fit without problems, just watch your PCI lanes if you have other components plugged into your motherboard

Intel Xeon 1230 V3 TM799 (performance similar to an i7 yet price marginally cheaper)
Asrock B85M-HDS RM239 (If have extra budget, opt for B85M Pro4 or B85 Killer)
Kingston Value RAM 8Gb x2 RM458
Plextor M5S 128GB SSD RM279 (SSD will make the system run faster and smoother)
WD Blue 1TB RM179
Leadtek GTX750 TI RM599 (since your gaming is kind of light, 750TI is more than enough to handle them)
FSP Hexa 500W RM149
BitFenix Comrade RM139

SSD is a lot faster than HDD, but a lot pricier too.

You can't afford having a 1TB of SSD, but HDD can.

So if you want speed + storage, SSD + HDD is the way to go.

Yup.

But after the OS, your 120GB SSD remain like only 80+GB, so plan youself what programs you want it to load faster.

I've always liked the simplicity and minimalistic look of the 690 III. And it's also packed with lots of features and functions well. You go get it la then post some drillz here. brows.gif

Hey guys,

What should I get for my case below?
[Budget]
~5.5k

[Purpose]
Engineering analysis work and gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
I do not need storage HDD, monitor, keyboard, mouse and speaker. The rest will be from scratch

[Monitor resolution]
1920 x 1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Work software - CAD (UG NX 6.0), ANSYS workbench (FEA)
Gaming - Dota2, D3, Dark Souls 2, TitanFall, SC2, Dragon age

[Personal preferences]
SSD for operating systems, 240 GB or more.
Simple overclocking solution - I am not that familiar with overclock so if things can go simpler it would be better.
Considering one analysis run could take days, air cooling solutions to prevent overheating will be a good to have options  smile.gif

[Location]
Johor Bukit Indah - but i can get parts from amazon or travel to buy parts so location should be the least concern.

What i have in mind is >>

Intel Core i7 4770K
ASUS SABERTOOTH
G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3-1600MHz 16GB (2X8GB)
MSI GTX 780 Gaming
Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme 256GB
Seasonic X-760 760W PSU
(Not sure about casing & fan)

I myself am not very tech savvy and i come up with above specs by reading here and there in the web, so feel free to provide fresh opinion instead of modifying from my current choices.

Arigatoooo~  nod.gif

Here are my suggestions. smile.gif

Intel Core i7 4770K - RM1079
Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 - RM539
Corsair Value Ram 8GB DDR3 1600MHz x 2 - RM458
Gigabyte R9 290 Windforce OC - RM1649
Cooler Master V700 PSU - RM499
Intel 530 Series 240GB SSD – RM609
Cooler Master Storm Scout II Casing – RM309
Lite-On 24x DVDRW – RM59

Total – RM5201 (prices are from Viewnet)

Optional:
Cooler Master Nepton 140XL - RM349 (AIO)
Scythe Ashura - RM179 (air cooler)

The casing comes with 2 x 120mm (front) and 1 x 120mm (rear) fans by default already, you're free to add on 2 more on the top / 1 at bottom for optimal casing air flow.

Some good options:
Arctic Cooling F12, Bitfenix Spectre < ~RM30 each

Hi,

I have some question on your suggestions -

1) Why value ram? I thought performance RAM helps in overclocking and analysis program..
2) Why AMD GPU? I was told Nvidia GTX series works on rendering better than AMD..
3) also, can the proposed casing and MOBO house scythe Ashura?

Thanks for helping..

Actually, while I do agree that value RAM at slow CL11 speeds would be a slight hindrance, it makes no difference for normal computing or gaming. An SSD would bring so Much improvement overall system performance that unless you're running multiple programmes requiring lots of RAM, value RAM is worth it.

But if you feel that you need performance RAM, Kingston has 8 GB 1866Mhz CL9 RAM going for under RM400 if it fits your budget.

Also, the latest 200 series AMD cards like the 290 Windforce suggested has enough firepower to do rendering. Unless you got RM2300+ to spend on a GTX780Ti or RM3000+ on a GTX Titan/Titan Black, enable CUDA, and rip rendering to shreds. Other wise for your budget the 290 is best suited.

The Scythe Ashura can fit the Extreme4 motherboard. If you want a bigger case, I suggest the New NZXT Source 530. RM320 only.

So need a monitor within the budget mate?

With monitor

Proc - i3-4130 RM 349
Mobo - Asrock H81M-DGS RM 179
GPU - Gainward GTX 750 Golden Sample RM 540
HDD - 1TB WD Blue RM 189
RAM - 8GB Value RAM RM 289
SSD - Plextor M5S 128GB RM 289
PSU - FSP Hexa 500w RM 149
Casing - Bitfenix Comrade RM 149
Monitor - Dell S2240L IPS RM 489

The monitor isn't 23" but it is IPS biggrin.gif All costing RM 2,622. If want to cut cost get a cheaper LED non-IPS monitor. Cost roughly around RM 280-400+. Prices from Viewnet cept GPU from IdealTech and Casing from DotaTech.
