Heard Unisem paid quite well many year back. Very big and advance factory in Ipoh producing semiconductor. Now I am no sure, but they are making losses.

If Unisem, YTL, Hong Leong group are also Chinaman companies, then there is a lots of chinaman companies in Malaysia.

Can go to Bursa website to look for the listing.

Simple,
To let people know the background of a company before they join.
And Not to ask people not to join.
It's to let them have a prepared mentality of roughly what they would face in their coming job.
That is the purpose

Yeah, audit firms are well known to do so.
Working in big 4 even more so. Like one of me fren wink.gif
But when it comes with high salary, expected workload higher lo.
if the office environment okay, and got conpensation as in OT claim or sumthing similar, then is not really Chinaman la.
But , like u mentioned, it's always about the mentality.

"With Great Powers, Comes Great Responsibility
With Great Salary, Comes High Workload"

The term Chinaman company does sound a bit insulting though. Like you want to downgrade Chinese owned companies compared with western MNC, which means higher standard?

The problem here is not whether it is chinaman or not, actually it is SME or not SME.... In Malaysia, most SME's bosses are Chinese. Most of the SMEs in the world operate almost like "Chinaman" company here due to smaller scale capital and operation.

Next time if we (Chinese) set up a company in Malaysia for doing business, then it will be termed as "chinaman" company by whoever worked under us. biggrin.gif

Actually you're both right.
The term Chinaman company is very demeaning and a tad insulting.
And always, often, we always compare with western MNC in term of these criteria of comparisons.

that's why, we have to set a clear definition of 'chinaman' as defined in my first post. and MYTH sections that bunks every other things.

'chinaman' here is clearly a certain mentality.
Even japanese management company also have these mentality.
You havnt worked for Indiaman company yet. also another kind of mentality.

That's why, 'chinaman company' now is no longer a term exclusive just for chinese.
BUT, it's a term that actually describing a certain type of management or mentality that plague people in general, impartially

actually.... no... it's not just about chinaman company.
it's just that chinaman company is the most common around, that actually people feel the 'stingy' mentality.
Again, it's the mentlity/culture of management; not the race running the business.

I still think Chinaman company must be run by the Chinese. Otherwise, how can we called it "Chinaman"?

Indiaman company run by the Indian boss to certain extend same as chinaman company, but those are still India man company.

well, for my perspective this 'chinaman' doesnt necessarily must be chinese. well, as u said, indiaman also to a certain point also like chinaman.
it's becomes a cliche thing already.
like as in China people dont refer Malaysian Chinese as 马来西亚华人 (Malaysian Chinese) but refer Malaysian Chinese as 马来人 (Malays ) already. So, all ethnics no matter u what race, for outside people, we are just One race (One Nationality) iaitu = Malaysian (马来人) as how my Guangzhou said to his parents =.=

so, it is suitable, to be generally, to describe a mentality/culture impartially of race.
the term started is just because china-man are the one who behave this way first, like pioneer of the trend, thus started the label lo.
like u call people samseng.. doesnt matter chinaise, malay, or indian bad guys, all also call them as Samseng.

just for argument sake la.

I had gone to Mazda's Head Office (One of the Berjaya Group Subsidiary) for interview way back to 3 years ago.

They give 3 bonuses depending whether they achieve the sales target or not....+ a Mazda car for higher level Managerial Staff. brows.gif
