I am 23 yrs old male, i notice that some of my friends already facing the hair lose problem...and some are quite serious also i was wonder we are still so young.
i am quite worry about myself also since my father also bald from fore head any food can avoid this problem, any experience forumers mind to share here? |

MSG = monosodium glutamate, it's a food additive. Something like Ajinomoto.

funny... i have a friend who eat maggee mee everyday like 2-3 times a day and his hair is all still there, maybe its not so much the over intake of something but the lack of something else? maybe its genetic?

I have no sign of balding, but I do get a noticeable amount of hairdrop everyday especially during bath.
Any comments? Could it be just a normal thing? My hair too thick? |

I've seen a doctor before. He recommend a "proven" product.. but 3 weeks of supply already cost 200-300+... can see result after 6weeks, but must eat for at least 1 year. I'm thinking.. if every 3weeks 1 come out another 300+ for this.. more hair will drop to earn back my money |

u need prescription legally speaking. but no, just go to any pharmacy and ask for it. say your doctor prescribed it. it's same as propecia, only 5 times as much finasteride and it's not easy to cut it into 5, that's why u cut it into quarters.

Are Propecia and Proscar the same medicine? Can I split Proscar tablets?

OMG, do you know how expensive is the propecia? If i not mistaken, it sells in bar and 1 bar RM160~170 for 15 tablets (i forgot how many tablets inside). That was last time about 1 year ago i checked it out.

Hi, I have been doing research on this matter last time. Basically, hair loss is common to us in normal day if it does not exceed more than 50-100 hairs. Mens' baldness can be identified with the Males Hair Loss Pattern.
 There are several factors causing hairs drop. 1. Generic problem(Men only) High-level of DHT (DiHydro Testosterone), which induces hair follicles shrink and eventually fall out and increases estrogen level in the hair growth life cycle. It will cause permanent hair loss. 2. Temporary Hair Loss Pressure, illness, poor vitamin assimilation due to diet, taking radioactive medical treatment like Chemotherapy, improper haircare. 3. ermm.. i think my problem had gone.. yeah... the hair drop last time was quite a lot, but now very little about 8~12 eac shower. For me, it was because of smoking and diet problem. You have to know yourself well man...
The propecia is too expensive lar..... about RM300 per month you know? And it cannot stop eating, once stop, it will come back. |

What i mean by diet problem is means that certain thing you not suppose to eat that you put it inside your stomach and after long term of doing it, it caused this problem come out.
I know this is very wide and abstract. Because the diet is in deed big part of it. And everyone is not the same. There is always have the basic guideline to follow and avoid. The one i can say for now for me that caused hair drop ridiculously is the smoking, sleeping, diet and etc. If you smoke and you got hair drop about 30~40 per shower, you got to watch out. |

One last thing that i can recommend you guys or girls who want to cure their hair lost problem and yet dont want to have too much side effect about it. But i got to warn about it, it did some side effect on me which i dont like at all and other people might effect them differently.
Do you heard of "saw palmetto"? Do you know what is it? Do you know what it does? And do you know what is it got to do with your hormone and hair lost? This is the last thing i can only recommend to you guys and girls, hope it helps. GO GO GO!!! Go and read and do research about it, saw palmetto as the last resort you can try without worrying too much about the side effect and yet not too expensive. well, I just wanna share my problem about loosing hair
I had this problem b4 when a part of my hair is falling and I notice it but thought it was normal and just leave it there But when the time passess, i notice i part of the falling hair is really obvious and some of my friends notice it and asking me about that So i'm really worry about that since that time i was just 20yo. So my dad decided to bring me to the skin treatment center. So the doctor said that it might be some problem with my skin of that part. He said it might be cause of imbalance of hormone on that particular part. Then he gimme about 10 "shooting" injection on that area and it's really DAMN pain and it will make u dizzy all day. Then i go for 4 treatment (which is every month one treatment), thank God, it's really working and effective, my hair grow as normal already. But it's kindda expensive, depends on yr hair problem i guess, for me, i need to pay RM200-RM300 for each treatment. But worth it since it really works!  |

Well hair loss could also be genetic and have nothing to do with lifestyle.
Went to see a doctor today and got prescribe with Regaine. Didn't want to give finasteride yet and ask me to try the spray first. Hopefully in 4 to 6 months will show some positive signs. |

From personal experience, I don't recommend female to take Royal Jelly though it is very good to skin. Bcause when I take it, My body hair bcome thicker!! But, what I take is combination of Royal Jelly + Ginseng + Bee Pollen. All in one tablet. |

I'm 24 and I have been having major hair loss problems since I was 16, or was it 14? Trust me guys, for those of you who are not experiencing it, it's a real shitty feeling. Not many admit it, but the ones with major hair loss spend a lot of time in front of the mirror trying to cover it.
I tried a variety of solutions throughout my problematic days. Never tried those expensive treatments though 'coz well, it's expensive. One day when I was 21, I read an article in Reader's Digest which (how do I put it without sounding damn cheesy) erm, changed my life. It was written by this guy who had a real big hair loss issue. I felt like he got a peek into my life while he wrote it 'coz everything he wrote, I could relate to. Like how he would feel when he goes out or what he would do to cover up the bald spots. I bet all guys who are experiencing hair loss would be able to relate to it. Anyway, he went on and on about how shitty the whole hair loss issue is making his life and then one day, he just took a clipper and clipped his head clean. The next day he went to the office and everybody complimented on how good he looks. He said it changed his life. The moment I got back to campus after reading the article, I took my roommate's clipper, asked my neighbour to clip my head clean, used my shaver and shaved my head clean. Trust me guys, the moment I did that, everybody started saying how good I looked. It totally changed everything. I'm not ashamed to say this 'coz this might help a few people have a different perspective on their problems, but since I went bald by choice, I've had far more luck with the ladies, I've always felt good going out, I've had people complimenting me randomly which NEVER to SELDOM happened when I had hair and so much more goodies! I hope this helps in showing that being completely bald by choice isn't a bad thing, in fact it could be the best thing that ever happened to you. Just try it once for those of who are experiencing major hair loss, you'll never know how you feel till you actually do it. I got the Nizoral together with some other stuff, no idea how much it costs but should be more than RM50 for 100ml. Works way better than Selsun as its a prescription drug based. Works by killing the fungi that actually causes dandruff.

Here is what SJMC charges for the stuff that i'm taking: Minoxidil 5% (Regaine) - 221.65 Nizoral 100ml - 37.40 Tretinoin (Retacnyl) 30g - 31.65 The Retacnyl (similar to Retin A) is a cream which is applied once a day to increase to potency of minoxidil. |

There are suppose to be other generic brands which retails for around USD20 for a 3 months supply (from those US based online pharmacy) |

Haizz....since that day i start to drive my motorbike, i started to lost my hair...the helmet is the cause of it i think...keep having such dandraft...use H&S still no use larr..advertisement said 1 time use then can see the effect..i need use for month like that...but after my dandraft ok d the hair still keep falling...OMG...

only thing that works 'well' is propecia but got side effects.............it causes ED. alot of my friends quit because of that.
The minute you stop...you lose your hair again. If too much money to burn the hair transplant is the way to go. Busy with work so may not reply so soon. |

I think for most ppl with hair loss, it is important to determine the root cause of it. Could be due to stress or other medical issues. So taking medication meant for Male Pattern Baldness will not solve the hair loss problem. See a dermatologist first to confirm whats causing the hair loss.

Fried and oily food also. Not only you lose hair, you will often have pimples around your face.
Maggie, Laksa, Mee Sup all they add alot of ajinomoto ler. All they care is, customer 'gian' the taste of it, so they add alot of santan in it. Try not to eat any oily or fried stuff in a week, you will feel more energetic. |

Got any side effect? how serious is ur hair fall? Learn that minoxidil have side effect to your heart, so ppl with heart attack cannot use becos minoxidil will increase your blood to circulate faster and increase ur heart pump faster...so have to be careful...thats the only side effect I know... but I know alot of successful story of ppl using minoxidil... but it will only helps to regrow hair from good conditions root/folicles. Scalp that already shinny means the folicles is dead and close shop liao so watever product u use also no use...

i guess it was another thread regarding this hair lose too.. a forumer recommend to use johnson baby shampoo so i give it a try... it actually helps and my hair drops less after shower now..

There is an article yesterday (3/4/07) in the NST, life× section which explains very well the causes of male pattern baldness. I didn't know the same cause for hair loss can also cause prostate enlargement.

I'm just wondering how much is Propeica and Proscar? Currently using Rogaine but damn lazy to apply twice a day, most of the time is once a day only, too lazy. Hopefully this won't cause my hair to start falling again. |

Quite worrying now... my scalp tend to itchy, worse even if more than 1 day no wash hair/scalp. Hair and scalp also oily (moderately)... Now thinking back, this chronic condition has been with me for many years, just that the condition is now obvious and noticeable... that time I didn't care much of it...
One of the hair saloon offer threatment inclusive of 3 products, USA prodcuts (all herbal based) with total of 8 treatments, amounting to rm720. Weekly treatment is strongly recommended. Checked under their equipment, found to be oily, perhaps active gland. Previously use other shampoos made the condition worse and I still do not know about it until they recommend me one their product, able to cleanse the scalp well, condition is still under control. Should I go for it or see a dermatologist ? Went to see general doctor, she prescribed a small shampoo, Selsum. I wonder will that help on my scalp conditions ? Selsun is for dandruff. Is the cause for your hair loss due to excessive scratching? From what I see from the picture, hair loss seems to be very concentrated at particular areas, doesn't look to be like male pattern baldness.

fyi for those who want to see a reasonable price specialist. u can try go to university hospital. previously i went to UH to see a demartologist for checkup on my hair condition and it cost me about rm15 excluding first 2 session to see normal doc before get recommend to see specialist which cost about if not mistaken rm10.

Just bought Propecia or also known as finasteride by MSD. Price RM150.00 for 28 tablets. The best offer so far. According to the Pharmacist. the first 3 months of consuming those pills, your balding process will significantly decreased or stop and new hair will start growing and give it another 3 months or so to see visible results of full hair. Since my case is at early stage, it is best for me to start now rather later when it is too late. I've heard about the side effects. But the percentage are too low. So I thought, why just I give it a try? Will come here and report the progress in 3 months time. Hopefully to see some good results. By the way, I have few friends who is sharing the same problem as mine. Luckily I act fast. I started to use mild shampoo about 6 months ago (herb shampoo is the best). Wash my hair daily. Drink lot of water. Do some sports and control my diet (avoid oily food). The balding process start to slow down even though it never stop. Unlike my friend who reluctant to anything about it, is getting balder than ever and now he had to wearing cap the whole time to cover it. Hopefully, if this medicine works for me, I might suggest him to try. Anyone here taking Propecia? Mind to share? |

Ler. You guys now using all those supermarket shampoo like pantene, sunsilk, head and shoulders confirmed when your immune system has drop(when you are not a youth anymore), your hair also will drop like crazy! Why? because you got what you paid for..
cheap shampoo used cheap ingredients and as result have very strong chemical effect on your scalp. They spent all the money on commercial only. Some customer feedback also said that internantional brand like dove shampoo texture is actually different in here and overseas(of course the oversea one quality much better). I work in a salon and have encountered so many guys even as early as 22 years old start going bald. Theres maybe different reason for them but 1 thing i notice that got similarities is they all use those kind of shampoo! U guys should try out the Nioxin hair care set(cleanser+scalp therapy+scalp treatment and booster). The best brand for hair loss problem . I seen it available on many classy salon and some store selling hair products. Im also using it right now. My recent hair loss stop. Last time when i was studying in standard 6, front part of my hair started to losing like crazy. I grab that part and can see a bunch of hairs in my hand. After a while it stopped. But then that part of my hair still very less.

Watson and Guardian have them. Selling for RM150 - RM200 for 60ml. Try search in ebay.com.my, I bought 180ml for around rm200. Remember to buy "Nizoral 2%" shampoo. It will keep your scalp healthy (and dandruff free), can buy from pharmacy for around RM20 - RM30 for 60ml. Use only twice weekly. Nizoral + Minoxidil regimen should let u see result after 2 months. The brand I used is Kirkland (Note: Its the content which is important, not brand. There are others brand outside, but seem Kirkland is same factory as Rogaine. ) Nizoral can only be used twice weekly (if you feel itchy/dry, use once weekly for a month) While normal days, use mild shampoo. Conditioner is optional. I cant comment much on this regimen, as I only started for 1 month+. Also where can I buy Nioxin products? Depend on case to case, I believe.I am using System 1, apparently, it helps in controlling my oily scalp condition. Oily condition can block hair roots, preventing the hair to grow normally as for my case. As of now, there is an obvious hair regrowth, thicker. After wash with the Cleanser, you can see and feel your scalp is cleaner. Previously used System 5, it made my scalp condition even worse, dirty and oily. |

You bought the entire system? How much did it cost? WHERE DID YOU BUY IT FROM? I'm only thinking of using the cleanser (shampoo) and the scalp therapy (conditioner), the Scalp Treatment stuff is way too expensive.
question... for you guys who are losing hair, when you pinch you hair and pull semi-hard, does your hair fall out? mine usually doesn't so I dont think my hair is falling out. Just that it's thin and fine. btw what is the best shampoo/conditioner/gel/mousse to add volume and body and thicken the hair? doesnt necessarily need to regrow hair/stop hair falling. meh... tired looking for nizoral at guardian and watson's and neither had it. all they have are a bunch of cheap useless shampoos. so where to buy nizoral?
would you recommend nizoral to someone who has naturally thin, fine hair since birth, with little or no dandruff? because I'm that person, and I'm not sure if I'm actually losing hair. I dont see any hair dropping when I;m bathing tho. and 1% or 2% nizoral? |

I want to ask u guys for opinion... i wana start using this products for my hair loss... im tired of trying tonics and shampos which dont give any result.

Its rm 200 from 30 tablet... cut to 4 can get 120... will last 4 months... cheaper than buying propecia.... Poscar is 5mg.. so if i cut to 4 piece i get 1.25mg... i read in alot of website they recomend that... hmm im hoping my hair fall will stop.. really saddening laa...

Last time my fren also took it, he said hv this funny feeling like not stable.. but after few weeks it became ok it seems.. why dunt u try taking minoxidil and poscar... i read in a website they said it the best regime...

I tried to ask about propecia over the counter before. They are willing to sell without prescription. BUT i believe not all pharmacy will do so. Look for small pharmacy. Anyway, their minoxidil is over priced....

Rogaine is the most famous brand... But its very expensive. I would rather choose generic minoxidil.
