Any idea how muc is Propeicia in Malaysia. From the online websites a 180 day supply can cost USD 90. However sinc their patent expired this year, there should be generics available.

Thanks alot for the details. I read somewhere online that some people buy Proscar and split the pill it self to the recommended dosage to save cost. Is it available at the pharmacy without precription?

Well hair loss could also be genetic and have nothing to do with lifestyle.

Went to see a doctor today and got prescribe with Regaine. Didn't want to give finasteride yet and ask me to try the spray first. Hopefully in 4 to 6 months will show some positive signs.

i think it should be Rogaine? ur using the 5% wan rite? how much u bought it?
*
Rogaine is for US market, mine the package says Regaine, still 5% minoxindil. No idea the bottle costs how much but should be more than 100 (i took a whole lot of other stuff from the pharmacy and there was no itemized bill.)

i see... my doc recommended me Rogaine 5% but i still thinking whether wanna buy or not... so how was urs? any result?
*
Not so fast got result, should be around 4 months then there will be some growth. Suppose to be better than taking finasteride. One thing its damn troublesome. Application is twice a day and the scalp must be dry.

Well the solution has no feel or smell. I normally let it dry naturally for like 30 mins before applying.

The problem with hair loss is the mega huge myths surrounding it that has been around for ages. Best example is the msg in Maggi mee theory. Really dunno what to say anymore.

If it's male pattern baldness caused by DHT then only minoxindil or finasteride will work. Doubt that jap shampoo will.

You should try this shampoo called Nizoral. Damn power. Even after 1 wash can see the difference already.

I got the Nizoral together with some other stuff, no idea how much it costs but should be more than RM50 for 100ml. Works way better than Selsun as its a prescription drug based. Works by killing the fungi that actually causes dandruff.

Wow, thats bad. No wonder my doctor doesnt want me to try it.
Here is what SJMC charges for the stuff that i'm taking:
Minoxidil 5% (Regaine) - 221.65
Nizoral 100ml - 37.40
Tretinoin (Retacnyl) 30g - 31.65

The Retacnyl (similar to Retin A) is a cream which is applied once a day to increase to potency of minoxidil.

doc selling me 120 only..

Yours is it Rogaine or Regaine. From what I check online, Rogaine is meant for US market and it sells way cheaper from what i'm getting from SJMC. Mind telling me where I can get it? There are suppose to be other generic brands which retails for around USD20 for a 3 months supply (from those US based online pharmacy)

oic... wat i was saying one is Rogaine... spray wan...

Yup same as mine, its a spray bottle for 60 ml and comes with 3 applicators. Just that mine is called Regaine and Rogaine seems to be alot cheaper.

Raikkonen,

Nizoral is for dandruff won't help for MPB.

I think for most ppl with hair loss, it is important to determine the root cause of it. Could be due to stress or other medical issues. So taking medication meant for Male Pattern Baldness will not solve the hair loss problem. See a dermatologist first to confirm whats causing the hair loss.
