Dear Sifus out there ,

Car : Honda City Vtec 03-04 , with 7 Speed Manual

Problem : A very light blinking "D" light , after changing gasket due to overheating problem .

The current situation is not those blinking obviously type of light , this light is as though not enough power . Can see breaking up D light .

And when I ON the manual transmission aka 7 Speed mode , the Number display cant seems to last long ,it will display the number there for a moment , then probably dissapear after that , you guys have any idea why ?

Read over the internet , many people said its due to transmission problem , went to SC and they diagnose with Speed Sensor error and reset the ECU . The problem came back . I believe my speed sensor have spoiled .

Probably I should just change the whole speed sensor parts ? Any idea how much would that cost etc ?

Thank you icon_question.gif

If I want a stabil drive. ...what should I add to the car?

Try getting the under carriage done with chassis foaming , don't have to do the whole car first, get ths bottom done n be impress;)

other alternative would be the usual UR bars

Been using my city for 2 years now, mainly used in KL only with infrequent travel on highways. When would u guys recommend i get my tires changed? From what i see the tire threads still good.

And how can i change my spark plug FOC? Experiencing similar problems like some of u guys ie have to start engine 2-3 times especially after driving then switching off engine for short while.

It has nothing to do with the spark plugs.. The problem lie with the starter motor. If you can't get the motor replaced, try to replace your battery with higher CCA (cold crank amphere). It will help start your car easier.

Hi sifus, need some advice on City 09-13 version:

1. What modification should I do to increase the acceleration/pick up or when going uphills? I had been noticing that my City's power has been decreasing.

1b. Speaking of the same, any other modification/add ons that I can consider to add to my City for a better/comfortable/stable ride?

2. My City has been 4 years now - thinking to change the original fabric seat to leather seat. Do you have any recommendation of shop to do this? Which kind of leather will be good? Napa? And what color matches the Metallic Grey City?

3. Need to do some sound proofing for a more comfortable ride - any recommendation of shop too? Is there anything that I need to be aware of sound proofing?

Would be best if there's a single shop that provides all the above, but I know it will unlikely. So will appreciate your comments/suggestions and I will research further from there. Thanks Sifu!

What is the mileage of your caR? If it is approaching 100,000km, you should replace your iridium plugs. In addition, check whether your air filter is dirty or not. Lastly, get the Honda high performance engine cleaner & pour it into your gas tank. It may help restore some lost power.

Your ride becomes harsher because your shocks absorber have gotten softer after years of usage. You may consider replacing them to restore the original ride comfort & handling of your car.

Don't bother spending too much on leather seat wrap. The current seats cover are good in my opinion. Maybe you can try to do sound insulation on all 4 wheel arches.. I found that these areas are the noisiest & some sound insulation treatment can improve the cabin noise.

Hi Thrust, thanks for the responses. My mileage is around 65-70K KM. On regards to the air filter, I will get it checked in my next service but I would have assumed Honda SC checked all those. Are there many types of the Honda high performance engine cleaner? If there's only one type, perhaps I will do it in my next service. However, I think generally City is slower on the acceleration. Lately I had moved to an area that has many small hills and this is why I can feel the "lost of power". Hence I am thinking to do some mod on City itself.

How much do you reckon changing the shock absorber will be? Are there any variants that I should be aware of? Sorry for being noob here, but I just want to be sure. Thanks again for your responses.

City acceleration is abit slow from first to second, same issue with mine. If you want to improve better pick up, u can try either Bardhal Injector cleaner after every 5k service to clear carbon deposit and improve accelaration.

Besides you can change to after market air filter like K&N or Simolta drop in filter for bette response. In term of pick up and accelaration u may consider Throttle Controller, i tested my friends car really smooth and good pickup. Im considering myself. Hehe

As for absorber, if u are ok with the stock absorber feel and comfort, then u can search for Original Honda City absorber, if u want some stiffer ride u may consider IMP abs as what is being recommended by some sifu here.

But I don't like the display to be put on the dashboard - I am kinda "uncle" minded. Prefer everything to be like in stock. How le?

Please bear in mind that throttle controller or potent booster or whatever they call it is just a piggyback computer to trick your ECU to supply more or less fuel with the same degree of throttle. Your engine is not producing more horsepower.

For me, i will just step more on the pedal and save rm700 than to install this so called potent booster. For that amount of money.. I think its better to install a good mandrel bent exhaust manifold which helps in improving the HP and torque or your engine.
