All new bikes needs to break in period and tuning to be done. No bikes ever rolled out from LBS in perfect shape.

A big thanks to etigge for offering to replaced rear derailleur with a SRAM x4 he had lying around, and he even gave me a grip shifter (from a link p9 I think) to go with it. Now the bike's shifting is really smooth and rides like a dream smile.gif

Yeah terryble, Albert is a lawyer by profession actually but he hangs around the shop a lot and yeah he is really diligent is explaining and promoting (aka poisoning lol)

What?? Albert is not even a staff there?
he has been showing me around for more than an hour and diligently explain every details of each bike to me and my friend came across...and let us test all the brommies they have...

By the way...i have successfully completed my first ride at Taman Pertanian, a really great ride with the D8 i must say~~

But i do notices a few problem..not sure if it is common with new bikes~~hope the experts here can help explain a bit..

1) when lightly pulling the front breaks...there are some sharp metallic friction sound coming from the front...(none for the back...tested multiple times), this sounds goes away when i pull the breaks hard....

2) the gear shifting are great and smooth~~even newbie like me has no problem with it.....BUT....i notice upon shifting to gear 5, 6 ,7 (no chance to try 8th gear yet) the chain (or something from below)  produce a squeaky sound at one point...like every cycle it squeaks once...none of the sound appear on lower gears...

3) i am not sure if this is linked to problem no.2...when pushing the bike slowly consistently...there is also a squeaky sound coming from the front...

Hope you guys could feedback...probably sending it back to Van's for a service/tuning tomorrow evening..

Well send mine for fixing earlier this evening..
got my bike tuned and get the breaks fixed...

minor mis-alignment noted for the rear and they have reset the break pads...

and they also noticed the front wheel has some oil that resulted in the friction sound~~

overall after the adjustment, the bike feels much smoother~~ thumbup.gif

thinking of getting a folding bike to commute to my workplace daily (~500m).and possibly for on-off riding to gym, swimming pool, etc etc around 1-2km.

i live on 6th floor...so mtb or single gear bike is out of consideration.

btw 20'' is weird to ride or not?i need to ride fast (busy roads) and there are some bukits.

how about 26'' folding bike?do you guys recommend..i saw some people sell 26'' foldie around 800.

exactly like how I was thinking before buying folding bike.

guess what, I decided to buy 20" folding bike and ride it like a boss without worry, turn out people looked and said it was rather attractive rather than weird tongue.gif

Now I even thinking of getting myself 16", so it is going to be much easier when im going to travel by bus or anything biggrin.gif
