haaa.. finally i got posting access to this forum.. it's a validation issue ... no wonder i cant post anything earlier..
just got my ride last week from Rodalink Hartamas
Dahon Vigor P9 for myself and Tern Link D8 for my wife
the bikes run awesome !!..
By the way, i am just curios with the tires i am running on.. on Dahon website.. it stated that vigor p9 is schwalbe marathon supreme but the bike is on Rotolo rubber... when i called back with Sri Hartamas Branch they said that every country have different spec of tire so in order to lower down the price of Dahon here in Malaysia the tire was downgrade to Rotolo instead Marathon.. is it true? or can it be accidentally swapped?
sharing you some shots of the ride
looking forward to join group ride if any especially shah alam area or Bukit Jelutong.. thank you

Rodalink is correct. In Malaysia they swapped the Marathons for the Rotolos, to cut the selling price a bit. OK larr! for a Vector frame. It's the top level frame from Dahon at a cheaper price. In fact you should have got 2 Vigors instead of another choice. Anyway, enjoy riding as I am.
PS/ Take note though. Marathon Plus comes in 2 forms, one is the wire ribbed for OEM which are heavier and the ones sold separately are those folded ones which are much lighter and better.
that's very informative indeed ..thanks etigge ... i thought every models are standard in every countries.. .. every now and then i am in love with this bike ... thought a bit too old to ride it but the first time i paddled the bike made me recalled my childhood time ..
yup etigge ... i was hunting for tern link D8 actually and all of sudden i saw this p9 at their showroom.. love at the first sight.. so i poison my wife kaw2 for the D8 which she was thinking something cheaper (dahon basic range single speed .. forgot the model) ..she felt that it was a waste to buy such expensive bike until she ride it .. and now she cant stop laughing with the fun of having the bike at the first place..
if it's dahon single speed.. than it will be dahon mu uno.. it's a coaster brake bike.. I have 1.. very fun to ride.. the riding experience is totally difference as you need to back paddle to stop the bike.. you will learn to skid brake.. only 1 thing though.. I am too used to back paddle now.. I crash my MTB during my sunday ride..
back paddle to stop the bike? was that going to spoil your cassette? ..
btw, any broken parts on your mtb? hopefully everything is intact (i guess i dont need to ask your condition first ...
my normal route's also hilly.. one part is steep downhill next to the hockey stadium off jln duta.. the stock brakes on my Boardwalk seems ok so far... though even with one hand gently squeezing the rear brake i was still going in excess of 40km/h according to strava!.. may not be accurate as i dont have a cyclometer installed yet
talking on cyclometer/speedo reading ..which one do you recommend most? i would prefer speed and distance monitoring..those calories burning, cadence and time attack not necessary.. saw this wireless sunding brand in lelong.. (sounds like serunding daging ) price quite cheap but not sure if it works on foldie since the handlebar quite far from the fork.. i saw few comments there it does not work on foldie .. leaving cateye brand to aim.. well.. price quite steep but if it's reliable why not coz i need to monitor my cycle distance
for dahon vigor p9 .. what is the basic upgrade most likely the best for the bike? the bike is good for now but feel something is missing? can it be the speed? or cosmetic?

yeah thats why i asked .. if it costs too much i might just save up and get a higher spec'd bike in the future.. but then an 18 speed dahon/tern costs at least RM2K+... but then again, i'm aware it wont cost as little as RM200 to upgrade
i dont think u can get 18 speed dahon/tern for that kinda price ...
There's a black Dahon Visc P18 in Kimbell Jaya. Difference though when you upgrade a Vigor is you will get the better Dalloy Vector frame but off course the price is about 1K higher than a Visc P18 after modding. When I had the Vigor (mine traded off already with a Dahon Dash P18), I followed the Vector P20 specs. I change the drive train to SRAM X5 just like the Vector P20 use. Effectively it becomes the Vector P20 which cost slightly over RM4000 locally.
Mine was, RM2000 for the bike, another RM800 for the SRAM X5 cassette, chain, X5 RD, X5 shifters and SRAM Apex FD. Add in another RM160 for the FD adapter and RD hanger. Total cost less than RM3000 plus also the old 9 speed components can be sold to offset a few hundred Ringgit. So, roughly about RM2600 for the Dahon Vector P20.
Gosh, that's really an economical soup up. You were saying that for roughly 1k you will get that setup? And the bike evenly match vector p20 gearing?
Do you sell and install parts as well? Or any friend's shop you recommend most?
I can get the SRAM parts at the price mentioned. Yes, after modding it, it's the same specs as the Vector P20. 2 X 10 speed. If you go to V2, there's a picture of the Vigor modified there. When I traded the Vigor for the Dash, the whole groupset is taken out and it is now on the Dash (which is really not my choice as I wanted Shimano 105). If you are interested, I can transfer all the SRAM X5 to your bike, off course it will be cheaper larr. since it is used but mileage is still very low or at the price mentioned, get a new set. I can arranged it from a friend's bike shop. PM me if interested.
i would take your advice dont worry seems you know every single things about bicycle.. but for now i would stick to standard components and planning to upgrade later after myself experience long ride and how the bike speed perform against my cadence.. your offer will be keep in view but rest assured i will keep in touch with you when i am ready for the next upgrade..
