QUOTE(haroldz123 @ Apr 27 2014, 01:04 PM) rhine birdy (birdy clone) is only rm3.3k Ah thanks for your recommendations! Ya oyama seems like a pretty decent affordable bike, will consider.http://www.bicyclebuysell.com/#!page=1...cipline%5B%5D=4 plenty in mudah.com : http://www.mudah.my/Malaysia/folding+bike-...ing%20bike&th=1 a branded used folding bike is good too because it oredi break in (tuned, saddle oredi break in), usually in mint condition as users (mostly uncle or young adult) only ride in taman or short journey. sold off probably because the owner upgrade their bike. i saw oyama bike in the link. Dr. Yan the owner, inventor of downtube folding bike said oyama stole some of his ideas when they are planning to do join venture deal to manufacture the bike in asia. downtube is another alternative to suspension folding bike (birdy, jango, brompton) anyone using strava app for recording cycling or running adventure? |

Hello sifus! Got a noob question here. For the past few months my neos derailleur on my tern link d8 has been giving me problems with shifting and a noisy drivetrain. Brought it to Johnny MBS to have a look and he changed my cable housing but he said I should consider changing the RD as it's kinda work out or lost tension or something. Then brought it to pedal spot ss2 as well and they said my chain is loose and replaced the chain as well. It's slightly better now but the drivetrain I still not as responsive as it used to be and while pedaling on certain gears I get a 'tsk tsk' sound. The guy from pedal spot also commented that the RD is not working well either.
I bought the bike in sept last year so it's less than a year. It is possible to send the bike back for warranty to have the RD replaced or will they not cover this kind of wear and tear for warranty? Bought the bike from Vans Urban PJ. Thanks in advance! This post has been edited by valkyrie1232: May 16 2014, 12:34 PM |

Ya RD is the rear derailleur that helps your bike shift gears. It's located at the rear wheel. Terryble, the tern link d8 is actually a very nice bike. I like it's solid and stiff frame, plus it looks pretty darn good hehe. I highly recommend it especially as a beginner bike, you won't need to upgrade for a long time.
Zeliustitan : ya maybe I should just talk to YC and see how it goes. Probably go next Monday or something |

QUOTE(terryble @ May 16 2014, 02:25 PM) Thanks dude~~i am indeed a beginner and actually planning to get the D8 this 2 days~~ Hey just out if curiosity how much YC quote you for the tern d8. I heard this year the price is rm2080. Is he giving any freebies? Like helmet, bottle cage, lights etcI met YC last weekend and was thinking for a C7 until he mentioned the bang for bucks Tern~~ that is where i hesitated a while and go home to do further research~~ By the way....any hidden cost after buying from Van's? i saw some buyer were charge with assembly and lubrications~~ Lastly, may i know if a hand/leg pump necessary? or should i just pump at petrol station? (Kpi is 50 to 60?) Ya the tern d8 is way more bang for your buck than the c7. First of all, you get the Physis handlepost and the N-fold, which isn't available in the c7. You get a nicer looking SRAM grip shifter as well and the looks overall are just better haha. Not to mention Schwalbe citizen tyres. It's pretty much the cheapest of the tern range with better stuff |

Ah I see.. It's the exact same deal my friend got when he bought his D8. They will probably give you some INFINI lights, silverline helmet and some saddle bag. Bear in mind it's kinda cheap stuff actually. If you're not particular about accessories then just go for it.
If you rather hand pick your own accessories then try to ask for a discount and tell him you don't want any of the freebies (you will end up spending more though lol!) |

The helmet is ok for normal use. A helmet is still a helmet so it doesn't really matter as long as the clips are good and it feels comfortable.
Ya I think everyone wears helmets every time they cycle. I know I do! When I bought the bike last year they gave a nutcase helmet which i really like cause of the comfortable straps and the magnetic buckle. It's a bit hot though due to lack of air holes (sounded wrong lol) This post has been edited by valkyrie1232: May 16 2014, 06:06 PM |

Just got back a ride. The drivetrain seems a lot smoother and there isn't much clicking anymore. I think the drivetrain has sort of 'broken in' wit the new chain!

Ah black and blue.. The flagship colour I guess for d8 (usually shown in websites).
Albert is a nice guy and he's real friendly. He doesn't even work there, he's just a friend of the shop who helps out around a lot. Have no experience with locking a foldie so can't help you there sorry. But I think what people do is that they fold the bike and lock both wheels together. |

A big thanks to etigge for offering to replaced rear derailleur with a SRAM x4 he had lying around, and he even gave me a grip shifter (from a link p9 I think) to go with it. Now the bike's shifting is really smooth and rides like a dream
Yeah terryble, Albert is a lawyer by profession actually but he hangs around the shop a lot and yeah he is really diligent is explaining and promoting (aka poisoning lol) |
