Just received both cards yesterday. Applied at Gardens Centre with documents and approved after 2 days. Overall a smooth and fast process considering its a new application.

Hope they extend the Starwood privileges as I regularly dine there too.

New cards for a new year  biggrin.gif

Wow, you dine there even before having privileges? Which restaurants do you recommend? TQ

Just got my card approved after going through the process of pledging 20k fd.. Short version, it was a nightmare. It was a hassle as the maybank branch didn't want to help me process. Mid valley card center told me should receive the card over the weekend. Maybank got promo now for 12 mth fd with 4% interest. best part, they pay the profit upfront. So that goes into another FD to earn interest on FD. smile.gif

Btw, saw that Starwood privillege is until 31 dec.. gosh.. i hope they renew this as this is one reason why i went for the card.. Wife & I used to hit Favola & Eest for their food..

I read that some of u guys get bonus TP. Is it from activating the card? I applied and got a supplimentary card for my wife. How much points total can get arr? The supplimentary card TP is together with main acc?

They allow you to pledge your FD on the 4% promo

Very good if you want the airmiles and maybe dining benefit.

80k per annum spending might be a little tough though for annual fee waiver.

Just sent my application this morning through email. Wonder if JB card centre will be as fast as those in OneU or The gardens... If yes, i will try to go there next week for faster response. rclxms.gif

I guess it'll be almost the same speed since its a card center and also provided you submit adequate documents. Good luck smile.gif

I mostly dine in PRIME and Favola, both located at Le Meridien. If you're into steaks, you cannot go wrong with PRIME. As for Favola, they serve decent Italian smile.gif

Ok good. Tried PRIME but have not tried Favola. Will give it a shot soon! thumbup.gif Take note that the lounges like the Gastro Sentral in Le Meridien and the Toastina and Pavilions in Sheraton not entitled to 50%. All other restaurants are included except ALL breakfast and some champagne brunches in westin. Well, this is what I gathered by going thru the list again.

I have to say that this Premier card by Maybank is freaking awesome. On top of Starwood group of hotels, still got Shangri-La. But have to spend 80k per annum to qualify for annual fee waiver.

Hmm.. never thought of eating at hotels as I always thought you do not get your money's worth.
Just took a closer look at the discounts - 1 person 25%; 2 people 50%; 3 people 33%....... and so on. I presume the discount is over the cost of the entire meal for everyone? If so, doesn't that work out that it makes most sense to only go when there are only two people dining as you get the biggest discount then?

Ya, basically, to get the best bang for your buck, you have to go with another person only i.e. 2 of you. Very suitable for couples dating. 50% is as good as it gets. I mean, you get to taste all the 5 star hotel food at 2.5 star price, cannot complain! thumbup.gif

I did it the other way, i went to the bank and say i want to open a FD account. Don't tell them you are doing it to get the credit card. Once open di, only reveal that you are pledging it for the card.

Come to think of it, maybe that's why they were very reluctant to process my application and had to go through abit of hassle. biggrin.gif. But at the end of it, it's customer's rights. 4% for RM 25k and they pay the interest upfront to another account.

Std RM 30k. I was using their Platinum card before this with RM 10k limit. The Premier 2Card has a minimum limit of RM 30k. So it's RM 30k - RM 10k = RM 20k FD pledge.

I believe if using FD pledge, they'll waive the annual fees. My mom has a VI card due to her high FD account and they don't charge the annual fees for the card even through she only use about RM 1-2k a month (which adds up to RM 24k a year).

Worst case is, use the FD interest to offset lo. The 2nd year FD interest is 3.5% (follow board rate) which is about RM 875 and its paid upfront. If they charge me, i don't mind using that to offset as the benefits of the card is worth it. (Starwood Privillege Card membership is RM 750 a year though they give vouchers to offset & the airmiles exchange is very worth it).

That is a very eye opening for me.
If this is true, I can use a few of my MDD FD to pledge for MBB2 premier then.

Will update in a few weeks time, will see what is the outcome after I visit a nearby branch.

Guys, I don't quite understand why you would pledge FD to get this card. What's the pro and con?

Assuming that you meet the minimum annual income required, why pledge FD?

I don't meet the minimum annual income, but my spending per month amounts to the minimum spend for waiver due to company expenses which i claim every month end.

Lots of pros if you can meet the minimum spend to qualify for annual fee waiver.

As for FD pledge, that portion was already earmarked for savings anyway, my as well use it to kill 2 birds with one stone. I get 4% interest upfront anyway.
