Earlier someone mentioned it's possible. Worst case scenario, cancel platinum and points will have to go to Premier cards.
If you check maybank2u, under Rewards is your total points (including Premier, platinum, supplementary)  I assume it's combined and can be used for any purpose.
Kindly enlighten if gen-x or other sifu have any experience with their vi/wmc + MBB 2 cards .

Yes, i was told this is possible by a maybank counter staff. The trick is you must cancel all your other maybankard, and have only the VISA infinite or the new maybank amex premier. That way the only way to conserve your treatpoints will be to xfer it to your existing card. The staff said " I am not suggesting you to do it like this, but it has been successfully done before". I myself have never tried it because I still want to retain my maybank 2 card as the amex gives 5% rebate. The idea did cross my mind to cancel my mbb2card, move my 200k treatpoints to the VISA infinite, redeem all treatpoints to enrich miles at 4.5k treatpoints per 1k miles. Then immediately apply back MBB2card for the 5% rebate. The same counter staff told me once i cancel the mbb2card, i cannot apply back that same card for 6 months. Have to wait 6 months before i can apply the card again. And thus i opt to keep my mbb2card.

Hmm

Need to calculate I guess if it's worth it for moving the TP across, but seems like a hassle to cancel the cards then re-apply again (especially as I used FD to apply for MBB2 also)

About a week, but the staff told me if I had directly went to a maybank card center it would have been faster.

On a side note, has anyone been having problems making online purchases using the AMEX?

yeah, i did my application at a branch... then went to that card center.

first time using amex too. before this 5x TP deal never found a need to use an amex card. I knew the CVV is in front, but I've no idea whether the card was charged or not, no OTP, m2u doesn't show any transaction... rclxub.gif

Maybe Maybank have the wrong 4 digit security code in their system, hence transactions not approved? This happened to me, the code printer on my card was different than on their system rclxub.gif

I actually tried 2 transactions with ASOS recently, both times I received SMS that payment went through - but they requested for extra documents (passport scan etc,) so I gave up laugh.gif

after a lot of back and forth with different maybank CSRs and some online merchants today, this woman from MB finally told me AMEX blocks a lot of transactions from merchants by default due to fraud, even paypal rclxub.gif

so apparently the process is to call in AFTER the transaction fails, request for them to NOT decline paypal (or any other merchants), stipulate a time frame (max one month). For longer time periods like "as long as the card is valid", they require you to email in with a LIST of the merchants you won't want blocked.

Wahlao.

This is for the AMEX only btw, I haven't encountered any declines with the VI.

Btw, I requested the SMS alerts threshold to be changed to RM1, she told me it will take 3 days rclxub.gif is this true?

Odd - I didn't have this issue with my Amex. Not sure about SMS alerts as I haven't changed mine!

I actually just did an online transaction for over RM8K online via AMEX - no SMS code required and went straight through whistling.gif

Maybe where I used it was considered low risk? If I try PayPal or others I often get phone calls to confirm the transaction.

But sometimes Maybank seems slow - they called me 2 weeks after I took the card to ask me if I've already collected them and if I'd used them for any transactions (there were plenty by then!)

Then again, in the case of fraud we're not personally liable (unless through carelessness etc.)

the AMEX is more suited for Local use, as Foreign Currency Conversion for AMEX is much higher than the VI
VI is for overseas use.
that way, all transactions would get 5x TP

do you know if online transaction considered oversea use? like amazon / any charges in other currencies.

as long as its charged in foreign currency, you will be charged admin charges and unfavoring exchange rates
