Why do they call it "Maybank 2" ??

5 x TP on Amex local spend , with same redemption ratio as VI : 4500 TP for 1000 Enrich (7000 for other cards, apart from WMC)

So best combo for Enrich redemption is Amex for local, Visa for foreign 5x TP

I guess it makes sense for the waiver to be a bit higher as there's a second card involved (transactions I'd normally put on the standard MBB2 Amex)

Also slightly unrelated to this card - it looks like Maybank has reduced eligibility to 180K from 240K for WMC (I'm sure it was 240K last time I checked)

Apparently you get the Amex and VI together. Although the website doesn't make that clear - it just mentions "both cards"

MBB has renamed all the 'Maybankard' to 'Maybank' on its cards...

Named it as 'Maybank 2', as it comes with 2 cards in one application...

What card are the 45000 TP under?

Only using your VI / this new premier card points can redeem 1000 Enrich @ 4500

eg. if I have 70,000 points on my current MBB2 Amex but also hold, I can only redeem 10K Enrich for those - not at the VI ratio.

Amex tends to get us higher loyalty points, but most merchants out there either reject to take it or extra 2/3% charge on txn.

-ZERO admin charge on foreign txn
-Lower airmile conversion
-Hotel co-branded card for free nights
-Frequent promo on travel products

Just called Maybank AMEX customer service, they told me this cards will launch second week of March 2014. I will convert my existing VI and Maybank 3 platinum cards into this Maybank 2 Premier.

does that enough to cover up the freebies they hand to customer and make a handsome profit?
