QUOTE(roxx @ Dec 17 2015, 04:10 PM) Guys, need help.. At that price range, perhaps post a couple of boxes you are already interested in.. Easier to give recommendations.. Most boxes can handle items 1, 3 and 4. Watching Asxxx really depends on source, find the source, then yes. A decent quad core equipped box should be okay. Finally, there's a difference between 1GB & 2GB RAM, cuz most apps like KODI prefer caching to RAM storage which allows for a smoother playback. With 2GB RAM, one has more workspace for apps to run & can increase buffering cache size. Ultimately, decent hardware with poor software & support will result in poorer performance.Want to buy android tv to watch astrxx.. So which best for me? Thanks for your prompt reply..Currently am looking at: 1. Minix Neo 8-H Plus (Budget lari ady so I think I'll pass) 2. Xiaomi 3rd Version 3. M8S - Specs similar to Minix Neo 8-H Plus I think 4. Himedia M8S with 2gb ram but not sure it's 812.ac built in or not.. Haishhh.. Edit: Further checking, M8S / M8S+ is only 802.11b.g.n This post has been edited by roxx: Dec 17 2015, 07:20 PM |

QUOTE(roxx @ Dec 17 2015, 06:54 PM) Thanks for your prompt reply.. Yup the X8-H Plus is out of budget.. IMO, between the M8S+ & the Xiaomi box, better go with the Xiaomi brand cuz there's better support for it despite packing only 1GB RAM & 4GB eMMC ROM. The M8S+ specs-wise is sufficient as long as after sales support isn't at the top of your list. Also I think the the M8S+ has an 8GB NAND storage.. eMMC > NAND.Currently am looking at: 1. I thought smaller rom will impact on the storage as a lot of files we need to download.. Correct me if I'm wrong.. This is my 1st time want to buy android tv.. |

True.... Optimum recommendation is at least a Quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM, if within your budget. Actually should, cuz its probably a difference of about RM200 (+/- some RM depending on box). Highly recommended to stretch one's budget to avoid future headaches. Some people don't mind having lesser specs. Up to your requirements + technical know-how. |

Hmmmmmmm the problem will be astro-on-the-go, hypptv everywhere, and some local iptv. becos they can't catchup with the newer hardware and android versions. took a look at the specs of this U1. quad 2gb/16gb lollipop 5.1.1; 4k uhd - good. @voncrane - do you know why minix simply will not have hd audio pass thru? i want to try a minix at next chance but this "no hd audio" puts me off - i have lots of hd audio stuff to play with my home theater. |

QUOTE(roxx @ Dec 18 2015, 07:45 PM) Thanks bro.. Exactly, Need to actually wait awhile more for more true user reviews online (there are a few up now), that way, one can make a better decision. Else, best to get the already tested & proven Neo X8-H Plus. More so, if you don't require the WIFI, 4K, 10bit color (vs 8bit max on the X8-H Plus) or HDMI 2.0 upgrade. I'm not so keen on the Minix U1.... Don't get me wrong, its a decent hardware upgrade from the X8-H Plus. However, it appears the guys at Minix screwed up regards to HD audio decoding formats and pass-through features. Information isn't entirely clear at the moment on its exact HD audio capabilities. Hinting that the "U2" might fix such.Waiting for PC fair this coming 24th Dec.. Mana tau got tv box that I want.. Currently eye-ing on Minix U1 64bit.. For now, this is as much as I know. It supports 7.1 and 5.1 surround sound, DD+/DTS/Dolby TrueHD pass-through via HDMI.... Possibly not for DTSHD-MA. I'm still following the development. Its quite possible that most of these will be rectified or confirmed after a firmware update or in-depth review.the problem will be astro-on-the-go, hypptv everywhere, and some local iptv. becos they can't catchup with the newer hardware and android versions. took a look at the specs of this U1. quad 2gb/16gb lollipop 5.1.1; 4k uhd - good. @voncrane - do you know why minix simply will not have hd audio pass thru? i want to try a minix at next chance but this "no hd audio" puts me off - i have lots of hd audio stuff to play with my home theater. As to why the Minix folks refuse to fully support all main formats...Well, CPU & GPU drivers support (Core drivers being handled by the manufacturers) and or licensing costs I guess. Heard its quite expensive. QUOTE(roxx @ Dec 18 2015, 08:00 PM) Errr... My main reason to use tv box because of astxx.. If currently unable to support then I might think of something else atm.. It handles HD audio decoding bro... No worries... Should be fine for live TV streaming... Besides, most if not all live TV streams carry just stereo 2.0 signals. No hd audio? Seriously?
