does Minix Neo U1 support PC wireless keyboard?

Yes.... Try not to overthink things.. If the Minix Neo U1 is within your budget, pull the trigger.. won't be disappointed.. Else buy a cheaper box...There are plenty.

hmm looking at it the hardware of minix u1 and nexbox a95x are pretty same... but minix is two times the price... may i know what other advantages minix have ?
*
Specs are not the same.. Plus with Minix, one is buying a box that its manufacturers actually defend and fix bugs or introduce features.. A custom Kodi app written specifically for their hardware and firmware...F.O.T.A (Firmware-Over-The-Air) Update System... Better third party apps compatibility... Excellent build quality and a box that stays cool despite being run for hours on end..

Appreciate this man! Complete noob about Android TV and what brand to choose from. These recommendation will help us noobs narrow down our choices. smile.gif I just don't have the luxury to back read plus the brands are unheard of. biggrin.gif
*
So what... You think we have the luxury of simply answering to your every whim about android boxes, particularly when its all just a simple search away or heck, just a page behind... User AVFAN as recent as 2 days ago... graciously typed out a long post, summarizing core info and you do not have the luxury of reading it...? shocking.gif In case you are unaware, this is a FORUM... Defined as :-
CODE
A place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
Nowhere in the above definition does it say its a place that acts as a customer service center. You want people at your beck and call? Stick to customer service centers belonging to the likes of Samsung, TM and or Astro.. Jeez!

QUOTE(drunkonpiss @ Nov 14 2016, 10:04 PM)
Appreciate the advice but the "baby" comment is unnecessary.
*
Sorry to burst your bubble... How about you do yourself and others a favor...act like an adult and at least read some info that has already been put up..After which, if you have particular questions or comments, the community would be more than willing to contribute.. Example? See below.. You can clearly see that zzzhhhzzz did some reading. Notice my response.

QUOTE(zzzhhhzzz @ Nov 14 2016, 10:33 PM)
hi guys.. reading through the forum i can conclude that most chinese android box from nexbox, beelink, sunvell doesnt support AOTG. The cheapest box that can support AOTG i guess should be MINIX ? (having MINIX NEO U1 in mind). Another question is how is the picture quality of AOTG when it is projected on large TV (since it is actually designed for tablets and mobile devices)
*
Yes, AOTG is supported on the Minix Neo U1... You'd have to leave it unrooted though as the AOTG app will not function on a rooted device...AFAIK, attempts to get it working on a rooted android device have proved futile.. As for PQ, well that depends on the up-scaling engine of your TV set. As you'll definitely be getting just SD quality. As you mentioned, its an app designed for mobile devices and not the big screen and so Astro has zero interest in maintaining servers and a service capable of delivering 1080p content for the big screen.

Nexbox A5

Android 6.0

Same function like most android boxes. Different name only lol
*
Pretty much the norm now... Same internal hardware, change outer case look and rebranded.. Fast hit the market.. Rinse & repeat. As long as it does the job you expect and can live with.. Its all good I guess..

Which is why brands like Minix, Himedia, Wetek, etc can get away with charger higher.. cuz one is purchasing more than just a hastily assembled box and a half-baked firmware.. smile.gif

Point taken sir. I apologize if my question on the previous post is deemed as redundant. Didn't mean to cause a raucous over a question.  Sorry for the OT:peace:

Back on topic.

I was just wondering that other brands are being shipped from overseas while Himedia doesn't. Question is, is Himedia manufactured locally? It seems to be one of the few Android boxes that aren't imported from China. I was just thinking about local warranty and support.
*
Apologies accepted.. All is well within the realm.. As has already been mentioned, majority if not all such boxes are being manufactured in China. It's a manufacturing & shipping hub after all. As for local warranty, it's mainly from the local seller.. Who'll assist in making claims from the parent company.. Same with support, though it's not that difficult to DIY. As long as you purchase a decent box from a reputable seller and it isn't a lemon unit.. Used properly, it should last a couple years till it breaks down or you upgrade to better hardware. The latter is typically what happens.

a 4 yr old himedia q5ii dualcore 1/8gb 4.2.

a little slow, limited storage but works good still.

a few apps, kodi (just a few addons), playback 1080p, DTSHDMA/DDTrueHD, wifi 50ft.

i paid rm320 at that time, i think it's great value!

I only have 3/4 addons in Kodi and additional 5 apps.
*
It's sufficient as long as you do not stream/store content that's more than that.. I've got about that same amount and no issues with streams.. As files bigger than that need to be fully downloaded first before playback. E.g BD.

i'm just asking... since hypptv standard box is not reliable enough do install other apps, has anyone tried install hypptv everywhere .APK, astro on the go .APK, tonton.APK on your android TV Box? If we can install this local and legal apk in the android box, we no need the original hypptv box from TM to see local channel  rclxms.gif

Yes it has been tried.. Search the thread.. I'd still prefer using the TM issued STB for Hypptv viewing cuz easier access and HD pq.

Hi guys, I just bought my second Android Box two days ago (My first is Minix Neo X8-H bought two years back, very high quality android box!).

This second model is quite new on the market, I placed the order on Lazada on the 9th Nov, shipped from China, received it 11 days later. Cost me RM312 after coupon.

This model probably the best deal now I believe

It is H96 Pro+ Octa-Core, Marshmallow 6.0.1 TV Box (32GB) Amlogic S912 CPU / 3GB RAM / Android 6.0 / 802.11a/b/g/n / 4K*2K ultra HD

The best part is 3GB Ram and 32GB Rom!

After two days playing with it, I would say it's very stable, fast in gaming, play 4K videos with ease, Kodi and other IPTV apps work flawlessly.

It's really worth buy!

Anyone else got this model and care to share any issue? Tq

Saw this Khadas Vim Open Source TV Box with Amlogic S905X Quad-core + Android 6.0 + OpenELEC + Ubuntu + Buildroot System + Bluetooth 4.2

Specs looks cool
Specs do look cool and it's an interesting project for sure.. Target market would be enthusiasts and some intermediate DIY skills required. So won't fly here, judging from the popular help me posts. Most can't even grasp the concept of apks, server load, source scraping, etc.. Handling OpenELEC or the beloved Ubuntu OS would see them cursing the device when hands on fixes are needed.. Keeping my eye on this one. Thanks.

Support miracast. Meaning, can I use the youtube app with chromecast to play videos on the tv?
*
Me thinks you are slightly confused.. Miracast while similar is not the same as Google's Chromecast and Google Cast. So might want to watch a YouTube video or 2 explaining those in detail. Most devices have miracast and Google casting features built in. Some work good and others can be problematic and not work all the time. Personally, for casting YouTube videos from a mobile device, I prefer to cast directly to the Smart TV itself. I recommend doing the same.

I know that I will be asked to read the posts for the few pages back.

But I would sincerely like to ask you if someone can do a simple summary to ease the users here smile.gif Not all of us are good at the terms and techy stuff.....

Primarily need to use the tvbox to watch CHINA DRAMA. Secondly china news like cctv and local news.
Hong Kong, Western drama/movies are an added advatage.
Thanks in advance
*
Good.. Here's why newbies are asked to read a couple posts back.. It's cuz the summary you seek has already been posted over and over again.. Info in the summaries are still relevant and unchanged at the moment. Also, it's because many newbies come in here expecting Prof. Dumbledore's level magic, that there's a box that does it all and allows em to terminate legit IPTV services like As***. Newsflash, there isn't a do it all box and buying an Android box does not equal world peace.

So if you want to buy a box and get your hands dirty, folks here are more than willing to help. However, if you want a box and your criteria includes illegal IPTV and movie sources and setups.. Head over to the garage sales section. Plenty of sellers willing to answer such questions and sell you a package. Be prepared to pay for their time and services.. Wanna ditch Astro but not work for it right? Comes with consequences..

Oh yeah, welcum to the thread and get the Minix Neo U1 or Nvidia Shield while you are it.. Both devices are rock solid, do not ship with illegal stuffs, but can be modified based on personal preferences. biggrin.gif

It's all a matter of personal preference.. See my above posts.. The Xiaomi Mi TV 3 is sufficient till you demand more than it can output, then it's no longer sufficient and you'd wish you got a box with better specs and or firmware.

Ps: is there a setting to reduce the amount of data usage?
*
Unfortunately yes, video streaming will take a huge chunk of the quota... The "setting" to reduce data usage is to avoid using data completely.. Basically, don't stream and or choose which content to stream and which to not.. So you are the switch. nod.gif

Hint: There are even single 1080p files that are over 30GB in size.. High bitrate content..

QUOTE(GI Jie @ Nov 27 2016, 04:01 AM)
Yes I know it is the software and I have no problems with that. It is definitely the hardware cos my phone is running at over 40mbps at the exact spot where the MiBox is whereas the MiBox is only downloading at less than 1mbps. Maybe it is the content provider but I have no way of testing it. No RJ45 socket in the MiBox and that's why I am thinking of upgrading to an android box with ethernet connection. It is never too expensive to keep the missus in the bedroom while I watch football on tv (astro) outside in the sitting roombrows.gif

I am now using the DLink DAP-1520 (AC750) extender in my bedroom for the MiBox but will change to the DLink DHP-309 (AV600) Powerline if I get an android box with a RJ45 socket. BTW, if I use the Powerline adapter, all I need is one connected to the router and multiple powerline adapters everywhere in the house, right? They are not individually paired, right? Can I like use two adapters connected to the router? Would that be an overkill and defeats the purpose? (I was born in an era where wifi was a phone line connected from the computer to the phone socket and running at between 25kbps and 50kbps).

In conclusion, the Himedia Q10Pro is ok?
*
When you say it like this? It's a win! tongue.gif The HiMedia Q10 Pro is more than sufficient... With wireless AC and Gigabit Ethernet... As for powerline connections. As the electrical connection should be along a phase, the Internet connection (thought halved I believe due to either sending signals up or down at a time) will follow. It’s almost impossible, without consulting an electrician, to know how well powerline ethernet will work for you. Even if your house is ideal, the result probably won’t be as fast or as stable as plugging straight into your network with an ethernet cable. So a direct Ethernet connection to the main router still remains the most ideal setup..

You can't.. Google's Chromecast is not designed as such. However, you could (if the TV supports such) either connect a Bluetooth or wired headset to the TV while streaming via the Chromecast.

I need the requirements on the following.
Got all types of movies ( Chinese , Malay and English )
Update by time when new movies release out.
I heard that 1OTT have this feature.
I need other model besides 1OTT.

Can watch live TV outside Malaysia. Like China and overseas.

For Malaysia live TV have to pay.
About RM 40 per month.

Any suggestion?

Hi guys, I need some advice.

My dad has asked me to get a box for him that can stream countless channels and movies.  he saw on lazada and was selling for RM480.  i went to gadget zone and they are selling theirs for RM590 with one year warranty.  And i take it, one year warranty means, uninterrupted streaming until i'm block by the authorities.

Any specific brand or specs I should buy?
Thanks.
*
Mistake number one.. It has been mentioned over and over in this thread.. Buying an android box does not always equal endless entertainment.. Especially one preinstalled.. Can endless entertainment be achieved? Somewhat, BUT it's completely dependent on the box owner's ability to keep up with the ever changing apps/services world (legal or otherwise). Once you fully understand this, your only concern will be getting a capable box that should handle almost all thrown at it..

P.S. That tiger in your avatar better be punching a rat or similar.. brows.gif

That's a long time... Looks like progress is being made so just let it run its course and don't interrupt it.. Risk bricking the device.
