There are a lot of models out there. I suggest you stick to well known & more android friendly models like those from IPEGA.. But first find out which model is indeed compatible, not just with your box, but the current firmware.

Sounds like a good controller with decent battery life.. Using a pair or 2..rechargeable AA batteries & charger come in handy.

That's one very "don't expect much from.. I am so cheapo" box.. Should work for your primary needs.. Major concern would be build quality..

Depends on the processors being compared. IMO, Amlogic is currently leading... Example- The older Amlogic S905 is better than Rockchip's RK3368 & RK3229.

No worries. Ain't selling. Buy for my own consumption.... With hotels now giving free wifi, bringing 1 cheap Android box seems more travel savvy.... Couple with an air mouse + USB cam... Better than chugging a laptop.

Dunno. Not bothered with the technicalities of this chip vs that chip... I'm in it for total user experience. Who care what chip in it. As long as it delivers I'm ok.

i may be a bit misleading in my requirements vs what i had in my skybox

the skybox only had some of the channels you see on astro, some bcos those that are HD cannot be decoded

I also had to pay around RM40 pm to be able to use the skybox and the cline account

now that is has expired and the skybox is just a wastebox i want an android tv that has everything in it, everything for me means = can watch movies and tv series. just english ones will do, no need chinese

the way android boxes work:

.. need a good stable connection... 10mbps will be good, anything higher excellent for HD streams.

.. these boxes are just boxes, the good stuff comes from what u install, i.e. apps or apk's.

.. there is no such thing as "everything in it" - becos some apps will die, need new or the provider can't maintain well.

.. there hundreds of apps; some are totally free, DIY. this is the bulk of the discussion here, what boxes, what apps, what changes, where to get what.

.. some apps are legit - u pay, good streams - netflix, iflix, and i think amazon now.

if u hv the time n patience and willing to get yr hands dirty, u can get a lot of stuff incl HD. a lot of us here are enjoying good free HD stuff everyday for several years now. but if u hv no time, then go to a shop or IT center, get a package but it is not guaranteed 100% service.

my experience, a few good apps is all u need. u dun hv the time watch so much anyway.
