Just the Saturday after I wrote this there is NO Bundesliga match. Today they show a crap FA Cup match instead, West Ham vs Doncaster biggrin.gif

A hard sell oriented Njoi salesperson will tell you this:

Want to watch all Bundesliga matches?
Subscribe to Premier League pack for only RM45 per month!

PL Pack (also means Premier League Pack) consists of CH 811, 812 and 813 only.

You can also opt for Sports Mega Pack, which includes more sports channels for RM65 per month!

And I would ask the salesperson "What did you do with Eurosport"? biggrin.gif

I usually booked the RM65 Mega pack last year, but mainly for Formula 1 and Eurosport. Not so much interest in football, if there is a free Live game on 801 I sometimes watch. Bundesliga quite entertaining no matter what match it is.
*

Then that same hard-sell salesperson will tell you:

"Well, why not subscribe to Astro's Sports Pack? Very cheap only. We have a promo now, it's only as low as RM84 a month!
user posted image
https://promotions.astro.com.my/details/getsports

Eventually the story ends, with you subscribing to Astro instead of Njoi prepaid.
This is called "upselling". tongue.gif

I answer "Well, salesperson, unfortunately I am often away from home because of work. Every year about 2 months in Europe, 1 to 2 months in China. So flexible Njoi Prepaid is perfect for me, Astro no use. OK, except in this special situation. Where I was NEVER outside Malaysia in the last 16 Months except exactly two days in Singapore January 2020"  laugh.gif

But if this all continues, I really could change to Astro, RM 84 if you use it every month is great. But it hopefully will not continue and so I asked "Why you kicked out Eurosport of the Mega pack?" cry.gif
*

The sales person would tell you "Then sorry la, there's nothing we can do about that. Eurosport channel out of Sports Mega Pack is not our decision. Probably the marketing department's decision. "

If you ask me personally, I would suggest you ask your friends or relatives that subscribes to Astro, and also subscribes to Sports pack, and then ask them to pinjam you their Astro Go account (email and password), so that you can watch all the sports channels right on your devices on Astro Go. You personally deal with them la, whether you want to "contribute" some amount of money to them or not. Hahahaha...

If they never use Astro Go before, that's even better. That means the account can be literally belongs to you already. Hahahaha... Just create Astro ID and then link to their Astro account, and that's it.
Don't need to bother about Njoi Prepaid and all those things anymore.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

is it still free without monthly fees ?
coz my neighbour which is our relative too.. he does not have any tv channel in his house. so pity him.

There's been a rumours spreading around, suggesting that Astro are currently have no stock for Njoi set-top-boxes, meaning new customers that wish to sign up Njoi may not able to do so for a while (until they have stocks, which nobody knows when).
Another rumours also, suggesting that Astro may temporarily or permanently stop offering Njoi no monthly fee option in the near future. sweat.gif
It feels like the end of Njoi is coming soon? Or it could be fake news? I don't know. Can't confirm about that.

If he doesn't want to pay for TV, then guide them on receiving/watching digital TV channels via UHF antenna instead. That one confirm no monthly fee. biggrin.gif

Guys, does anyone here have any experience downgrading from Astro value pack to this NJOI?

Will astro send technician over to fix a new decoder special for NJOI or they will simply just do some trick on their site?

Currently im using this kind of decoder

As you switch to Njoi, you will be using back your existing Astro box. They'll just do the account migration on their end.

That photo you attached, is the Astro HD box.

It is expected that Njoi would offer this model of set-top-box to new customers sooner or later... It's just a matter of time.
Very likely that the price for this Ulti Box will be much higher than the current RM300-400 price range.

I got a confirmation from Astro earlier, and I have been informed that NJOI free SD channels will remain on Njoi platform until 2022.
Which means in other words, these 6 free SD channels which is available on Njoi platform now, will NOT be made available in HD for Njoi viewers:
- Astro Prima (125)
- Astro Oasis (126)
- Astro Xiao Tai Yang (344)
- Astro AEC (346)
- CCTV 4 (375)
- Astro Arena (801)

Example, let's say from May 2021 onwards (after all the SD cessation exercise ends), you want to watch either Astro Prima (CH105 HD/125 SD) or Astro AEC (CH306 HD/346 SD) channel.

If you're using Astro (except Ulti/Ultra Box users of course), you will realise that CH125 and CH346 have gone "disappear/missing" from your channel list.
Hence, you can only watch the HD version of the corresponding channels which is CH105 and CH306.

However, if you are using Njoi, you will see that CH125 and CH346 still appear on your channel list, while CH105 and CH306 doesn't appear on the channel list just like now. Yes, Njoi viewers can only watch the channels in SD quality, while Astro customers get to watch it only in HD quality.

So this time you might wonder "how come like that?" Then let me continue on first.

Hence, you'll realise that only Njoi prepaid channels are being upgraded to HD, while Njoi free SD channels aren't being upgraded to HD quality. So if you wonder how come like that? The answer is simple: "It's free stuff, what you expect? That is the treatment you get (Njoi customer) for using free stuff."

Hope my answer above clarifies all your confusions.

When you press Power button on the Astro remote control, does it show "Services Currently Not Available (SCNA)?"

Check the satellite cable (usually white colour), make sure it is properly connected.
What are the troubleshooting steps you've done?

Opps.... You didn't mention that you are using your condo's centralise dish instead of your own dish sweat.gif But well, also my bad for didn't ask you that earlier... sweat.gif
If your Astro box is connected to the centralise dish, and signal issue arises, then the first person to approach to is your building management, not Astro/NJOI already.

Cuz the building management is the one in charge for its own centralise/master antenna systems, and basically Astro have no control over it (especially when the condo refuse to repair signal issues if any).

"I don't understand why NJOI is doing this..."
In order to know why they do this, unfortunately you will have to think from business perspective, not from consumer perspective. Be mentally prepared on what you're about to read below.

The reasons is pretty obvious
The overall company now is like: High operating costs + declining revenue
Of course, customers like us won't care them much anyway. So why they should bother care too much about us? That's the harsh reality. tongue.gif
So the reason why NJOI is doing this now is obvious: They want YOU to start paying for NJOI.
- Because paying RM15 per month is still better than paying RM0.00 per month.
- If Astro can't convince you to pay RM42.35 or RM65.00 monthly for its Family or Starter pack, then this RM15 per month is still better than nothing.
- If you are already an NJOI user that pays RM0.00 every month, then technically you are "nothing" to them. Since you are already not paying them anything, so they ain't owing you anything (they don't hutang you anything).
- Don't want to use NJOI? Then stop watching la. Feeling like "spreading hate" or boycotting over NJOI? Nobody stop you. It doesn't cause any monetary damage to them also.
- Since some people don't want to pay for TV service, they have the option to watch digital TV channels (MYTV platform) by using UHF antenna, and it is free forever.
- They don't need to make NJOI to be "more attractive", because Astro/NJOI already knows themselves that their channel/content are already attractive to viewers. Well, except when it comes to money. 🙂

But.... Paying RM15 per month for getting the same channels...? confused.gif
Yes, they know you want to watch ALL channels in HD quality. But as an NJOI customer, you are not happy because there's no chance of enjoying them in HD.... until soon.
user posted image
But just RM15 for the sake of watching those channels in HD, not everyone would be convinced to start paying...
So it seems to me that what they plan to do soon is, they would "forcefully" include selected of those NJOI free channels as part of NJOI HD prepaid channels of RM15/month, including Prima, Oasis, AEC, Xiao Tai Yang, Awani, and even Hello and eGG Network.
Why I think that way, is because according to the flyer, those channels I just mentioned, doesn't seems to be part of NJOI free channels anymore (refer photo above)?

My wild guess is, this would probably apply to new NJOI sign ups only, whereby if you don't pay RM15/month for NJOI HD, it's likely that you langsung won't be able to watch those channels at all, not even in SD quality...?
Meanwhile for existing NJOI viewers would still continue to enjoy free NJOI channels in SD as it is now? hmm.gif But it would be a matter of time for them to "slowly migrate" existing NJOI users to start paying. Will see how it goes la... 😄

"Ughhh, those 18 free channels are boring..."
Boring? Then start paying RM15 per month lah. End of story. 🙂
Don't want to pay? Then good luck enjoying free-to-air channels from RTM, Media Prima, TVS, Awesome TV and so on, cuz that what's they left for you for paying RM0.00 every month.
And hey, they still let you watch Go Shop channels for free 😁

NJOI starting to shift its business?
Since NJOI started its free-to-view satellite TV service back in 2012, and Malaysians have been enjoying free satellite TV service from NJOI for almost 10 years, it also means most of you are already familiar with NJOI service and would already "hooked up" on NJOI channel offerings already.
So if one day (and that day is very soon to me), NJOI now tells you "Want to continue watching those channels? We offer you these channels now, on top of it, it is in HD quality, for RM15 per month."
For sure, some would be willing to pay for it (cuz they find it worthwhile for many reasons), while some don't.
This is called, business strategy. thumbup.gif

How about TV1, TV2 and TVS?
QUOTE(shaun_kok @ Apr 21 2021, 05:52 PM)
* In this case, TV1, TV2 and TVS are available as HD format for Astro customers. However, it is available in SD format for NJOI customers.
*

Hmm, luckily shaun_kok pointed out about TV1, TV2 and TVS, cuz I almost forgot that this 3 channels is still in SD quality on NJOI 😓
It seems to me that it will still in SD as it is, even if you pay RM15 for NJOI HD? I don't know, I just interpret according to flyer photo above. 😓
But to think again, TV1, TV2 and TVS channels itself, is basically not "owned" by Astro.
So I guess, it is up to RTM and TVS's decision on how they negotiate with Astro/NJOI, whether to allow all NJOI viewers to watch the channels in HD for free, or continue as SD as it is now. 🤔

NJOI starting to compare itself... with Sirius TV now?
The upcoming satellite pay TV service from another company, Sirius TV, although it is still in test transmission now, but NJOI starts to compare its offerings with them so soon already. 🤣
user posted image
Who knows later NJOI would offer something similar like Sirius TV... Let's say you pay a one-off of around RM399, you'd get NJOI prepaid HD channels for 12 months. And then from 13th month onwards, whether you want to pay RM15 for 30 days to continue watching those channels or not, it is up to you.
So yeah, NJOI is levelling up their game. I wonder how Sirius TV would react to that 😅

The comparison table above, errr, kinda inaccurate?
First of all, where on Earth did they know Sirius TV offers exactly 18 channels? At the point of writing, Sirius TV is still on test transmission and it has 11 channels up on air now.
According to some reliable sources, Sirius TV plans to launch up to 30 channels soon. What would be the 30 channels, that is still remain to be seen.
"Komitmen Bulanan" (Monthly Commitment) of RM20/month. Really? Did Sirius TV said that customers will be "committed" to pay RM20 every month?
user posted image
Source: https://siriusmalaysia.tv/residential/
"Ketersediaan dalam HD" (HD Ready), and NJOI indicate it as a "X" means No. Are they saying that Sirius TV's set-top-boxes is not capable of HD, or don't have HD channel at all? What nonsense is this?
Meanwhile for "Jenama M" (referring to MYTV/myfreeview digital TV), it only indicate it as a "tick", while NJOI HD has 10 HD channels.
Guess what, MYTV/myFreeview digital TV has a total of 12 HD channels at the point of writing.

Looks that Astro/NJOI marketing team need to do more research before comparing with competitor's services.

So what's gonna happen next?
We'll just have to watch closely and wait for further announcements.
As usual lah, Astro is a tight-lipped company for some reasons, and it doesn't matter to them even we hate it. Even NJOI's website (https://www.njoi.com.my/home) still doesn't mention anything about it (as of point of writing).
We shall embrace the end of free-to-view NJOI satellite TV service soon. It doesn't matter you like it or hate it, cuz it will happen anyway.

Therefore, I'm sure what Astro/Njoi trying to do now is slowly "migrate" existing Njoi viewers to start paying NJOI HD prepaid of RM15 for 30 days, although they will try to look like "optional" from the surface. Sooner or later, if they are really desperate, I believe they will do it by force.

How, you ask? Simple. Just cease those SD channels (e.g. 125, 126, 231, 346, 531....), and Njoi free viewers won't be able to watch them anymore. Indirectly, it is telling you to pay for RM15/30 days to continue watching your favourite channels, and this time almost all of it is in HD.
