Same issue. Let’s report to them.

already report ,but they said our warranty is expired, advise us to but new set
*

Hmmm... Is this their new way to persuade you to subscribe to their NJOI HD pack (RM15/month), or just upgrade to Astro subscription altogether?

After all, because NJOI users prior 28 Apr 2021 are enjoying zero monthly fees to access to the 20+ channels, and when technical issues like this arises, you will be at a disadvantaged position, compared to those Astro monthly paying customers.

Or maybe, try file a MCMC complaint, and see what they say.

Since my NJOI comes with an Astro outdoor unit which I cannot use in my condo, what can I do with it?
*

Find those Astro installers out there, and sell the whole set to them. Some installer willing to buy it from you one...
You can also easily find them on Facebook search...

Otherwise, you can be a good customer by walk in to Astro service centre and return it to them. smile.gif

Hi,

New Njoi user can't enjoy free channel celestial classic ? ch321.

Old njoi user still can enjoy it for free right?
*

Yes you are correct. Whoever sign up/activate NJOI accounts from 28 April 2021 onwards, will get lesser number of channels, and have to subscribe to NJOI HD pack (RM15/30 days) to enjoy Celestial Classic Movies (321) as well as other channels.
Existing old NJOI customers (before 28 April 2021 ones) can still enjoy Celestial Classic Movies channel for free as usual.

So if you already have NJOI before 28 April 2021, please take good care of your Astro box. biggrin.gif Cuz once the box went rosak for whatever reason, means The End for you already. bye.gif
There shall be no after sales support for you, unless you buy a brand new NJOI box, which you still have to pay for NJOI HD pack (RM15/30 days) to watch CCM channel.
Or else, you will only have access to the free boring 18 channels shown on the picture above.

Been months abandoning my njoi. Box went kaput and not interested in renewing. But yesterday hands got itchy and pried open the decoder. Long story short, I managed to repair it. So since months  got disconnected with them, I was greeted with Unavailable service message. To my surprise, sms activation no longer worked now. Had to live chat them on WhatsApp. Was asked to provide card number and must be owner of the account. Astro now make life even harder for unpaid customers....kudoss!!

What is the error message you see on your TV screen? Take pic see...
And also, do check on the satellite cable connection too.

What model is yours? Mine is DS830NA. Recommend to replace all the ecaps you can see. I tested all 19 capacitors and almost all turned to be bad and dying... especially the 220uF ones.

In my case, the pwm ic sc2608b (located near front two LEDs) was blistering hot to the touch. So you have to check yours.... might be different problems.
The repair costs me roughly RM30....RM18 pwm ic (AliExpress) and RM10 for 19++ pcs capacitors.

Sorry mate, don't know how to teach people haahhah. If you're really into this, pictures and photos are readily available everywhere on the net. Just need a basic skills in soldering and you're good to go.

What drives me into this was astro's warranty policy towards their njoi customers. Once expired, you're on your own. Dead decoder beyond expiry date and you have to re-register for new account like new customer...for another RM300++?!!
How absurd that was when they can take in repairs...but they chose not to....haizzzz!!!
*

I think the reason is pretty obvious why Astro wants to do that...
Basically, Astro just don't want to provide after sales support to those out of warranty boxes especially NJOI users, because it doesn't financially benefit them. Plus, NJOI users are either not paying anything monthly or paying less for prepaid channels. Since you're already paying little to nothing every month, so they have no obligation to provide after sales support for you.

If you want after sales support, either you buy brand new box or upgrade back to the normal Astro and pay monthly fees.
Otherwise, NJOI will be pretty much a "disposable set top box". Use until spoil, and then throw.

Think of it, like you use a DVB-T2 digital TV box. If it spoils, then the MYTV Broadcasting won't help you further, other than advise you to buy new one on your own.

Hey guys. Im about to pull the trigger on njoi hd. I could not stand bootlegs iptv with indo subtitle anymore. But based on my calculation, it seems that njoi hd actually cost more than what i anticipated. Channel that i want is not in pack hence need to pay rm20 each. Kindly advise should I go for it?
*

That is the reason why they make it that expensive.
Cuz they want you to eventually subscribe to Astro instead, and pay for monthly subscription.

For Landed House
NJOI box (with satellite dish) = RM264.60
For High Rise
NJOI box (without satellite dish) = RM239
HD Box Replacement
NJOI box (without satellite dish) = RM239

Prices above excludes installation fee, range from RM50 to RM85.

That "Without satellite dish" are not to be confused with Plug & Play. Plug & Play is only offered to Astro customers only.
"Without satellite dish" means no new satellite dish unit kit will be provided by the installer during installation day, so it is usually meant for those who stay in apartment/condo that uses centralise dish, or whoever that already have an existing Astro dish installed at your house now.

Do note that NJOI box comes with 1 year warranty only. So once the warranty is over, and if your box went kaput for whatever reason (e.g. strike by lightning), that means you have to straightaway pay full price to buy a new NJOI box. No free free. No repair repair. nod.gif

Yes, look closely at the 18 TV channels you'll be getting if you buy an NJOI box now.
user posted imageUnless if you are a fan of Astro Tutor TV, 3 different Go Shop channels, NJOI TV channel 140 that only recycle old shows, and also Astro radio channels, you can already access to the rest of the FTA channels for free with MYTV myfreeview (digital TV) by using a UHF rooftop antenna. Or through MYTV DTH if you're staying in remote or DTT coverage blind spot areas.

To me it is no much of an "improvement" over MYTV digital TV channels, unless you plan to subscribe at least NJOI HD for RM15/30 days, and on top of NJOI prepaid channels.

Ironically you can still watch EGG and Astro Arena for free on Sooka. Wtf Astro
*

Sooka is meant to target millennials / different customer segment. Those who aren't tech savvy to use online streaming or having limited access to Internet connection one, yet find that it is so much easier and simple to just press CH800 or CH801/831 on a remote control, then too bad for you la. You get what you paid for.

Like I mentioned earlier, if you don't want to pay, then look for other alternatives. Since we all know that we can watch eGG and Astro Arena for free on Sooka (and it's in HD somemore), would you choose to abandon NJOI and go to Sooka instead?

Remember, one is satellite TV, another is online streaming. We can't just compare between apple to apple like that, cuz everyone's viewing preferences is different.

I read some netizens postings and one of it mentions like "Astro is treating NJOI as if it's like their step-children." (NJOI bagai dianak-tirikan oleh Astro). Well I do personally agree with this, cuz ironically NJOI aren't making much profit to the company, yet many existing paying Astro customers are migrating over to NJOI because they don't want to pay monthly fees. Astro can't just sit quiet about this, if they want to survive in the long run.
So how can you expect Astro treat NJOI the same way as how they treat its other products offerings?

PRIMEtime will be replacing Hello channel.
For those who has NJOI before 28 April 2021 ones, you will lose free access to Hello channel 702 soon. What can I say? Free stuff doesn't last forever 😂😂😂
For NJOI users, you can watch PRIMEtime channel by subscribing to NJOI HD RM15/30 days.

This is like "change skin, but similar English content", and then monetise it on NJOI platform.

I think I will be using 2 box NJoi + Myfreeview
*

For those who've been using NJOI before 28 Apr 2021 ones, they are still able to enjoy free 8 SD channels listed above.
While those who newly sign up NJOI after 29 Apr 2021 ones, they won't be getting that free 8 SD channels at all.

If those 8 free SD channels would to cease for NJOI users (before 28 Apr 2021 ones) starting 1 Jan 2022, that means all NJOI users (new and old) will "become equal" then?

The previous owner had cancelled his subscription. talked to their CS and normal lah, get the standard answer (cannot unless you are the owner).

Most importantly, are you still able to watch any channels on that Astro box that he/she pass it to you? If you see error message, what does it says?

I mean is, what message appears when you tune to the TV channels? Is it "This channel is not included in your subscription" or "We apologise for the service interruption"?
Are you able to listen to the digital radio channels (CH 852-877) without any error message?

And, which Astro box model is that? Is it the normal HD box (Zapper)? Or the PVR box? Does it have WiFi connection?
Since when the account is being deactivated?

Hi

This is the error: "We apologise for the service interruption. to resume serive please sms: ASTRO RCO XXXX XXXX XXXX (SIM card number) and send to 66688."

On my first plug in, i manage to play radio (but not tv channel) for a while, then the error took over the screen, then i can't go back to the main menu anymore.

The services should just deactivated this or last year, as the person pass to me already a third hand. This unit is a very small size model, size like a hand of a man, got a sticker on it written year 2019

I have another decoder which have harddisk and wifi too, but that device get locked down by a pin code (tried 0000 and 1234 no longer work), even the setting get changed by them until the satelite signal is 0%. right now im trying to test the pin code until 9999 so that i can reset the setting to factory default.

btw, may i know these information have any help on the conversion to njoi?
*

What I know is, even if there is a way to convert the account to NJOI, I think they might charge you a one-off conversion fee of RM99.

Another decoder that you referring to, seems like it's PVR box (DMT5) to me.
For that Astro account, is it still active or what?
Did you try to contact customer service for assistance about this? Maybe you can try tell them to reset PIN or something?

i dont mind pay the 99, but is anyone going through the same like mine by attempt to do something with this "gift" decoder?
*

Well then, you'll have to find ways to inform the account owner to perhaps send an email to Astro, by saying that <account owner> would like to convert the account to NJOI.
And then see what are the further instructions from there.

Or, in that email, can mention that the <account owner> would like to want to transfer ownership to your name, and then <account owner> have to provide his/her and also your supporting documents to them via email as well. You can ask them via email, they'll advise you on what documents to provide.

If either ways also cannot, then I think it's pretty much a dead end for you already.
Maybe you can consider walk in to Astro service centre and just return it to them, or you just find whoever that willing to buy those used Astro/NJOI boxes so that they can use it for spare parts. sweat.gif
Or, just treat it as e-waste and dispose it.

Tune to any other channels that doesn't show the SCNA message, and then press home>Settings>STB Diagnostics
Look at the top corner of the screen, how many % do you see for "Strength"?
