Ya, no more free, I checked their facebook page too.

Btw is the switchover immediate or need to wait few days?
*

I believe the process is similar to terminating Astro service, where you need to give advance 30 days notice as well.

Anything that disadvantages them financially won't be "immediate" one.

If i recall, have to follow your bill cycle, and then after end of your bill cycle then only switch over.
Please correct me if I were to be wrong. I also was hoping it was immediate.
Maybe you need to check back with Astro how long it takes to convert.

And last time they counter offer me - something like 40 channels with some HD, for special monthly subscription RM 60 per months, only offer over the phone.
I still say No to the offer. Its like as though they wanna do customer retention.

So its like what joshhd says:
Anything that disadvantages them financially won't be "immediate" one.  thumbsup.gif

That's Starter Pack, originally priced at RM65/month incl. tax.
For new customers, you'll get RM7 rebate for 24 months, total is RM58/month incl tax.

Meaning from the 25th month onwards, the monthly price will revert back to the original RM65/month.

Currently, Starter Pack can be subscribed by anyone.

If the njoi website is latest , it means still stay in SD format. From the look , less than 3 channel are in HD https://www.njoi.com.my/njoi-prepaid , previously still have some HD channel.
Now year 2020 still SD and the price subscribing per channel is RM7 for 3 days or rm20 for a month for single channel.
Even more expensive  , than normal astr0. I am referring to sport channel.

Normally , what LED tv are you guys using ? don't you feel too blur for SD on a full HD 42-55 inch LED tv ? hardly able to read some small words announcing on covid.
RTM also HD already , but pay channel still SD sweat.gif

You mean Sports Mega pack?

Njoi Prepaid's Sports Mega Pack:
user posted image
Astro SuperSport 1, 2, 3, 4, Fox Sports 1 and 2, and also beIN Sports and beIN Sports Max.

All channels (incl. SD and HD) shown above, at this one price:
RM65 for 30 days
RM106 for 60 days
*

All sports channels on Njoi under "Sports Mega Pack" includes both SD and HD version of the channels. So for that, don't worry.

In a "harsh but that's the truth" kind of explanation
Because Njoi is a no-monthly-commitment, freemium satellite TV service, means you pay nothing to them monthly to enjoy selected free channels.
And because you're on that Njoi platform, they would mainly offer you SD quality to encourage you to convert to Astro subscription which has HD and more channels.

In simple words: You want this channel in HD? We offer Starter Pack with a monthly fees of RM___/month and u can enjoy way more channels, also in HD.
That's why they won't simply entertain and materialise every Njoi customer's requests so easily, so that they'll have a better reason to upsell their latest Astro package offerings to you.
Of course Astro would love customers to have monthly commitment, contracts and so on, as this can somehow "guarantee" and "stabilise" their income/revenue in the long run.

In a "nicer words" kind of explanation
"That's a good idea. We've forwarded your feedback to our relevant department for future consideration." biggrin.gif

Yes. Njoi viewers no longer eligible to enjoy any form of video streaming services from Astro starting 30 Sept 2019 (the older app name called Njoi Now).

It's a free satellite TV service. What you expect? tongue.gif
Go ahead and uninstall Astro Go app. biggrin.gif

*

Yes you're right. The legacy box's software itself is mainly in blue colour.
But because this message is a "pop up type" and interactive channel like CH200, CH480-481, Astro can customise on how it want it to look like by using their typical grey background (which is used in current Astro boxes as well).

Its so bloody obvious how Astro is (ill) treating NJOI customers. Yes we are sort of - non paying customers majority.
But we are still a customer.

So happen few days ago I wanted to try a new channel and I stumbled upon Discovery channel.
So I went into CH 200 and wanted to try the free preview. Its approved even (via whatsapp).
So i inquired to ASS-tro on why their free preview does not work. Here is my enquiry.
"Recently I wanted to try a free preview for Discovery Asia channel however I couldn't. To add things , the message "Sila tonton Pek Discovery Asia di TV anda selepas *10 minit.*" is very misleading. If I waited after 10mins then my trial period will end and I won't get to watch at all. Are you guys sincere in giving free preview? to me its a deciding factor whether I should subscribe to that channel."

And this is their lame and annoying reply.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Come on, ASS-tro. Its just only 10 mins , not 1 day even. But weirdly, previously I was able to get free preview on other channels.
In the end I gotten fedup, I decided not to subscribe to their Discovery channel. Because their mentality is - No free watching , if you pay, then yes .

And this is why some turn to Android Box. Everything also want to calculate.
*

It is obvious enough that they aren't sincere in giving free channel preview to Njoi customers. Seriously, 10 minutes.....
You want to watch, then pay for it.

Otherwise, don't bother.
Yes, Njoi customers are still their customers, so for sure you will get different treatment compared to paying customers.
Life is that unfair la....

Today 30th November.
Out of sudden just now at 8pm when I turn on my Astro decoder (Its originallly from Beyond),

at first it was showing "No information".

Then I cycle power off and on the power adapter.
The red light just flash on and off.
Press power button on decoder , on the remote also no reaction on the Decoder.
Nothing on the TV.

Does that mean my Decoder has just died? No lightning strike whatsoever.
But before its death, i notice each time I watch my Astro - it will randomly suddenly "Service currently not available" even though on sunny day or no rain at all .

Edit: I found some links for those can repair the decoder. I dont wanna spend RM 300+ just to change a brand new decoder. No no  wink.gif

Maybe... Try change a new power adapter for your Astro box.
If still the same, then very likely your Astro box is faulty.

Check if the cable connection and satellite dish alignment are perfectly aligned.
If still the same, then probably the Astro box is faulty and needs to be replaced.

I have no comment about the "Astro repairs" as it will be at your own risk.

how is it with njoi? thinking to subscribe for my dad who love to watch soccer match...any review?
*

Do note that for Njoi, this 2 sports channels are part of the listing of free TV channels, which are eGG Network (ch800) and Astro Arena SD (ch801).

If Premier League matches is your must-have, then you can go for Premier League pack for RM45 per month.
Top up some credit into the account once you got your set-top-box, and then you can subscribe to it on CH 200.
user posted image
PL Pack (also means Premier League Pack) consists of CH 811, 812 and 813 only. The rest all don't have.

You can also opt for Sports Mega Pack, which includes more sports channels for RM65 per month.

Tip: For Njoi users, the user interface language will be in Malay by default upon launching CH 200.
Press the "Audio/Subtitle" button on remote control to switch between Malay/English language.

quite a limited choice of 3-day package for us who want to use only on weekends, for example.

planning to relocate my unit to my wife kampung house. it has not been used at my house for a long time now.
*

If it is temporary and you don't want the hassle, just bring the Astro box over to that house (that has Astro dish installed) and just plug n play. It'll still work.

Remember this 3 items:
- Astro box
- Power adapter
- Astro remote control
- HDMI cable

If that house already has remote control and HDMI cable, then you can choose no need to bring them. Just the astro box and power adapter would do.

no.. permanently. i have already brought my extra dish there but not installed yet. no i dont wish to watch it at home anymore. got plenty of other "alternatives" because of internet  biggrin.gif . at my wife kampong area, no internet & fon network is very poor, & at the moment the only "entertainment" comes from mytv freeview channels. but my point is if there's not enough 3-day packs on offer, it might not be worth bringing over. longest we ever stay there at a time is 3 days.
*

3 days of some entertainment from Astro/Njoi is still better than nothing lolll, considering you are in a place of limited Internet access.
Since you said it is permanent, then just get your Astro dish installed at your wife's kampong house, then just put the Astro box there.
If you want the relocation process to be more "official", then just contact Astro about it, then they'll assign a technician to carry out relocation work for you, and they may charge you with some fees.

Don't dismantle the Astro dish at your own house yet. Cuz in the future when you feel like you want to watch Astro at your own home again, just bring the Astro box back again, and plug n play.
Yeah, bring the Astro box back and forth between houses, whenever you need.

There are people does that, especially when they go back their kampung.
Like let's say their Astro box subscribed to more packages, while the one at kampung house's is only Njoi.
So during family gathering, when one of them brings their Astro box back to the kampung house, then everyone can enjoy more TV channels compared to boring Njoi channels.

Of course, do it at your own risk la... Don't tell this to Astro 🤫🤫🤫🤫
Right now what Astro you're currently using, and what packages you're on?
