Really tempted to buy the V15 but knowing Acer i must molest the model and wait for review first. (The built in battery bothers me tho, preciously using Acer TimelineX gaming on that machine not more than 6 months battery kaput already). I have molested the Asus, nice build quality but i didnt really like the screen. I hate anti-glare FHD screen, it just doesnt work imo. FHD screen must be glossy in order to showcase the HDness. For me la.

No bro, my acer 4830tg battery previously was very good 7hrs usually, but after i started gaming (dota 2) my battery deteriorate because of heat in about 4 months. thats why i dont understand why must they make a gaming laptop with built-in battery. But luckily Asus G551 battery is not built-in. I might be buying that out of these 3 altho the Acer specs is really tempting.

If you are not concern about the bulkiness of the size and plain design, the G551 would be suitable for you. As for Lenovo more targeting towards almost ultrabook-like. And the weight for each laptops are different as weight would also affect mobility Asus G551JM : 2.7 kg Acer V Nitro : ~2.4 kg Lenovo Y50-70 : 2.5 kg Sources G551JMAcerY50-70This post has been edited by syncomp: Oct 14 2014, 03:10 PM

I heard Frixfox said that the screen of G551JM is a TN Panel not the IPS Panel. Is anyone here can confirm the screen is IPS Panel ? Sources Frixfox Solutions

Hmm I'm a little worried about cooling on the ASUS or Acer. Would probably be best to wait for torture tests to come in.
I like that the ACER has dual fans and they are also reversible like the Lenovo. But at the same time ASUS isn't an idiot, their cooling is probably pretty good too.
Not too worried about the battery issue, I'm sure it's easily replaceable once you remove the back plate. Simple stuff.
Need to wait for teardowns and torture TESTS!!

Anyone have any explorer problem to their Y50?
My Y50 is sluggish and take a long time to open up folders and some simple applications installation file..the installation menu take a long time to come out..
Its not even a week for my lappie..past few days was alright for me.
Is it becoz the drivers? I noticed alot background processes such as NVIDIA, HD Audio..

QUOTE(Nui Nui @ Oct 16 2014, 01:31 PM) Asus call it FullHD EWV panel, EWV is kind of wide view but lower quality, not to IPS/PLS level. Well, MSI GE60 2PE Apache Pro is IPS panel & wide-view angle (178 degree) GE60 2PE is FHD anti-glare, TN panel (not IPS) sourceThis post has been edited by ytlay: Oct 16 2014, 07:45 PM

QUOTE(NewbieBetta @ Oct 17 2014, 01:51 AM) so current best bang for buck 15inch gaming lappy is acer? lenovo already out of league? As according to supplier, both asus and acer has Super limited stock for G551 or nitros black. After having a short talk with acer ppl, they "hint" that these are somesort of marketing campaign So i think, those who is lucky to find either G551 or nitros black, grab it.

IMO, Lenovo is still best bang for the bucks if considering to extend their promo with the razer bundle. That mouse alone would cost RM 200 - 300++ in the market, as they promoting their laptop as gaming notebook and gamers use mouse not trackpad. Lenovo still win in terms of thinness and weight, stylish (red USB 3.0, red keyboard, speaker grill and glossy finish up top) laptop design, double fans, well known JBL speaker and subwoofer This post has been edited by syncomp: Oct 17 2014, 12:06 PM
