Tested the paddle shift this morning for a short distance. Accelerating/shifting up is great but shifting down is kinda jerky, I am too rusty with manual gears after 10 years plus with auto gear.

QUOTE(abundai @ Feb 10 2014, 12:38 PM) for XV, i woulndnt call jerky a "negative point", cos the downshift is almost mimic a non CVT gbox, which i think is a good thing... sound fun, need to break in the new engine and familiarize myself with the CVT in manual mode first before i do all these fun stuff.it gives a a manual feel to it... more in control of car speed.... before turn into corner at high speed, release gas, downshift to 3rd,then halfway out, step on gas and feel the grip... seriously, its fun....like my XBOX... hehe... Btw, we can just push the stick from D to M and vice versa anytime at any RPM and speed? This post has been edited by Cynox: Feb 10 2014, 01:48 PM |

QUOTE(pai3355 @ Feb 11 2014, 10:43 AM) the less popular the brand, for sure the resale value will be lower. If i think the resale value is low after 5 years later, i will keep using it until 10 years IF there is no major issue with the XV that need major maintenance/repair. After 10 years, i think the average depreciation will be about the same for any car. Btw, the frequency of the model refresh will also affect the resale value. Normally, what is the update frequency of Subaru model? 3 years facelift, 5 years new model? Edit: Is there any other way to turn on the Kenwood HU other than pressing the Menu button? I need to press quite hard on the button to turn on the HU, scare will increase the wear and tear. I tried to press the Mode button on the steering wheel for few second but it does not turn on the HU. This post has been edited by Cynox: Feb 11 2014, 10:54 AM |

QUOTE(abundai @ Feb 11 2014, 12:34 PM) any1 interested to get RokBlokz mudflaps from US? Very nice. The XV shown is fixed with Subaru OEM mud guard as well i think. Is this a custom made perfect fit for XV or just generic one that we will need to cut here and there to fit it? Any import duty?around 80usd + shipping (combine is allowed) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(abundai @ Feb 11 2014, 02:06 PM) it fits perfectly, with or without the original mudflap... ok, combine shipping should be fine. But need to trouble you to do the postage from your place to me at JB.i plan to remove the original mudflap, and just use the Rokblokz... wanna do combine shipping? if im not mistaken, ur in Johor right? cos if we combine shipping (usd60) (i'll send urs using poslaju) would be a cheaper option than if we both use USPS priority (usd 45 each)... QUOTE(gend @ Feb 11 2014, 02:19 PM) On the menu page, you can also press STANDBY. It does not power down, but it goes on 'sleep' mode......but in any case, i just leave it switched on... good idea.QUOTE(pai3355 @ Feb 11 2014, 02:27 PM) yup, ask my installer to bypass it when i replaced the front speakers and add an amp and subwoofer last Saturday. A bit regret to get the 12" subwoofer, kinda too big for the XV's boot. |

QUOTE(abundai @ Feb 11 2014, 03:37 PM) nice...poslaju is not a problem.... Just visited their web site, din notice they have white color for the flap. Although my car is white but mudflap in white colour is kinda weird, and hard to maintain i think. I will take Black Flap with White decal. so what color u want? have a look at their website first.. just google rokblokz... they have black, white and red (with black, white, red decal)... diff combo, diff price... let me know urs and i'll get a confirmation from them... im getting the black with red decal (or maybe white decal...eheh) cos both are nice... i like black n white decal (like the Mazda 3 picture i posted earlier) |

QUOTE(abundai @ Feb 11 2014, 04:16 PM) cool.. i guess for payment, you will bank in ur share to me and i proceed with paypal? I think nowadays Kastam will impose tax no matter whether it reaches RM500 or not. I bought some accessories for my Note 3 and Ipad Air, all not exceeding RM500, some only RM100+ but still kena tax of 10-15%. Bought the same accessories more than 1 years ago but no import duty was imposed. So i think be prepare to pay some import duty. or maybe we can ask rokblokz to issue 2 seperate paypal invoices (total / 2) , if u wish to pay using ur own paypal, but send to 1 address? but since its 1 shipping address, 2 units will cost more than rm500... if im not mistaken, custom might impose an extra tax (if we're unlucky), which i dont think would be much either... if we do get taxed, then we'll split the cost? Need to double check first if possible coz i think Malaysia imposes heavy import duty on rubber products to protect local rubber industry. I am not sure what category is the mudflap. Maybe you can ask RokBlokz what is the HS code for their product, so we can check our Kastam import duty listing for the tax rate. EDIT: I can transfer payment to you via M2U. You just let me know the final amount. This post has been edited by Cynox: Feb 11 2014, 04:36 PM |

QUOTE(abundai @ Feb 11 2014, 05:50 PM) @Cynox Some say because of the courier use - UPS parcel will have higher chance of getting tax than US Post. Kinda true for me - all my UPS parcel kena tax, no matter the amount. So far item send via slow US Post no tax. i always buy stuffs from ebay too, but never got tax.. maybe i just got lucky recently... @joker98 u bought ur mudflaps last time, got taxed? |

QUOTE(Wildbeard @ Feb 11 2014, 09:52 PM) Hi guys been wanting to ask this since I got my fxt. The motor image guy told me clearly and sternly not to drive the fxt above 160 km/h before hitting 5,000 km mileage. Anyone knows the reason why? just common sense |

QUOTE(joker98 @ Feb 14 2014, 09:48 AM) No I am using a proper HUD unit. Using handphone or tablet is not that good, because the screen is not bright enough for daylight usage and the gloss screen finish will reflect sunlight that will affect the reflection of the numbers. oic, thanks for sharing. I dun think i need a dedicated HUD for the XV. Using my Note 3 with Torque Pro will be good enough. I am using this one: http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/OBD-2-II-HUD-/1...=item1e86ea8c6f But there are tonnes of others with different designs around. But I like this one because it can do 0-100km/h logging. And for better clarity during daytime, choose the white/yellow coloured fonts. Though green/blue looks damn cool during night time but will be hard to see during bright sunlight. |

any XV owner install aluminium mesh to their front bumper to protect the radiator from small stones? I did install the same to my previous Livina as there is reported case of punctured radiator from flying stones. Wondering should i do it too to the XV.
Yesterday tried to book 1k service at 230pm today but was told no slot available (JB Plentong). Give me a Monday slot instead. |

QUOTE(jimmy9119 @ Feb 16 2014, 12:34 AM) Hi guys, just a question. I've read the entire write up about bypass of the HU unit. With the grounding done, does the player still able to play a movie at higher speed? im asking this because ive read somewhere that the handbrake grounding thing only helps up to very slow speed, and it goes off the with the vehicle speed sensor after that, that the player will still be blocked. Can any member who did the grounding bypass share this? Pls pm me your contact so that i can call you guys up as well I already done the bypass (by my installer), it works perfectly no matter what is the speed. It is just a simple cable that connect to the handbrake, nothing to do with the speed. On the other hand, yes, just check my glovebox, it will light up only when the headlight is switched on. |

Not the first time for Tan Chong Motor. MI's sister company also has such situation when they first introduced their Latio and later Grand Livina. After idling for quite some time, launching the Latio and Grand Livina suddenly increase their sales by few folds, so the service centre has a hard time coping with the demand in servicing. Tan Chong Nissan has done quite remarkably in recent years after the Latio and Grand Livina, following by many new models.
Hopefully Motor Image will be doing the same to Subaru. |
