The only BIG pressure on BR is IMO , Luis Suarez and 4th position.

The gap is widening between 3rd and 4th as we expected with MancsC , Chelski and Arsenal with the better squads.

If we do not get 4th CL place, we may see Luis leave.
THAT will put a bit of spanner in the works.
Plus we would find it hard again to attract big name MONKEY signings.

Make lemon juice outta lemon man...

walk on. Plus good to know Suarez wont go off cheap

We lost both Villa n Stoke encounter last season. This time we got 4 out of 6 points. Plus we fought back. Something dat didnt happen last season.

Didn't watch the game so I can't comment. Hate late Sat night kickoffs as I'm usually drunk as a skunk by then.

From what I could tell from the highlights, Mignolet was at fault for the 2nd. Having said that, Skrtel should have been closer to Benteke but he probably got a shout from Mignolet who completely misjudged the flight of the ball. His inadequacy at dealing with crosses is really a concern especially since we're not particularly strong in the air.

I expected to have a far easier time against an average Villa side, especially since Benteke who was our tormentor at Anfield last season isn't in the best of forms. They twatted us at home last season and although a draw is a step up, it sounds like we were probably undeserving of one.

U guys should be grateful on this draw. It could be 4-2 to Villa, if that Agbo early 1 on 1 chance and also Benteke strike is on target. U could say lady luck is still on yer side.

I felt Mignolet and Johnson were to be blamed..

Wasnt Johnson the one who drifted away from Benteke?

Cant remember and cant watch vids in office. blush.gif

Mignolet's punching (out of his line runs) is really really poor.

The only thing i miss about Reina is his quick counter-attack throws.

Statistically, Mignolet has the edge but what Reina excels at isn't quantifiable. Reina is much more confident coming off his line and dealing with crosses. Mignolet is arguably the better shot stopper. Pros and cons but Migs is relatively young for a keeper. Perhaps we should sign an experienced back up. Brad Jones hasn't had much first team experience even in his younger days. We should make a Doni type signing, a keeper with bags of first team experience but is approaching the end of his career.

we definitely need enforcing to make the final push for top 4
last sat was a tactical mistake but Brendan will move on from it but we can make do with a DM and wing back

I think you mean wing backS ? With S.

I mean we need at least 2 new, established players on both sides of our defence urgently.

cissokho look so clueless defending and attacking, he is just an eye sore....

not sure if you guys noticed but Aly likes to come to midfield voiding a gap at the left rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Good to get "The Dudek Dance" back if he's still playing.

Both goals were scored when both our FB was not around. One from the right and one from the left. I mean if SG had to cover for the FB, thats tough. Not only did cissokho look clueless, he shoot have passed when there was an opportunity for SAS to score instead he took a shot that would have been a homerun if it was a baseball game.

Fellas has hung up his boots after featuring only twice for real in 4 years.

I recall him being interviewed on the "One Night in May" documentary on Istanbul where Dudek was describing his accounts and he said the F-word during the interview and went, "oppps can I say that" or something to that effect. Anyway great description of what Carra was doing, flailing him arms about when unleashing a tirade of words at Jerzy just prior to the shootout. Seems Carra was telling Dudek to do all he can to throw the shooters off, referencing Grobbelar in Rome. This explains Dudek's "jelly legs" impression. Ah.. the memories.

We need to be on our toes

..despite all the talk of spurs having a not too good of a season (sacked manager midway), they are level on points with us (at this stage). everton with the less than big name owners (& spending) are just behind us & a game in hand.

This certainly gloss out whatever (seemingly) many comments that the enormous stride from us of our season so far. Granted, fair comments (from a point of view) but vis-a-vis 'our season' vs seemingly 'nothing really spectacular' season of everton/spurs/newcastle so far...

what i trying to say, we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves.

It could have been 5-2. Clark free header hit the woodwork.

First goal, Gerrard did track back Weimann, but ball watching afterwards in six yard area, instead looking on the man.
Under BR, as far as I noticed, FB has license to roam up the field, while DM is the one to cover, if the FB not manage to track back.

Second goal, cannot blame Johnson entirely, as Mignolet did come out to punch, which might distract the view and anticipation by Johnson, while Johnson did the right thing to be in front of Benteke (whenever cross come in defender should always in front of attacker), it is the open goal that left by Mignolet, that enable Benteke to have a simple header in.
So GK should share the bulk of the blame on second goal.

Having said that, it is poor team performance as a whole on first half, which if not their finishing was not clinical enough, Liv might 0-3, or 0-4 down on first half.
The poor performance could due to poor/wrong tactic deployed and wrong personnel.

The team was playing good flowing football previous few matches generally, but due to tactical change and personnel change, the whole team looked disjointed.
Defence still rather poor, this season hardly get many clean sheet, even against relegation teams also conceded.
Apart against Spurs 5-0, and early season 3 matches 1-0, I cannot remember any clean sheet.

i'm back... how are you guys? biggrin.gif

i think gerrard is actually very unsure of his 'new' role. tracking back he is sometimes very very TERUK... how many times have we seen jerat among the faults for some of the goals we concede?

skrtel is becoming poor again... sigh... we are leaking goals every match...

and poor poor coutinho...
