Certainly out of this world performance by the lad. Wasn't able to catch it but the spirit the way we cruised pass a team ahead of us in the table.

Well despite all the criticism leveled to Liverpool for not playing or getting 'tiki taka' "right", I suppose we don't "have" that squad (yet). But it certainly proves one thing, we know we can play good counter attacking against a slick passer team like arsenal.

In regards to mourino is good with mind games, earlier this season I said Chelsea are likely top for the title. With probably the most equipped squad (other being manc) and the only team that doesn't have to go thru a "transition" manager (mourino was familiar with the blues) and With best-mind-game in the English football business, fergie leaving manu. It's actually almost no surprise to see Chelsea on top.

Btw, "we are not title contenders this season" - BR sweat.gif

Great win 5-1. Amazing shot from Suarez either. If with some luck by not hitting the post n went in, easily one of the best goal in century

Some positives from last night's match, other than the goals and goalscorers :-

1) Stevie G, current England captain schooled Jack Wilshere,  future England captain. He and Henderson did what Arteta, Ozil and Wilshere failed to do I.e. protect the back four. It was because of Hendo's persistence that we scored our third. Wilshere barged into our captain as he made a clearance pass towards the end of the first half. Stevie G returned the favour in the second half by sending him hurtling off the pitch. Nice.

2) Our fullbacks were amazing defensively. How many crosses did Arsenal muster? Cissokho looks like a fish out of water going forward but he was a rock in defence making crunching tackles early on. Chamberlain hardly got a look in.

3) Sturridge scored our fourth and then went on to ensure that Coutinho got the recognition he deserved for playing him through with a brilliantly weighted pass. It was the same for Sterling after Suarez laid it on a platter for our third. Always good to see the lads showing appreciation for one another.

4) If there was any doubt over Coutinho's persistence, it should be cast aside after his encounter with Wilshere in the first half. The diminutive Brazilian was constantly snapping at his heels much to Wilshere's displeasure. The pair exchanged words and it was good to see Coutinho unperturbed by confrontation. Cissokho literally went head to head with Wilshere later on as well.

Please feel free to add to the list.

We rarely score from set pieces few seasons back. I think we have 21 goals from set pieces this season.

Goals coming from Sterling. He has done well this season, but has lacked goals. Glad to see him get some in.

To be fair to him though he looked like the only one trying. Ozil and Arteta were invisible but yeah, his attitude needs some adjustment. When things don't go his way, he loses it

5) Sterling has been mightily impressive this season. The SaS are the two main threats but Sterling imo is up there as one of the key players for us this season. At this rate, the SaS will soon change to SSS. I think it's unbelievable that he's only 19 and doesn't even look out of place alongside Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho. He seems to fit in just perfectly, so much so that BR trusted Sterling to spearhead our attack after taking off Suarez and Sturridge. His pace is there for all to see but it's his intelligence and speed of thought that have been the most impressive for me.

6) Skrtel has become one the most defensively reliable player in the team right now. Yes we still leaking the odd goals here and there but i think he has put in a different shift the past few months. I don't see him tugging shirt nearly as much as before and he seems a lot more assure of himself. I used to get nervous whenever he was on the ball but this is not the case lately and in fact I actually find myself thinking out loud for Mignolet to pass it to Skrtel whenever we are trying to play from the back. Really pleased for him to score 2 goals, the 2nd in particular was a thing of beauty.

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if this was ever posted here last week:
http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2014/02/go-f...m_reader=feedly

It's a great great analysis on how we fared against different premier league opponents. We could see from the tables that our rivals for top 4 (Everton, Spurs, United) have done equally well against the bottom 8th-20th teams but the difference that separate us from them is that we've collected more points against them than they did. The top 4 is ours to lose.

The 0 pts against the top 3 side is glaring and it shows that we are not a title contender yet. Then again, we just claim the scalps of Arsenal last night and will be facing City and Chelsea at Anfield. So who knows?

Exciting times to be a Liverpool fan.

I just said we aren't a title contender yet and top 4 is ours to lose, that all. Any implication comes from yourself. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Then again, good times are back at Anfield. Might as well go with it. thumbup.gif

This season, I can say John Flanagan>Glen Johnson on the right back spot, wonder who Brendan would pick when glen is fully recovered... Flanno has done exceptionally well replacing Jose Enrique on the left and now on the right as well...

Sterling's pace is nothing new, he has shown his ability when he was first being introduced into the starting lineup couple seasons ago, at one point wenger even offer cash plus Walcott for Sterling's service.. Later he became clueless on the field ever since he signed on his bumper contract... Now he's back to his best and was given his chance to show the world what he's capable of since the departure Downing...
