Especially dropping Gerrard from starting XI in Stoke match. (who know Gerrard can be sloppy and not provide diagonal passes or through passes that lead to goal assist in the match before the match started?),

There is not many option if the manager want to draft the start XI, to be fair.

If not starting Gerrard and Johnson, I cannot brain other option with current set up and personality that Liv current available.

Somemore, Gerrard did score a penalty with a cool head instead blast it (just like Palace penalty vs Spurs match, I watched the match). It seems easy in TV, but many did blast it to the roof of stadium or wide easily.

Gerrard was poor in the match, end of story. Never did I say Gerrard had a good match.

Only if Gerrard consistently poor across, only then the criticism of dropping Gerrard is justified.
Gerrard is still the leading goal assist player in the team so far, and a player that still showing ability to provide dangerous cross in for attacker to score. (flash in my mind was Sturridge goals against Everton in 3-3)

To be fair, I believe every Liverpool fans respect Gerrard presence and contribution, and yea Liverpool will not be like today if there is no Gerrard. But don't you think we should be fair to the other players? Apart from the penalty that day, Gerrard was kinda poor, lots of miss pass and lost of possession, I am suggesting that not to drop Gerrard from starting 11 instantly, but sub him off when his performance is below par.

Didn't you guys notice that before he injured, he started every game, and played full 90mins even though every game he display different performance? I am well supporting and agree on rotating them, but not simply bench him. Whoever display below par performance, sub him out, just like how Carragher was benched previously and he didn't complain because its for the greater good for the team.

Ex-Reds forward Luis Garcia retires

Former Liverpool winger Luis Garcia has announced his retirement at the age of 35.

The Spain international scored the notorious "ghost goal" that took the Reds past Chelsea and into the 2005 Champions League final.

Garcia spent three seasons at Anfield after manager Rafa Benitez brought him to the club from Barcelona for six million pounds in 2004.

The 35-year-old scored 30 times in 121 appearances for Liverpool -- but his most famous effort was one that Blues boss Jose Mourinho claimed should not have counted.

It came in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal between Benitez’s Liverpool and Mourinho’s Chelsea in May 2005.

With the score at 0-0 following the first leg, Milan Baros knocked the ball past keeper Petr Cech, and Garcia got a touch to claim the only goal of the tie.

However, Mourinho was convinced that William Gallas had hooked the ball away before it crossed the line, and later described it as a “ghost goal."

Garcia helped Liverpool to win the Champions League in 2005, but missed their defeat to AC Milan in the 2007 final because he was recovered from cruciate knee ligament damage. He also missed the 2006 FA Cup final win over West Ham because he was suspended.

In a statement on his website, Garcia said: “Today I’ve decided to retire as a professional footballer, thanking the interest of the teams that talked to me in recent weeks, but I think it’s time to end this important chapter in my life and move to the next page.”

He also paid tribute to Liverpool, saying: “[Thanks] to Liverpool FC, for making me pass through the history of international football and be part of the Red family forever.

“[And thanks] to each and every one of the people over 17 years of [my] career that have been with me, have helped me and supported me at every stage I have lived, and although not mentioned one by one, I will be forever grateful.”

Garcia began his career in the youth set-up at Barcelona and progressed to their B team before leaving to join Atletico Madrid in 2002 after loan spells at Valladolid, Toledo and Tenerife, where he first played for Benitez.

He returned to Barcelona in 2003, before following Benitez to Anfield a year later.

After leaving Liverpool, Garcia went back to Atletico Madrid, before finishing his career with spells at Racing Santander, Greek club Panathinaikos and Mexican sides Puebla and Pumas UNAM.

Let's not joke ourselves... Besides the likes of Suarez and Sturridge, Gerrard is still the bargaining chip we use to persuade player joining us... Who doesn't want to play with the Captain of England?

Out of 3 captains we have in squad, only Agger didn't vote for Suarez...Then again we all know Suarez has no chance at all of winning....

Guys, I dream last night Liverpool get no.4 at end of the season. And I straight away wake up and telling myself "Impossible. Should get higher." 

i dont think so there will be any signing this month. some source said we dont have a realistic target yet and BR don't want to spend the money just for the sake of buying players.

Our transfer news seems like a bit low this days.  Now we already in the mid of January and no players coming?

Maybe a strategic loan player  is on the way...  Looking at previous deal, maybe BR will be looking at Stamford Bridge again...

i strongly believe if there is no gerrard for the past decade, liverpool is just a mediocre team team like newcastle or everton until now.

he single handedly brought liverpool back into glory. the 2005 champs league is the turning point for this team after the darkness era of 90's.

his passion n love for the club change the fate of this team, without him, there will be no:

- 2005 champs league
- 2006 FA cup
- gerrard + torres combo, 2nd place in 08-09 BPL
- suarez might already leave last summer

imho, the current liverpool that v are loving would not ever exist, if this man is never shown up for the last decade!

the fate of this club will be totally different without him.

and of coz he single handedly make me fall in love with this team, after this goal
