As most would agree, this Liverpool side play some free flowing football. With attractive attacking football fundamental, players are encourage to find space to hurt opposition. This is the result of BR unshackling the attacking part of the team. Our approach under Houllier and Rafa were always measured, control and possession based.

With BR, there is a lax in control and in don't mean it in a negative way, instead, players are encouraged to make runs and creative passes to unlock defences. Unfortunately, this unshackling and creative freedom comes at a cost, a shakier defense - as players took risk and run into empty space which created a void in return, that can be exploited.

As such, like it or not, SG is still the figure head in midfield, being the more measured player. He took calculated risk as oppose to all out attack, and he understand that tracking back is crucial to prevent the defense from being exposed. AS such, the flow of yesterday's game was affected with SG in the side. Not blaming SG in any shape or form, but a lot of fine tuning is needed for this team to mature. I'd say it is still work in progress unless the right personnel can come in. Skrtle, altho is not world class defender, but I think is the best available option, given his balance in both aggression and pace. As such I cant see BR dropping Skrtle, and also part reason we go for Sakho, for his pace, off the ball and aggression. Without a pacey defender, we wont be able to attack as free flow as we possibly can.

Ideally, if we can get someone that fit the profile of Mark Van Bommel or Philipe Cocu, or Hamann, then I'd think we have sufficiently strengthen the squad. Again it is not easy to find the right CM. Manure been searching highlow for the right person to operate from the middle, but no avail, the reason scoles was recalled last season....and did their recent acquisition felaini solve their issue? I am sure not...all in all, January might not be the right time to get the right sort of player to fill the CM position altho I wouldn't mind Kevin DeBruyne, but how I wish...

If there was a team in the Premier League I f*cking hate with a passion, it's bloody Stoke.

After years of bullying and physically intimidating weaker players, it's about time karma bites them in their juicy fat arses. How many times have we seen them mauling our players and then getting away with murder? Shawcross complaining being wrestled by our player? Never thought I'd live to hear that.

As for Sterling's so-called 'dive', when you're in the penalty box with no backup, you could either hold the ball up or wait for the defender to make a mistake. To be fair to him, there was contact and 9 times out of 10, it's a goal kick but the ref has his own opinion. It's the type of penalty that when awarded against us, we would moan day and night at the referee. Normally, I'd feel sorry for the victims but it's Stoke we're talking about, so f*** them.

Only thing I'm pissed off about the win last night is that our players didn't stop to ask for a cloth when taking a throw in. It's a traditional service available only at the Britannia Stadium, ffs use it.

---

Alright alright, on a serious note, it wasn't our best game.

Defence should have done better. Cissokho makes Enrique look like Roberto Carlos and whatever happened to the Glen Johnson of 2012/13? Midfield should have controlled the game better. I personally think that Allen would have offered the solidarity that we sorely lacked yesterday. Gerrard's passing was way off and invited lots of unnecessary pressure when we should be steamrolling Stoke.

Then again, we never did well on a (quote) cold, wet and windy night at Stoke (/quote). Heck, it feel so damn good to beat them in such ugly fashion.

PS: Nice to see the SAS love affair again. Probably will last only until May so enjoy it while you can.

LED! You have man up rclxms.gif I like all the colorful language. biggrin.gif

Couldnt agree more. This is one hell of a shite team that I wish would relegate one day. Which team is the enemy of football and friend of rugby? Stokey the dirty dozens. Oh it is still fresh on my mind the Huth Stamp on Suarez.

I am only sorry they didnt get more red cards than they deserved.

On the game, let's be honest. We got bullied big time in defense. Thank God for SAS or else we'll be deep fried like Shrimp. tongue.gif

The transfer news is, well, there aint no news. As usual, the agents are asking for a few pennies more and we aint giving them any sweet candies.

So we're gonna play hardball once more but then again, it's probably worth it. I rather have players who are passionate about plying their trade with us than some greedy m0r0ns who are here to ensure they can afford a Bentley and party in downtown every week.

It still a misery for me. Also, gerrard. No matter how poor he is, he will be automatic starter..no one has ball to drop him and some even afraid to criticize him..imagine if allen play poor like gerrard yesterday.. brows.gif

yes I agree.. should be the other way around.. half fit or 50% glen is better than Kelly..

there is potential in Kelly.. but don't think he offer much offensively compare to glen..
long way to go for Kelly..

Well Allen is crocked and Alberto is largely untested so fielding Stevie G was a no brainer considering our options, or lack of it.

Gerrard has served the club with distinction and you won't come across many one club players these days. Carra and Gerrard are a dying breed. I will never resort to calling him names because I have as much respect for him as I do King Kenny. However, if his presence hampers the club, then he should be rotated and used sparingly. When Carra was benched he didn't complain and he did say that if his presence in the team harms the it, he's willing to sit on the bench and bide his time. I don't know if Stevie is the same. He loves the club just as much but his hunger for a Premier League title may just blind him to the obvious fact that the team does have to accommodate him and not the other way around. I reckon it's time he plays to suit the team.

One other thing I've noticed of late. With Downing having been sold and Enrique crocked, we have no left footers in the team who can take free kicks other than Agger, who isn't an automatic starter these days. Makes it easier for opposing goalkeepers to set up their walls.

Why are they making such a big deal out of this? Ashley Young has dived when receiving zero contact to earn a penalty as has numerous other players but when Sterling goes down under some contact at least, the ref has to issue a statement ?

Bro, if you look at it on a positive side, the ref is owning up to his mistake. I like that.

I wish the linesman that ruled Raheem's goal vs MC will man up and do the same.

Same goes for Mike Jones in Newcastle Vs MC for ruling Tiote's goal off which was a huge mistake.

The only difference is, Anthony Taylor has the right attitude.

Gerrard has the capabilities to be a dm.In fact he can be one of the best dm around. The only problem is whether he can curb his instincts to go forward at times which will leave the defence exposed.

On the flipside, the authority of the referee will always be questioned if they keep fessing up to making bad decisions. I do want match officials to apologise since managers and players have to but I can understand why they don't usually. If a ref apologises for every mistake he makes, players and managers will pounce on him each time he makes a big decision like awarding a penalty.
