I wonder where they going during Golden Holiday..all japanese balik kampung? no go out vacation? all in japan only?

During Golden Holiday & Bon Odori Season. Yes. Standing before at Shinkansen from Ueno to Akita. 3 Hour Standing.
Japan also only country in world need B747 & B777 for flying domestic. Because passenger volume are so huge.
Worst Record I ever saw are at Osaka Itami Airport flying to Tokyo.
JAL was 12.00 12.15 1230 1300 1315 1330 1400 All are flying to Tokyo with B777
ANA was 12.00 12.15 1230 1300 1315 1330 1400 All are flying to Tokyo with B777 + B747
As you can see the flying time gap are so short. from 12pm to 2pm flight Check in counter are Open. For Check in u need Q for 2 hour


Rich people go US or Europe. Mid Range go Asia or Hawaii. lower wealth go within Japan Vacation.
Japanese are workaholic. They only rest at Golden Holiday & Bon Odori. That why it making the transport so meltdown.

I'll be in Japan during Golden Week this coming April.
I'm arriving on the 16th April and will be getting JR Pass (Green), will be traveling to Hokkaido, Aomori and back to Tokyo during the Golden Week. If I book my Shinkansen passes on the 17th April for the Green cars, do you think it's too late? Limited Express trains can book seats also ar?

Golden Holiday was 29 April to 7 May.
You still can get seat if you lucky on the time yoi want. If thetrain was full then you will put on next train. Next train full then next next train. Maybe next next next next train until got seat.

You reach Japan at 17 Apr. Not yet Golden Holiday. when back from Hokkaido to Tokyo with 7 day pass still 23 Apr only. Not yet Golden Holiday.

If you going 14 day then you in shit time. U will crash with golden Holiday. If me I will used JR rail Pass Green + top up for Night Train double berth room back to Tokyo. Shinkansen and limited express sure shit brit

Planning a trip to Japan this coming early November (wanna see the fall foliage in Kyoto). Me and my friends hope to visit Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka-Nara. How many days do you think will be ideal or enough for the Kyoto-Osaka-Nara trip?

Also, are we recommended to spend overnight at Hakone or a day trip is sufficient?

Well they say the peak when the leaves change to finest colour is mid-nov onwards. We plan to spend our initial trip in Tokyo first then only head to Kyoto area.
