Apple controls the pricing of their products most effectively. No matter where you buy Apple products, its almost the same price. nod.gif

another way to look at it, the margin is extremely thin for resellers, so nobody is willing to give discounts... since it's product is highly desirable, there is no incentive for them to offer high margin to reseller to push their products, yet people will still buy.. brows.gif brows.gif

but it's also another reason as to why lower-priced phone(with similar spec) will thrive - simply because not everyone has the moo to afford pricey phones smile.gif

RM2199 is SRP/RRP/MSRP (whatever u call it lah, see here) which is inclusive of the seller's margin. RM1989 is the price that the shop sells to u, by cutting down on their margin, to compete with other shops..

Sony shop will always sell at SRP. The only bargain you can get is a lots of free gifts during the promotion.

Other shop sell at lower price to attract more people to buy, even with lower margin but with more quantity sell everyday, mean more margin too. For example if can sell 50 units at RM50 margin, that are Rm2500 already. Some popular shop can sell more than 50 a day.

What ever price shop sell, Sony will have their own margin because Sony always sell at dealer price to the shop.

As a consumer, the lower the price can get, the better the deals is.

I actually lost the interest to buy the phone when i read this and a review on the phone.

The plastic back feels cheap.

I was hoping for the feel to be premium and dimensions similar to the iphone.

I guess I'll have to wait and feel in person. sad.gif sad.gif

Earlier this year, we reported that the Japanese version of the Xperia Z1 Compact (Xperia Z1 f) was sourcing its displays from two different manufacturers: Japan Display Inc (JDI) and AU Optronics (AUO). The AUO panel appeared to be darker than the JDI panel and it also seemed to suffer slightly from viewing angles. However, contrast and colour reproduction on both panels were very good.

At the time, we questioned whether the Xperia Z1 Compact would also use two display manufacturers. Well it is probably no surprise to learn that the Xperia Z1 Compact does indeed use two different displays. A small poll on XDA shows that currently close to 60% have JDI panels and 40% AUO panels. It is worth noting that people are largely pleased with either display, although some complain of blue-ish tints.

Well... Rm2058 is lower than expected RRP at Rm2199. So I think its a quite reasonable debut price for the Z1 Compact. rclxms.gif
