Should be the weather I guess coz many freshwater ponds are affected by the weather too.

The water is green, too much algae. Also the water is very very warm, the fishing lead is warm when you bring it up from the water if you do bottom, especially at night laugh.gif

Hi guys! I'm new to fishing and would like to start it as a hobby. My question is, where can I buy a "starter kit" for fishing rod in the range of RM50-80? And does the shop sell fish baits too?

Where is the best place to fish nearby petaling jaya?

What do you guys do with the fish after that?

Thanks!
*
kepong tackle. cheap cheap, rod about RM 15-RM30. reel 2000-6000 cheap cheap around RM 9.90 - RM 50. many selection.
sell bait but better dun buy. just buy direct from the pond u go.

i also from pj. usually fish at putra heights there, lately itching to go seksyen 24 shah alam but always full. what do with fish ? release la. most paid pond is catch n release.

QUOTE(inv @ Mar 3 2016, 11:35 AM)
Most Japanese lures are tuned, if you match the weight of the new hook to the original, then it should work fine.

I usually use snaps for faster lure change.

I think soft plastics will work well in Jugra.
*
Not wanting to bore all you experts here, but I thought I owed some writing after all the advise from you guys...
Managed to make 2 trips to Jugra , the first on a saturday in early April...Met a guy Faisal who was as early as me ...710 am...and he showed me around the 3 ponds...
Gave me some tips for bait and suggested the 2" Berkley SP shad which I had...
Hooked 3 Siakap around 800 g-1 kg size... a few misses due to my inexperience.
Switched over to the Kerapu pond and got a 3kg one....berat tapi tarik macam tunggul je...
Had to cut the line as he had swallowed it deep...the caretaker helped release the hook...
Tried this same bait at the GT / Tandan pond but with no success. Faisal said that the sp would be suitable here but I didn't have the jig hook so couldn't use...
All in all ...good 21/2 hrs for RM 45
After that got jig hook for my next trip and changed to having a snap directly on my main line...used a short fluoro leader for all the baits so if the fish swallowed i could just replace this...earlier I had the snap at the end of the leader connecting directly to the lure...
Second trip last saturday....
Used the sp shad and hinomiya 9cm shrimp at the Siakap pond... hooked 4 around 800g-1kg with 3 misses in 2 hrs...
Switched over to the GT / Tandan pond using white sp...had a few misses but just at the end of the hour hooked a 4kg Tandan.....Wow...exciting...tarik memang best...
again RM50 well spent for the 3 hours....
Made a 52 yr old feel like a kid, now trying to find excuse to go there again..
Some thoughts...artificial lures nowadays are really great...the way they move...how the hell they get the prawn to swim so upright..the shad too...but the one that impressed the most was the sp...just reel and the tail movement really tempting to a fish...
I really need to get some lessons on releasing the hook on siakap, had small cuts on my palm just holding the fish down...
The caretaker said they maintain 25 larger siakap in the pond...any idea what bait is suitable coz everyone seemed to catch the small ones..or is it the timing?
I will stick to the Tandan and Siakap as I love the way they fight..
Once again everyone... thanks for the advice and I hope didn't bore all you experts with this long post..

Thank you boss! Sure can get below RM100 range right?  sweat.gif I scared all the tools very expensive.

By the way, besides kepong tackle, is there any nearer shops in pj?
*
confirm.

if u go ss2 also can get below 100 for cheap gear. only thing is, more choices for cheapo items at kepong tackle. the cheap reels alone got on the display rack and display basket. very big near the cashier. ss2 becoz shop size not as huge as kepong tackle, got also but not alot.

cheapest reel i saw at kepong tackle is RM9.90, cheapest rod i saw is RM 7. u combo that with hook and all also below RM 50. i bought a cheap set for my buddy last week. RM 51 for 5000 and RM 28 for 3:6 MH rod. with that, he went to exotic to catch 24kg fish. easily.

no la, cheap thing got cheap play also. not everyone wan go hardcore ma. i give example,

we start gaming on computer by playing tetris, golden axe. then we buy cheapo keyboard mouse. can play wat no problem. cheap cheap a4tech mouse and keyboard can settle.
when into the game liao, after playing , abit lag, then upgrade mouse and keyboard and grafik kad. buy optical mouse, buy better keyboard lor.
then when really into competition level or those, we buy razer laser mouse, mechanical keyboard super high end i7 processor and super expensive grafik kad can SLi can this that launch rockets.

fishing the same, dunno what u doing, buy cheap shit first. play play syiok liao kena poison then oni slowly upgrade and learn along the proccess lor. forum plenty info got many ppl share ma.

takkanla wan buy super expensive gears then find out, no ngam fishing then money go to waste lor liiddat.

go kepong tackle la, more choice. fun to look at things. dun listen to those indon sales girl there. damn waste time ask them. go ss2 for advice a whole lot better. i give ahboi 2 thumbs up for advice, his mother also. but go only when u pass the beginner stage and wan level up.

Wow! Thank you so much for the info! At first I thought the cheap rod can only catch baby fish.

Thank you so much, FireIceCombo!

May you catch the biggest fish soon! smile.gif

The lighter the rod the more expansive it gets
