So another year is gonna end. What fishing equipment did you regret buying this year? And what you should have bought instead?

As for me, I regret buying the Abu revo ltx. Should have just followed my heart and gotten the px68 instead which I eventually did.

regrets if any would be the Shimano scorpion XT, since I'm living in Sabah, not much of a hotspot for freshwater casting i'm afraid.  shakehead.gif

can't the scorpxt be used for saltwater?

wut do you guys think about the daiwa zillion type r? I had the opportunity to play around with the reel last week and was pretty much impressed with the thing...

there was also the zillion PE special but comes with a shallow spool, how does the two fare against e/o?
*
The PE special have adopted faster level wind to lay the PE line in such a way as to prevent the line digging into the spool. The rest are just cosmetic change.

D.A.M, Imperial fluorocarbon...cost me RM60++ for 20meters..broke at the middle, not snap/swivel lol..there was this incident, i hooked up a 2-3kg patin, and when the fish is right in front of me, it did a last dive and the line just broke, its a 40lb line i was using, and there was no structures or tree branches between the fish and the line (as it was so close i could still see the fish), and the line was still new when i got that fish. i would say it failed me on 3-4 occasions out of the total of 20meters, so that's kinda dissapointing i guess, even tomman line i used last time was better lol
*
Wow. That's quite bad. Only have been using Ygk leader. So far so good.

what do u guys think of Shimano Curado G, 6.5:1 ?

How is the warranty goes ? I am buying an used unit, buyer told me he hasn't sign the warranty card yet.

So where do I send to if I need to claim warranty ? Kepong Tackle ? coz he bought it in Sarawak ?
*
Warranty is usually for manufacturing defects only. Doesn't cover mishandling and wear and tear. They will still charge you labor and parts.

Curado series is quite well-known. One of those work horse reels from the shimano family.

I don't really like the magnetic braking system implemented by Abu. The Daiwa magforce z and v system is vastly superior. Furthermore, Abu revo series has basically 0 resale value. Would take a shimano / Daiwa over Abu anytime.

custom check is usually done randomly.

fishing reel and rod is tax free, however, there are reports where if the reel exceed rm500, then it's taxable.

The last shipment incurred some tax. Mostly on caps, bag and spare parts for the reel.

Yeah a little bit worried how the ci4 material would perform. Looking at sustain and twinpower too.

Sustain seems nice with the extra spool but the rotor is made of ci4 material  hmm.gif

Twinpower looks excellent except for the price  laugh.gif

Or you could go a step down and go for the biomaster series.

Hey viox, thanks man... at least i can  now rely on a general rule of thumb for ultralight;light;medium and heavy setups. But anyweis, heres a little something about my arsenal, hope its good to go!

UL Spinning
Reel:sephias c3000sdh ci4+
Rod:shimano bass-one 4-8lb
Braid:megabass purple 6lb braid
Fluoro:suffix 8lb

UL-light Baitcaster
Reel:shimano CQ51
Rod:rapala sand 6-12lb
Braid:15lb power pro
Fluoro:17lb suffix

Are these setups ok?
*
Get a major craft Volkey bfs series to pair with your CQ51. Big difference when compared to sand.
