Hi everyone,
I am going to buy a new car (1.6 auto).
Based on the sales guy, after 1000km I will need to service.
I heard few people say different opinion. So i decide to ask the experts here.
Should I drive fast on the 1st 1000km? Like 110km/h as much as possible, consistently on highway
or
Should I drive 90km/h and below?
Some said tekan oil hard hard once a while is good. Hmm?
I assume this concept works for all cars 1.6 engine.
Any tips? Thanks.

dont think so. dont tekan hard hard. ur valve and piston all are shiny new, so there are less gap, when less gap + tekan hard hard, it will damage cylinder wall and piston. all based on my friend. i no luck on trying becoz dont have new car

Getting Started

for suprima manual, 1.6 turbo.. must drive less than 110km/h for first 1000km.. iinm, after ur car clocks 5km, u can already start maximizing car to its potential

There is a group of scientists that says engines will be more fuel saving/powerful for the rest of their life if they are driven hard in the beginning. They've done experiments on this. However they also say it depends on how you drive... basically this is something that should be done as part of the manufacturing process, under controlled conditions. And normally people think you should go soft on the engine in the beginning. So... I don't know.

I heard from my bro to maintain throttle in a lower RPM range but don't just stick to one speed e.g. constantly 90 km/h but vary it by accelerating and decelerating at some points. stick below 120km/h for the time being tho.

RPM dont over 2.5, dont over 120km/h, dont do too much emergency brake, then everything should be fine. After get new car, go do alignment and check tyre pressure.

ok, since you're talking about 1.6 auto, this is how i drive my 1.6 auto fresh from the car yard, but im not too sure about turbocharged car since i don't own one.
I've rev reasonably hard for first 1000KM, it's like rev up as high as 5000rpm, just before redline but i did hit redline (6300rrpm) couple of times. Drive at various speed, like on my way home, drive 80, 110, then 160, then back to 90. everything seems good and my mileage just past 30000KM. Then just do regular oil change and other maintenance as per manufacturer's recommendations.
keep in mind that you don't endanger other road users safety.
of cos you can choose driving smoothly if that makes your comfortable, its your car anyway.
hope this helps
