There is a group of scientists that says engines will be more fuel saving/powerful for the rest of their life if they are driven hard in the beginning. They've done experiments on this. However they also say it depends on how you drive... basically this is something that should be done as part of the manufacturing process, under controlled conditions.

And normally people think you should go soft on the engine in the beginning.

So... I don't know.
