ok, since you're talking about 1.6 auto, this is how i drive my 1.6 auto fresh from the car yard, but im not too sure about turbocharged car since i don't own one.

I've rev reasonably hard for first 1000KM, it's like rev up as high as 5000rpm, just before redline but i did hit redline (6300rrpm) couple of times. Drive at various speed, like on my way home, drive 80, 110, then 160, then back to 90. everything seems good and my mileage just past 30000KM. Then just do regular oil change and other maintenance as per manufacturer's recommendations.

keep in mind that you don't endanger other road users safety.

of cos you can choose driving smoothly if that makes your comfortable, its your car anyway.
